80% of those employed by the fur industry are Natives. Its a traditional way of life passed down generations the first Europeans that we lived in peace with traded with us for our furs. Attacking that way of life hurts Natives more then anyone. Targeting the Newfoundland seal hunt which is a species that has never been endangered when there are 20 species of seal in need of help else where is proof that it is cultural bias, racism that motivates your hate not a concern for seals.
did you know the WWF actually is in favour of the seal hunt? Read it!
"Most importantly, from the perspective of a conservation organization such as ours, the harp seal population is at a near record high with more than 5 million individuals and current harvest practices pose no apparent threat to the long-term health of the species."
I wonder if seals or other water mammals can be domesticated, that would save wildlife some trouble. And possibly give the seals a more painless death.

AND I can live with the fact that the Inuit hunt them because they use every part of the seal and give thanks to the seal for their lives BUT I cant live with the SEAL HUNT because it is a mass slaughter for selfish reasons.
Haha you Amerikkkans. We kill seals, you enslave races. We do it for necessity, you do it for leisure. Suck a fat one.
If this became a tradition where everyone in Canada went out and bashed seals? yea there would be a problem, until then.. its fucking hunting, just like deer.. doesnt seem to bother anyone that deer get shot. AWW its a cute seal! they use those baby seals to fuck with emotions, cause what most people dont know, its illegal to kill seal pups.
besides, theres alot more inhumane acts going on right now, like the crime rate in the world, people going starving, animal euthanizm, modern pillaging ( Iraq for oil ), illiteracy rates, corruption, world defecits, police brutality, gun violence, depletion of the rain forest ( dont say tree hugger because without that vital forest, all of you are fucked.. it supplies approx. 40-50% of Earth's oxygen) etc, etc. So, if keeping a species stable is wrong? you need your priorities checked
Btw Just because they no longer have the white fur doesnt mean they are not still cubs. Baby seals shed off their white coats within A (1) month after birth, So YES they are killing seal cubs. They are not keeping a species stable. They are killings thousands of baby seals for their fur. Do some homework before you go on thinking you know everything when you dont even know what your talking about.
some of your examples of inhumane acts prove how much of a idiot you are.
You already labeled me a kkk member & holding me me accountable for the enslavement of races without even checking out my channel to see who & what Im about? I can already see the type of person YOU are.
Btw Its not hunting for food so therefore it is wrong. They brutally beat young seals dead JUST for their coats. Thats just wrong not to mention selfish greedy & barbaric.
Yes It does bother me when a deer gets shot.
You'd know this if you checked out my channel b4 opening your big mouth.
and what I'm saying is the media tells you shit all the time because hippies dont agree with what natives do. You have to realize Canadians and Natives arent really best friends, its just like down south with the KKK members, the rednecks vs Black people. People shoot animals and shit for game all the time because it helps balance out the species, theres a set limit. Do you know how humane this is? its a huge ice pick that causes instant death.
Im well aware of how they are killed. I just described to you how they are killed. This has nothing to do with the Natives (Inuit) hunting seals. We were on the topic of the annual seal slaughter. I dont rely on media for info. I do my own homework.
People dont shoot animals because it helps balance the limit, they kill for fun. They kill because its legal murder. Some actually do kill for food.
natives have been doing this shit for years while we were still in europe, we bring our views over and say its wrong and cruel, theyre NOT being skinned alive, things DONT go to waste. think of a chicken running around with his head chopped off.. obviously its dead, but its nerves
we need seal unlike u ppl who dont live in the north, food here is very expencive and not enought jobs for ppl in the north thats why we hunt for food.
Your an idiot! It's not like they can grow some veggies in their garden! It's the arctic no plants grow there except liken! Seal gives them vitamin A which the need or else they go blind. They have been hunting them for thousands of years It's a huge part of their culture and you telling them they can't because your a tree-hugging bleeding heart liberal is genocide!
The hunt IS fun compared to fighting the traffic to work in a cubicle. I think all animal predators anticipate and enjoy the hunt. And death is Life's greatest invention. A lot of the comments here smack of EXTREME alienation from the circle of Nature. The irony is the huge petroKcaloric cost of veganism (for example). But, "deep ecology" is beyond the intelligence of most YouTubers.
Poor seals? They wouldn't be "seals" without animal and human predators. They would have evolved into something like a sponge. Long live predation, whether by man, wolf, or bear. Death is life's greatest invention, without it virtually nothing happens in Nature.
