Kirk just sounds like someone who is just a lazy guitarist who doesnt practice. Anyones is capable of being an exceptional guitarist, but you have to work for it. @lronmaidenRgods: And...where did I say, that Kirk is the best thrash player? There is no thing such as the "best guitarist", because it all depends on personal preferences. If you look at it from a technical point of view, the "best" guitarist would be Chris Broderick, because he doesn't just play thrash, but also classical stuff, he is able to play nearly everything. And that's what I would call the "best", but I don't. I don't judge by techniques, I judge by the way it sounds to my ears.

kirk hammett is good.... back in the day like 30 years ago, but now he sucks major balls, defend him all u want, but i went to the big for concert in april and compared to all the others lead guitarist young and old, kirk by far was the worst, he was off rhythm with the rhythm , and off with the solos, hell the wasnt a song they played that night that he diddnt mess up, and jus cuz he's old dosnt give him an excuse, dave is the same age if not older and can play circles around kirk. kirk u suck.

To be a truly great guitar player is not only about playing the fastest are most precise, it also encompasses being creative and original and doing ground breaking things, and be a true artist of your craft. If your just simply up their trying to play as precise and as fast as the next guy and thats your only goal, than your only a one dimensional player, but to be a decent guitar player and to also be creative and charismatic and see guitar playing as an are and not a competition

YOu notice that the people who are recognized socially as the greatest guitar players are players who aren't the fastest are technically sound? If you listen to Hendrix and then you listen to PAUL FUCKING GILBERT!!! You'll notice that Gilbert can do tons of things on the guitar that Jimi can't. But Jimi is considered to be the greatest of all time, and I'll tell you why. Jimi had charisma and a sens of creativity to go along with his ability, and that all ties into being a great guitar player.
