had a 360 for many years and just bought a ps3 today. first time connecting a console to my 1080p bravia via hdmi and played gow3 for my first game......my god, i think my eyeballs are going to bleed. so much going on, such good graphics, great gameplay, yikes.

Also, without his "hope" power and less energy in the Sword of Olympus, he would be fairly less powerful than in the last two games.

Great game but 10/10 really. Sorry to say but no game should ever get 10/10but this is a 9/10. Still I prefer x-men origins wolverine which is quite possible the best super hero game. 9.5/10.

The main reason some incompetent people think the story is 'weak' is because they didn't pay any attention to it, the story can simply be ignored since understanding it isn't vital to enjoy the game. Also, uncultured people won't appreciate the story as much since it's based on external real-world references to civilised culture, the majority of people nowadays are too stupid to follow such a story, they'd prefer a superficial, basic story.

@GodKillerKratos well if you beat the game by smashing square on weak opponents and triangle for tougher i'd say that as a button smash. About a great story, bioshock had a great story; there's a whole bunch of similar revenge quest stories already told and they all end up the same. The puzzles were ridiculous, ridiculously easy. That's why they really didn't offer variety to the gameplay as much as frustration.
@Marsipaanimies91 Don't be ignorant, you cannot beat the game just by smashing square & triangle, just because you can't memorise combos doesn't mean they don't exist, watch some combo videos and you'll see skill, not just button smashing. You need to play GOW 1 & 2 otherwise you're not going to get the most out of the story in GOW3. Sure, plenty of games are set in the fascinating realm of Greek mythology with a man seeking revenge on the Gods themselves for manipulating and betraying him (¬_¬)

@GodKillerKratos sure the setting of the story is different but the context is basically same as so many else, but shittier because you can't really relate to Kratos or his feelings as the only thing he's feeling is rage (for whatever reason I don't even try to make sense of). That's kinda superficial protagonist IMO. Oh and there's more reasons why this game (and the whole franchise) fails. It's very short and linear, there's no character customization other than few new weapons or magics.

I can relate to Kratos. Rage isn't the only feeling he shows, he's a deep & tragic character, you must look past his rage to understand his real motives throughout the trilogy. He's always looking for salvation & redemption but loses his way amidst his desire for revenge, that's what the fear Kratos part at the end of GOW 3 is all about, he's finally able to forgive himself for the things he's done.
@Marsipaanimies91 It seems you don't know the story at all, you seriously don't even know why Kratos is angry?! Then there's no way you've played a GOW game. GOW 3 is 10-12 hours long, perfect for its genre. Who the fuck cares if its 'linear' are you saying a game must be open world to be great. GOW isn't a fucking RPG, if you want open world/ 50+hours/ character customisation/ more weapons & magic, play a game designed accordingly, don't bash God of War because you don't like the genre it is.

@GodKillerKratos Sure I like hack and slashes, but for example Bayonetta had 10 times better combat mechanism and its boss battles actually required proper skill and weren't quick time event rides. And yes I played GOW3 and the first god of war till i got bored with it. Sure Bayonetta is linear too, but atleast the combat is done properly. Bayonetta is 16hours atleast and there's replay value, because you will be encouraged to get all pure platinum medals in each chapter.
@Marsipaanimies91 It's just your opinion that Bayonetta has '10 times better combat', I personally hated the combat in Bayonetta, it's far too fast paced and hectic, it's a seizure inducing mess of a game, certainly not at all fun or satisfying. Play GOW3 on Titan/Chaos difficulty then tell me it takes no skill. GOW3 has great replay value, I've finished it 7 times, you need to play through at least 2/3 times to get the most out of it. I'm starting my 8th playthrough when I get all the costumes.

I'm not saying that God of War 3 is bad, It's actually the only one I played through, it was just overhyped and the things I mentioned would have improved the game quite a bit. It's still good game with top-notch voice acting, incredible graphics and some quite interesting characters. I really wished this game would have been my all time favorite as i'm currently studying Greek philosophy and mythology in the university. The quote from Plato at the beginning actually made me feel intrigued.