people are soo against seal hunting cause they think they are cute and maybe they are but what if cows were so cute would you eat a burger. and its not like up north there was alotta options, theres no farms or vegitaiton, so food from the store is really expensive, i remembr a 4 liter of milk costed like 16$
man all you people who are against this kind of hunting are so off, this is hunting for a rightful purpose which is to survive. those that are hunting for trophies, recreation, or just cause they are rich and bored and just go sport hunting cause they want those trophy antlers or that nice big hide added to their collection, now that is something you should bitch about, i too hunt seals and whales, not cause i want to but cause i have to, its just the way i was raised and taught to survive.
You talk about cruelty and inhumane practices, if you care so much about that, why don't you concentrate your energy on hunger and poverty, there's a hungry person down your street looking for a hand-out so he can eat to survive. It's cruel to leave a human being hungry with no place to stay, but I bet you just walk by that person or persons who asks for a quarter or something to eat.
No yopu giving seal hunters shit ,are being the idiot you know nothing of the real world...go have a plastic wraped carrot your doing your part drive to the store in gas powered car ,to get that tractor harvester and tractor trailor trucked carrot to you in you smelly smokey smoggy city ...congrats your right
Well theres also the fact americans still hunt seals, in alaska, and don't tell me it doesn't count because they aren't connected, newfoundland isn't connected to canada yet all of canada is givin shit for it, and the u.s. doesn't get any blame at all, until now......
I didn't mean you said busting, i mean, thats a reason to bust, but i agree with you for the slavery thing, that was like 100 or more years ago its not something to be bitched about, and in all seriousness, i'd rather pick cotton then live in africa.(not trying to offend africans just africa)
I think this video of Inuit sealing should remind us that human life has been interdependent with animals for all of history.
It's only in very recent times that people from wealthy countries and urban areas can afford to live by vegetarian values.
Animal rights extremists shouldn't force their values on others, particularly when anti-sealing demos have such a terrible effect on rural people whose welfare and cultural existence depend on sustainable use of animals.
At the end of 2003, the nonprofit HSUS declared assets totaling over $113 million, including almost $16 million in cash and over $80 million invested in securities. It pays over $11.8 million in annual salaries, and another $3 million in employee benefits and pension contributions. When HSUS merged with the Fund For Animals in 2004, the group announced that its 2005 operating budget would be $95 million.
that is food idiot..oh i forgot you eat chicken raised standing in its own shit that someonelse killes wraps in plastic truck to you burning fossile fule ok much better
Inuit have been living off the land for thousands of years. They eat all its meat and use its fur for clothing. Its not like they had a shopping mall around the corner. Even today I live in Iqaluit It has 2 stores that a crazy expensive. Especially food it is so much cheaper to live of the land. It is simply the circle of life. Just like ppl eat cow or chickens you dont see the process so you dont think animal cruelty about it. theres no need to be prejudice.
Hey it's just what we do here, It's what we have always done. It's our way of life. You can keep your Mad cow and bird flu and your tainted spinach. No thanks cow girl.
Now I can't wait till winter so I can go and try that. We don't seal hunt like that anymore here, we blow their brains out with a rifle, then we harpoon them before they sink.
What kind of inhumane person are you? "Blow their brains out with a rifle, then we harpoon them before they sink?" You gotta be kidding me! Seals are one of God's beautiful creations and it's people like you who are going to make not only seals, but dolphins, whales, and other majestic sea animals become extinct. You want something to eat? Go try some vegetables you jerk!
There isn't much food in conditions like that, and the best food to eat in their conditions and habitats is seal. Is it more humane to kill cows and chickens than seals? hypocrite.
If you truly had evidence to substantiate your previous claim you would have posted it instead of repeating your hearsay. This childishness is why some of the environmental organizations lost my support. :-/
1. The seals don't need to be saved. There are far from endangered. They are prosperous. 2. Your preference of animal life over human life is apparent by your statement. 3. Your manic depressive, "ends justify the means" propaganda will not obtain political influence here in Canada. 4. If you truly wanted to "save seals" you would have gone after the buyers - Norway and Russia - And you would have stopped your own seal hunt in Alaska.
Neither. This doesn't validate your claim, so why even bother saying it ? You are attempting to control the conversation by degradation - A typical lobby bullying tactic. You'll find that Canada is quite hostile to political interference by non elected lobby groups funded by corporations - Especially when it originated from the states.
