  • Dancing genius. I am blessed to be able to see this. Thanks.

  • yes sir they added color to this 1930

  • @dancng5678 No, this is original Two Color

Technicolor, a process used in several different variations, since 1922

  • original color or colorized?

  • @wattever333 Early Two Color Technicolor from 1930.

  • God Bless Bill Robinson a great American.

  • Who ever the Camrea op was I hope was fired. They really didnt know who to shoot tap danceing. a real shame.

  • IT wasn't the camera man. When dupe prints were made for the restoration, the feet were cut off, due to an odd aspect ratio for early sound films.

  • SO does that mean that somewhere there is a version with his feet in it??

  • Ask UCLA

  • This is absolutely ridiculous...!!

I mean no offence... Its obviously not your fault, but why the hell didnt they film his feet!?

Theyre cut off for like the whole performance, and they're the best bit!!!

  • Never off beat...Definitely a Master of Tap! You gotta love em'!

  • Mr Bo woz Sammy Davis Jr's insperation,

    nuff said.

  • amazing Bill "Bojangles" Robinson dancing TAP the best sensacional

  • Flawless, effortless, especially the pullbacks.

  • It's amazing to see Bill "Bojangles" Robinson dancing this great in this film at age 52. He was 65 when he starred in the 1943 film "Stormy Weather," with Lena Horne (now 91 years young, 05/30/17).

  • Talent. FABULOUS Dancer.

  • he was'nt even allowed to take food with the white film crew at their canteen!sad history of the usa...

  • Sad history of the entire world, actually. People have always been discriminated against for their races, no matter where we go. Keep that in mind.

Anyway--- I wish I had foot skillz like him. xD

  • The film was Dixiana c1930

  • this is the style that links tap to flatfootin'!

  • For most of the video, his feet are cut off below the frame.

  • Well said, it is sad. I believe only tap dancers like Eleanor Powell and Fred Astaire were the first ones to work along directors actually ordering them how to shoot and maximise the impact of their dances with different angles. But of course Ellie and Fred were white so they were listened. I bet Bojangles told them a thing or two but the studios wouldn't care. He was charming and elegant, he should have been given a proper smart suit, so sad he was only allowed to look lower class or a servant.

  • well, during the film transfer process the lower portion of the frame just could of been cropd.

  • Wonderful !!!!!!

  • Fantastic and I had never seen this before.

    Many thanks

    G

  • Fabulous dancer! Thank you for this. Could you name the film?

  • One of the greatest American dancers and I just can't get enough of early Technicolor!!

  • Nice!
