What's the matter, xxdunk? Are you one of those 30,000,000 Chinese men who can't find a wife thanks to China's habit of aborting females? It doesn't help that asian women are half of the most common interracial marriage.

Why is China 99.9% asian? Don't they believe in Diversity & Multiculturalism? I wonder if one of those girls at 2:21 is looking for an American husband?
china is too overcrowded thats why there is not much multiculturalism infact it was so overpopulated that they had to bring in the one child policy being overpopulated is also the reason why there are so many overseas chinese
GarthanSaal444, you would think that out of its thousands of years of history, China would have been invaded by France, Spain and Great Britain, have its native inhabitants relocated, and have African slaves brought over. It doesn't make sense. And I don't understand why the rest of the world isn't flocking to China. The language is so easy to learn. It doesn't rely on an alphabet. It has traditional characters and simplified characters. We have to move to China and solve this mess.
The world could learn a lot from Native Americans and European colonialism. The world should definitely be invaded by Western Europe and have native cultures thrown to the wayside. Where's your next Ku Klux Klan meeting? My klan isn't as advanced as yours.

The lesson learned from Colonialism is that your country had better spend a large part of its GDP on defense. Until I see a black mayor in China, or an actual black Chinese citizen, any person from China has no business lecturing anyone on race relations. Your demographics is all the proof we need. Don't worry about the KKK, worry about the governement run Chinese media, and an average wage of one dollar a day.
If you aren't white (or even if you are), I'm sorry about the sarcastic remark about you belonging to the KKK. But I'm guessing you're bringing up China's race relations in response to protests in Guangzhou following the death of an African trader trying to evade the police. But why would a non-Chinese person want to become a Chinese citizen? I don't know if China offers dual citizenship, but it doesn't seem likely that non-white foreigners would fare well there.
But why are you bringing up race relations in China on a youtube video of Athens' 2004 Olympic closing ceremony? Have you brought up the subject of race relations over there on a video that actually covers China's race relations? You're not going to get an intellectual discussion on that matter at a video of an unrelated event that happened 5 years ago. Viewers clicked on this video for the pageantry, not for statistics nor to talk about race relations.

I am just saying something original for once. People like you are so tuned in to the false anti-white propaganda that liberals have us recite every day. "whites=bad....minorities=good". If this wasn't the case I wouldn't be so "hateful" on here.
It is easy to outshine everyone else when you have an inferiority complex. Any country can throw a disgusting amount of money into the pot for an Olympic ceremony (even though it may have citizens living in poverty). I thought their opening ceremony was flat out arrogant. The West invented the Olympics as well as the technology needed for this. Why don't the Chinese come up with their own ideas? If outdoing us in an Olympic ceremony makes them feel superior, then that is pretty sad.

It already was during Beijing 2008 olympic games. Just like Hong Kong and many other cities within China.
It indeed would be nice to put another National Stadium there next time or something, Beijing said they expect to get the olympics again within the next 30 years or so.