You can't even save the seals in Alaska ! Why do you have such a big problem with this environmentally irrelevant topic ? And what is with the arrogant, blatant irresponsibility that we've been seeing with your fellow protesters. They're still killing pups by hugging them !
And why is it such a big hunt ? Greenland. Norway. Russia ; They all have their own hunts but import the majority of their seal pelts from Canada. Who is Alaska exporting to ? The same countries Canada is exporting to, including China/Hong Kong and over half a dozen of the major European nations. The demand will not be reduced by your badgering and propaganda against Canada - Especially when the major processor in Canada is a subsidiary of a Norwegian company.
eeghw was on the edge of my seat as an animal lover but hey after watching this I realise that they just have to do what they have to to live.. it's not like cruelty like this and yes we can go to a supermarket but hey the same has happened to what we eat..we just don't see it, could I do it? no, but doesn't mean that it doesnt happen even though it is packaged nicely hey.. opened my eyes even though my first thoughts were bad
its realy sad but they must eat, just like us, maybe they do it at little bit bloodstained but we don't see how they do it in our country. So i think its not realy a cruel..
if you had seen the seal being pulled out you animal lovers would have gon crazy in respect of the animal and you atlease you saw how they hunt without a gun
its good that we got people like retardkidsintheback the inuit dont mind us eating pork chicken an beef so why should we worry about what they eat. alot of inuit have already stoped eating seal meat after hearing about oil spiles and shit but we still dont mind mad cow diseice.CORRECTION "one inuk" two or more"inuit" capeesh
Very simple truth,if your not going to eat it 'dont kill it.A seal doesnt catch a fish just for fun .You cant train a sealer, try training a sealer to sit or roll over.Train your dog to hunt seals itll save you time and money or do it your self
an average person who eats CHICKEN may lift 150 lbs of waights. but a person who eats northern food[seals, polar bears, musk ox,whales, rabbits ptarmigan, fish, birds.]Will lift 300 lbs easy! and will not freeze in minutes north is not hot like africa its cold here and so we need to drink blood and eat meat and wear fur clothing to stay alive like our grand parents did. PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT NO DISRISPECT As for now im going to go out and see if i can catch something for my kids to eat god bless
It's not for fun nor for pleasure. It is really like kill cows or pigs. You have youe market we have ours. Its what we've been doing for thousands of years. FOOD
these are real hunter not to beconfused with the fur seal hunting on the east coast, the inuit are an amazing people with thousands of years of life in the coldest place on earth behind them, have u ever seen a nothern food store, give me the seal, there are no grocery stores here
Hunters love to take life away. There's no reason to hunt, since we have grocery stores. Hunters actually get proud when they kill innocent animals. Pride is the Devil's specialty, along with hate. Then there's the fact that they have the advantage of a gun. Hunters that kill for sport are consumed by lust for blood and death.
I always wondered what the meat tastes like. I'd love to try it someday. I think that most youtubers that are against hunting of any type would find it very hard to move to a place like this and survive. A seal hunter would have to save them!
They arnt doing it for food. They will eat it, yes, but they can easily enough eat something out of the fridge. These days they do it for tradition and entertainment. It's cruel, yes, but animals kill animals, its what they do. It is also the Inuit right to kill animals in the North. They own the land and therefor own all creatures on it.
Comment though, the blood is gross. All I can think of is kool-aid.
I hate animal cruelty myself and have seen my fare share of clips that have been uplaoded on you tube. I think it's a good way to let everyone know just how cruel people can be. However I think it's also fair to learn more about a particular culture before you begin to label them murderers. This has been thier way of life for hundereds of years and I'm sure its more for survival than pleasure.
Saying "Ban the seal hunt" that they can't hunt seals is not only saying they aren't allowed to eat, but also the same as saying "ban bar-mitzvahs" or "ban baptisms" it's part of their culture as well as a necessity for their survival.
Its not for pleasure. If you knew anything about Inuit, and inuit culture and traditions, you wouldnt be saying that. Thats just like saying .. ban the chicken .. or ban the cow. Murderers!? look at the thousands of millions of chickens, pigs and cows that are killed every year, and tell me thats not worse. Inuit kill for food and clothing, not for fun.
These people hunt to survive, sealers who only use the skins for profit are the ones who need to be stopped. The application here is completely different, any PETA people who would protest these actions here need to spend a few months up north and see how long they last.
you're gonna get some PETA fanatics on your ass, but I think this is a very informative video. Thanks for showing me the way that people live in a completely different environment than my own.