The best thing for you to do is, get the GOW collection and the GOW Origins collection (releases Sep 13th 2011) and then play through them all in chronological order for one of the absolute best gaming experiences! =)
@GodKillerKratos the story isnt very good and i dont dislike it because im a simpleton (mgs4 is my favorite game ever and that is due in large part to the story) it takes almost no plot twists and the characters are either trite or almost completely 2 dimensional

@JohnnyBoy7267 took me, maybe, say15-30 min maximum. maybe less. go play GoW 1 and 2 instead, they have much harder puzzles and then come back and say this was hard, aight? i just got irritated at you becuse if someone isnt as dumb as you then they cant have played the game. newsflash some ppl have played the first 2 games and they where way harder at the puzzles. i didnt get stuck at one puzzle, only at the enemies just before the puzzle at heras garden.

@biojc28 The story is very strong & very well written. The main reason some incompetent people think the story is 'weak' is because they didn't pay any attention to it, the story can simply be ignored since understanding it isn't vital to enjoy the game. Also, uncultured people won't appreciate the story as much since it's based on external real-world references to civilised culture, the majority of people nowadays are too stupid to follow such a story, they'd prefer a superficial, basic story.

I own a PS3 but seriously what's so special about this game? It's just button smashing with ridiculous yet frustrating puzzles and a weak story. The only good things about this game are the sound and the graphics. Everything else is mediocre.

@GodKillerKratos well if you beat the game by smashing square on weak opponents and triangle for tougher i'd say that as a button smash. About a great story, bioshock had a great story; there's a whole bunch of similar revenge quest stories already told and they all end up the same. The puzzles were ridiculous, ridiculously easy. That's why they really didn't offer variety to the gameplay as much as frustration.

@Marsipaanimies91 Don't be ignorant, you cannot beat the game just by smashing square & triangle, just because you can't memorise combos doesn't mean they don't exist, watch some combo videos and you'll see skill, not just button smashing. You need to play GOW 1 & 2 otherwise you're not going to get the most out of the story in GOW3. Sure, plenty of games are set in the fascinating realm of Greek mythology with a man seeking revenge on the Gods themselves for manipulating and betraying him (¬_¬)

@GodKillerKratos sure the setting of the story is different but the context is basically same as so many else, but shittier because you can't really relate to Kratos or his feelings as the only thing he's feeling is rage (for whatever reason I don't even try to make sense of). That's kinda superficial protagonist IMO. Oh and there's more reasons why this game (and the whole franchise) fails. It's very short and linear, there's no character customization other than few new weapons or magics.

I can relate to Kratos. Rage isn't the only feeling he shows, he's a deep & tragic character, you must look past his rage to understand his real motives throughout the trilogy. He's always looking for salvation & redemption but loses his way amidst his desire for revenge, that's what the fear Kratos part at the end of GOW 3 is all about, he's finally able to forgive himself for the things he's done.

GOW 3 is 10-12 hours long, perfect for its genre. Who the fuck cares if its 'linear' are you saying a game must be open world to be great. GOW isn't a fucking RPG, if you want open world/ 50+hours/ character customisation/ more weapons & magic, play a game designed accordingly, don't bash God of War because you don't like the genre it is.

@GodKillerKratos Sure I like hack and slashes, but for example Bayonetta had 10 times better combat mechanism and its boss battles actually required proper skill and weren't quick time event rides. And yes I played GOW3 and the first god of war till i got bored with it. Sure Bayonetta is linear too, but atleast the combat is done properly. Bayonetta is 16hours atleast and there's replay value, because you will be encouraged to get all pure platinum medals in each chapter.

@Marsipaanimies91 It's just your opinion that Bayonetta has '10 times better combat', I personally hated the combat in Bayonetta, it's far too fast paced and hectic, it's a seizure inducing mess of a game, certainly not at all fun or satisfying. Play GOW3 on Titan/Chaos difficulty then tell me it takes no skill. GOW3 has great replay value, I've finished it 7 times, you need to play through at least 2/3 times to get the most out of it. I'm starting my 8th playthrough when I get all the costumes.

I'm not saying that God of War 3 is bad, It's actually the only one I played through, it was just overhyped and the things I mentioned would have improved the game quite a bit. It's still good game with top-notch voice acting, incredible graphics and some quite interesting characters. I really wished this game would have been my all time favorite as i'm currently studying Greek philosophy and mythology in the university. The quote from Plato at the beginning actually made me feel intrigued.