Yes they have, IOC President Jacques Rogge said in Beijing that it will be very very hard for coming olympics to surprise the world and that the Beijing olympics were the best ever. True dream came true for us!!
England does not have so much cash, it will be tuff for them to built great venues but we will then all just sport together. They will use some of their existing stadiums and make it look nice, anyways, good luck London!
Rogge did not say they were the best ever...in fact, he hasn't been saying that at any Olympics since becoming IOC President. That was common practice for Samaranch, the former IOC President. So let's not get too full of ourselves.
Sorry mate, Athenes 04 was the ebst ever, well for me anyways. You don't need money and fireworks, yo need to get into the hearts of people. Tough job for UK, it can be done
London doesn't have as much money as Beijing, Beijing spend 40 billions only, but London is just little bit 17 billion, i wonder if they can have enough to pay or borrow money around the world. lol. After the beijing olympics, I am kind of under the chinese confusion, who said the world is always rotate. China is the world power a long time ago, then Britain, then USA, soon it will back to the China. States proof that too, so.. and the recent USA recession is another sample. UK is out dated man.
you are absolutely correct. It's only in the last 200 years that China hasn't been the most poweful country on Earth. Historically China has always been at the top, both in economic and political terms. I think China's recent phenomenal rise is just the natural order of things reasserting themselves.
People have been saying that the UK is outdated for years. London has been a major world city for over 200 years and fully deserves to be the first city to host the Olympics thrice. Oh and please bear in mind the UK is just a tiny, cold, wet and dark island in the north Atlantic so having the fifth biggest economy and being the country whose capital is now the world's Alpha city look like quite good achievements to me...
"UK is just a tiny, cold, wet and dark island in the north Atlantic so having the fifth biggest economy and being the country whose capital is now the world's Alpha city look like quite good achievements to me... "
It's just been announced on Sky News that London has already decided to cut back on the Olympic village because of the credit crunch! Looks like the budgeting is starting already.
I don't think London are alllowed to do that. I recently watched a documentary on the building of the Birdsnest, and the design and construction was monitored at every stage to meet quite stringent Olympic standards.
What are you doing? Now you are posting at all videos about olympic games trying to make people believe all these unhistorical nonsenses?? You should open some serious books before you write all this insulting things, rather than watching tv.

It might come as a bit of a shock to know that new historical research strongly suggests that the Olympic games were not invented by the Greeks, but by the Chinese!
Historians have recently discovered that the first Olympic games in Greece (776BC) were inspired by tales coming through the Silk Road of a huge Chinese Martial arts competition staged in 2698BC by the Yellow Emperor 'Huang Di'to find the best warriors.
Looks like we'll have to light our Olympic flames in Beijing from now on!

I am pretty sure London will do better in their chance for the Olympics!
Hopefully, they will surprise us in the coming 30th Olympiad and do better than Beijing 2008 (no offense)!
Surprisingly, the calculated and estimated budget they are going to use is much more greater than the budget used for Beijing Olympics so that must mean that they are planning something really big for the 30th Olympiad!
Beijing Paralympic Games opening ceremony different to the olympic opening ceremony but the same wonderful ^_^ very touching part3 ------------------------- youtube*.com/watch?v=_ktVt90c6PQ ------------------------- Just remove the * 只要去掉 * .... For Armyboy24:I guess we just have to wait for miracle to see the beijing olympiad opening rites right here. Broadcasting of this event in various media-including Youtube-is strictly state-regulated...For now, just enjoy watching summer games opening ceremonies of past hosts...
There are just so many nonsense on Google they say to download full version of Beijing Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremony but end up giving the fake stuff
They chose the best place, performances and shows to open and end the olympics.
I think that London will do great and maybe better as well. Hopefully, London will perform perfectly without any flaws and mishaps in the Olympics 2012.
London can do good. But the planners would do well to (a) not try to be a copycat of Beijing or other years past, and (b) to fire whoever dreamed up their segment of closing ceremony.
i think london hand over could do much better, why can they not bring out the culture of the united kingdom such as scotland, eng, wales, and northern irland welcoming the people of the world rather then just concentrated in a red double decker bus with some stupid dancers jumping around, for god sake use your brain britan,i think who ever come up with the idea for the dancer, the singer, david beckham and the double decker bus should be shoot to dead. There a lots of ways to present united kingdom
the britains handover was kinda crappy but it was like all the others just kinda showing off..but not nothing to show off..But look s like london might be good..
I'd like Chicago, because I'm only a few hours away. But nonetheless, the USA, Spain and Japan have hosted the games in the past. Another country should have this chance.
Can someone tell me! 1) where can we watch the Beijing Opening & closing ceremony video? 2) Where can we watch the London 8 mins handover performance? Message me the link please, thanks!
This are a really presentation of one next olimpycs games.. no the presentation of shit of LONDON 2012!! What do the girl walking above some people mean?? just a singer?? and a soccer player?' I thought that this was a world's FIFA cup! damn!! I'm gonna miss beijing 2008!
Britain's international human rights record has and still is abominable!!! In Ireland alone over the past 160 years, they forced a famine, thieved and occupied all Irish owned land, banned indigenous Irish cultural and religious practices and language, raped the country's natural resources and enslaved many Irish to work for a hunger wage. May the Olympic games shed world light on the British spirit and encourage the British people to reflect and repent.
This was the most interesting part out of the whole ceremony. Talk about a serious migrane after those two guys kept flipping constantly. China has some good looking people the only thing is they tend to all look the same. The little girl was adorable so I don't know what people are talking about.
man, even though it's in athens but they make look like they own the house. brilliant! ...compared to a certain double decker with washed out stars in beijing.
Personally I love the chinese opera performance very much. It was not easy to do those back flip stunts. Really admire the Chinese. They are really a group of hardworking people. Thumbs up for their incredible performances.