Avoice4theUnheard 2 years ago
and what I'm saying is the media tells you shit all the time because hippies dont agree with what natives do. You have to realize Canadians and Natives arent really best friends, its just like down south with the KKK members, the rednecks vs Black people. People shoot animals and shit for game all the time because it helps balance out the species, theres a set limit. Do you know how humane this is? its a huge ice pick that causes instant death.
StreetRocaFella 2 years ago
harsh man, there are racial tensions but I think you are exagerating a little.
albertaforalbertans 2 years ago
Im well aware of how they are killed. I just described to you how they are killed. This has nothing to do with the Natives (Inuit) hunting seals. We were on the topic of the annual seal slaughter. I dont rely on media for info. I do my own homework.
People dont shoot animals because it helps balance the limit, they kill for fun. They kill because its legal murder. Some actually do kill for food.
There is nothing humane about the seal slaughter.
Avoice4theUnheard 2 years ago
natives have been doing this shit for years while we were still in europe, we bring our views over and say its wrong and cruel, theyre NOT being skinned alive, things DONT go to waste. think of a chicken running around with his head chopped off.. obviously its dead, but its nerves

But, "deep ecology" is beyond the intelligence of most YouTubers.
davidleealford 4 years ago
Poor seals? They wouldn't be "seals" without animal and human predators. They would have evolved into something like a sponge. Long live predation, whether by man, wolf, or bear. Death is life's greatest invention, without it virtually nothing happens in Nature.
davidleealford 4 years ago
well there is no LIFE without DEATH, ur rite

people are soo against seal hunting cause they think they are cute and maybe they are but what if cows were so cute would you eat a burger. and its not like up north there was alotta options, theres no farms or vegitaiton, so food from the store is really expensive, i remembr a 4 liter of milk costed like 16$
Mclean113 4 years ago 2
man all you people who are against this kind of hunting are so off, this is hunting for a rightful purpose which is to survive. those that are hunting for trophies, recreation, or just cause they are rich and bored and just go sport hunting cause they want those trophy antlers or that nice big hide added to their collection, now that is something you should bitch about, i too hunt seals and whales, not cause i want to but cause i have to, its just the way i was raised and taught to survive.

You talk about cruelty and inhumane practices, if you care so much about that, why don't you concentrate your energy on hunger and poverty, there's a hungry person down your street looking for a hand-out so he can eat to survive. It's cruel to leave a human being hungry with no place to stay, but I bet you just walk by that person or persons who asks for a quarter or something to eat.

kemosabii 4 years ago
I think this video of Inuit sealing should remind us that human life has been interdependent with animals for all of history.
It's only in very recent times that people from wealthy countries and urban areas can afford to live by vegetarian values.
Animal rights extremists shouldn't force their values on others, particularly when anti-sealing demos have such a terrible effect on rural people whose welfare and cultural existence depend on sustainable use of animals.

Training for sealers is woefully inadequate and promotes continuation of illegal and cruel hunting methods.

canucktunes 4 years ago
go play in traffic while we save the seals.
hstormchaser 4 years ago
1. The seals don't need to be saved. There are far from endangered. They are prosperous. 2. Your preference of animal life over human life is apparent by your statement. 3. Your manic depressive, "ends justify the means" propaganda will not obtain political influence here in Canada. 4. If you truly wanted to "save seals" you would have gone after the buyers - Norway and Russia - And you would have stopped your own seal hunt in Alaska.
canucktunes 4 years ago 3
you must be part of the canadian gov. or just a dork
hstormchaser 4 years ago
Neither. This doesn't validate your claim, so why even bother saying it ? You are attempting to control the conversation by degradation - A typical lobby bullying tactic. You'll find that Canada is quite hostile to political interference by non elected lobby groups funded by corporations - Especially when it originated from the states.
canucktunes 4 years ago
yeah right, save the seals from the mass slaughter of canada.
hstormchaser 4 years ago
You can't even save the seals in Alaska ! Why do you have such a big problem with this environmentally irrelevant topic ? And what is with the arrogant, blatant irresponsibility that we've been seeing with your fellow protesters. They're still killing pups by hugging them !
canucktunes 4 years ago
again because canada has the largest mass slaughter.
hstormchaser 4 years ago
And why is it such a big hunt ? Greenland. Norway. Russia ; They all have their own hunts but import the majority of their seal pelts from Canada. Who is Alaska exporting to ? The same countries Canada is exporting to, including China/Hong Kong and over half a dozen of the major European nations. The demand will not be reduced by your badgering and propaganda against Canada - Especially when the major processor in Canada is a subsidiary of a Norwegian company.

an average person who eats CHICKEN may lift 150 lbs of waights. but a person who eats northern food[seals, polar bears, musk ox,whales, rabbits ptarmigan, fish, birds.]Will lift 300 lbs easy! and will not freeze in minutes north is not hot like africa its cold here and so we need to drink blood and eat meat and wear fur clothing to stay alive like our grand parents did. Hunters love to take life away. There's no reason to hunt, since we have grocery stores. Hunters actually get proud when they kill innocent animals. Pride is the Devil's specialty, along with hate. Then there's the fact that they have the advantage of a gun. Hunters that kill for sport are consumed by lust for blood and death.
youtoob2006 4 years ago
Do you SEE any grocery stores out on the icepack?

I always wondered what the meat tastes like. I'd love to try it someday. I think that most youtubers that are against hunting of any type would find it very hard to move to a place like this and survive. A seal hunter would have to save them!
rhenke 4 years ago
They arnt doing it for food. They will eat it, yes, but they can easily enough eat something out of the fridge. These days they do it for tradition and entertainment. It's cruel, yes, but animals kill animals, its what they do. It is also the Inuit right to kill animals in the North. They own the land and therefor own all creatures on it.
Comment though, the blood is gross. All I can think of is kool-aid.
Virginityrocks 4 years ago