come on britans, your 8 min. show is awesome. you dont like it, you feel thats nothing new nothing special, because its your own culture, you see those things all days in london, or in europe, but for chinese or other asians, we like it very much.
not that i don't completely love China and trad Chinese stuff, but i have no idea what image Zhang Yimou was trying to portray with that upbeat version of mo li hua by girls in minidresses so short they could pass off for belts and that final little girl who looked and sounded absolutely TERRIFIED to be up there o_O;; i'm glad he made up for it in the opening ceremony tho @_@;;
Crystlekkuri, Zhang Y M introduced mostly some Chinese cultural elements there, 1) The short clip gave a glimpse of China preparing for Olympic & welcoming everyone. 2)I guess the upbeat music played with traditional Chinese musical instruments was a better choice than slow soothing kinda Chinese music, which can bore those who can't appreciate it. 3) Kungfu dance performance 4) Chinese Opera 5) The girl sang a popular folk song 2 wrap things up gently with some anticipation left 4 e audience..
no offence to the English? What about the scottish and the Welsh and the Northern Irish. I think that it was, ok but I think that those countries should have had more representation.
I had no idea what happened to the 8 minutes introduction to London 2012 in Beijing. It could have been better. Boris Johnson looks very untidy and rude.

"clean n tidy"?? what a naff thing to want in a ceremony! I can't believe the comments slagging off the Brits in advance. Loosen up people, Beijing was about drilled discipline, London will be about freedom of spirit. Give the Brits a break, the handover made me hopeful of them making it about sport, health, and vitality - not about oppression - which is what Beijing was all about. Good luck UK, sorry about the prejudice & jealousy from overseas
funny...your comment coming from a country that never stopped bashing Athens since the day the Games were awarded to Greece!a taste of your own medicine i say
this was an impressive presentation done by china. unfortunately i can't say the same for the uk, i was a bit disappointed with their presentation. (no offense to the english, i love the uk!) but their presentation pales in comparison to china's.
Watching this 8min, I think the actual ceremony in Beijing was MUUUUUUCH better than this 8mins show. I hope the same will happen for London, that the ceremony will be much better than their 8mins show.
Name someone well know in this video? There is no one. Boris Johnson was not part of the act he was there to take the flag nothing more. The double Decker bus is what represents London everyone knows that and it seems the Chinese public enjoy David Beckham He got more cheers then any act on the night FACT.
i agree; i really enjoyed the beginning and end of london's act, tho i can't say i overly enjoyed the 'singing' from Leona (no offense but it sounded more like wailing to me! i KNOW she can sing better than that!) i loved the bus idea and the west-end-like waiting at the bus stop thing--so typically london! Beckham was just icing on the cake~ as for anyone well-known here, the rest of the world don't really know Chinese people and the ones that they do know aren't really worth putting up tbh =/
You don't need someone really well-known to make a good show. After all, the Olympic isn't about one or two person, is it? The bus was a good idea but the idea could be used better.
LOOOL are u seriously saying that britains segment was better than this?? plz tell me ur joking. boris lookd shabby. a doubledecker bus lmao. a footballer pass his days. leona singin was "Whole Lotta Crap". the bit of throwin newspapers away was spot on which is da true face of Londoners. awful dancing duno wot they tryin to do. britain had the chance to show the whole world to london 2012 but blew it
okay that is just downright rude and insulting and please do learn to spell before you post something so idiotic. the song is actually a very famous traditional Chinese song, sorry that your tonedeaf ears are unable to enjoy music. i agree she sounded a little off and dead scared, but for goodness sake she's a KID and she went up and sang in front of tens of thousands so kudos to her!
well ,that's because China spent a lot of money not only on Olympic venues but city infrastructure that will leave a great legacy to Beijing! plus , they constructed a lot more sport venues than London where most of them already exist.
anyway my comment was not about the amount of money spent but for the spectacle which was totally not worthy of £2million
"5/Xfactor-I'll admit that was S..t American inspired rubbish!"
Better than having amy whinehouse doing it. I mean commeon yeah shes an xfactor winner but shes also the second British woman ever to have a number 1 in the US and several other countries.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
British act was full of stars the chinese one does not have any real stars I don't thing and secondly someone said the British were not bothered well then why did we put £2million. into doing this act? The fact is it was damn good compared to this one where a 2 year old sings and a few people play instruments. And Dannychan please don't make sweeping statements Xinjiang had a few bomb blasts before the games and there we're real security concerns surrounding the games.
TheKirkland: Having famous people does not make a good show. The Athens handover to the Chinese was a better show than the Beijing handover to the British. However, let's hope the opening ceremony for London 2012 is better. London 2012 will be in my hometown - it's gonna be great!!!
I think some of you are missing the point with the London handover show...
I work as a foreign language teacher, and have worked in China, as well as having students from France, Germany, Italy and Spain in my classes....things like red buses, red telephone boxes, lollipop ladies and London bobbies (policemen) are seen a quintessentially British...and I think that why London used those images....
i don't understand why you guys think that performance was boring. i highly enjoyed it; it displayed only a small part of China's culture in a matter of 8 minutes.... i guess one needs to appreciate and understand the culture to enjoy the performance.

England does not have so much cash, it will be tuff for them to built great venues but we will then all just sport together. They will use some of their existing stadiums and make it look nice, anyways, good luck London!
waruhn 3 years ago 45
Rogge did not say they were the best ever...in fact, he hasn't been saying that at any Olympics since becoming IOC President. That was common practice for Samaranch, the former IOC President. So let's not get too full of ourselves.

UK is out dated man.
yuanhuagao 3 years ago 7
yuanhuagao,
you are absolutely correct. It's only in the last 200 years that China hasn't been the most poweful country on Earth. Historically China has always been at the top, both in economic and political terms. I think China's recent phenomenal rise is just the natural order of things reasserting themselves.
projectaquatone 3 years ago 7
People have been saying that the UK is outdated for years. London has been a major world city for over 200 years and fully deserves to be the first city to host the Olympics thrice. Oh and please bear in mind the UK is just a tiny, cold, wet and dark island in the north Atlantic so having the fifth biggest economy and being the country whose capital is now the world's Alpha city look like quite good achievements to me...

CrystleKuri 3 years ago
Crystlekkuri, Zhang Y M introduced mostly some Chinese cultural elements there, 1) The short clip gave a glimpse of China preparing for Olympic & welcoming everyone. 2)I guess the upbeat music played with traditional Chinese musical instruments was a better choice than slow soothing kinda Chinese music, which can bore those who can't appreciate it. 3) Kungfu dance performance 4) Chinese Opera 5) The girl sang a popular folk song 2 wrap things up gently with some anticipation left 4 e audience..

Name someone well know in this video? There is no one. Boris Johnson was not part of the act he was there to take the flag nothing more. The double Decker bus is what represents London everyone knows that and it seems the Chinese public enjoy David Beckham He got more cheers then any act on the night FACT.
TheKirkland 3 years ago
i agree; i really enjoyed the beginning and end of london's act, tho i can't say i overly enjoyed the 'singing' from Leona (no offense but it sounded more like wailing to me! i KNOW she can sing better than that!) i loved the bus idea and the west-end-like waiting at the bus stop thing--so typically london! Beckham was just icing on the cake~ as for anyone well-known here, the rest of the world don't really know Chinese people and the ones that they do know aren't really worth putting up tbh =/
