  • Great old tune, i had no idea Eddy Grant was in this band, or that they we're British.

  • ...love this song. Such a good beat...well put together.

  • I was in London town when this single came out. :-)

  • magnific

  • Kjempe bra - Die guten alten Zeiten - We play that song even today and people like it.

  • so cool meine Zeit danke

  • @Cinderella485 Unsere Zeit, die kommt leider nicht mehr...

  • Hey baby come back!! Woohoo!!! LOVE it!!! Long forgotten but just and STILL great!!! :-) Thank you for the REMINDER!!

  • this song was also in the blockbuster 1986 film:

    RAD

where BILL ALLEN (CRU) was outside before he went to (endo to endo) across the dance floor with his bicycle.

  • Na Hénel Mari megtaláltam mire táncoltunk...

  • can't help but bob your head-timeless

  • i love this song, since my dad played it on guitar:D

  • Konden de jaren 67,68, 69 en 70 maar teugkomen. Dank U walter4092, je hebt gelijk!

  • Konden de jaren 68,69 en70 maar terugkomen.

Ik denk dan aan the move, procol Harum, the moody bleus, the beatels, dozy bicky, mick en tich enz.....

  • @roelsjohan procol harum was 67 :-)

  • I've said this before on not just other boards, but here on YT once before.

Eddy Grant was indeed in the group, wrote the song, played lead guitar, and did the "all right" and okay" shouts, but he is *not* the lead singer.

It is Derv Gordon singing lead--in fact the Equals were 4 guitarists (Derv included) and a drummer.

  • @djdavemick

Sorry--according to my book, Derv just sang lead, and did not play guitar (as did brother Lincoln Gordon, Eddy Grant, and Patrick Lloyd)

  • @djdavemick

Sorry--according to my book, Derv just sang lead, and did not play guitar (as did brother Lincoln Gordon, Eddy Grant, and Patrick Lloyd)

  • Eddy Grant, the lead singer and author of this song also had a hit in 1983 with "Electric Avenue" and another in 1984 with "Romancing the Stone". But Baby Come Back is my favorite.

  • @AlanCFA You forgot I Don't Wanna Dance and Gimme Hope Jo'Anna :-)

  • @AlanCFA thankyou for reminding me about eddy on my drunken search for music )) WE gonnna rock downn too

    electric avenuuuuu

  • @MonkeyHunch You're welcome, although someone corrected me and said that Grant was backup, not lead on Baby Come Back. He claims that it was Derv Gordon singing lead while another Internet source said it was Derv's brother Lincoln Gordon. Whoever it was, it was a great song and a great sound!

  • Tis is super! I" m hungarn moderator, my intro is Equels, baby come back?)))))))))))

  • Idiocrazy haha i like

  • Baby got back!

  • What a lot of you do not know is that this was originally the 'B' side of the single 'Hold Me Closer'

  • @reddiamondstone

Lots of Hits were the B song on lots of 45's back in the day when they punched out 45's. Glad I saved most of mine, scratches and all. They cost less than a dollar. Very afforable with baby sitting money.

  • i hear another song with the same name can you please tell me who is the group???

  • @poolfiendz

    Player - baby come back

  • @poolfiendz ohio player ?

  • Csodálatos!!!

  • Great quality on this posting! I always loved this song from the very beginning. I'm surprised that no one has posted their song, "My Life Ain't Easy". The original 45 rpm record is the best version and I hope somebody will post it.

  • Grazie per avermelo ricordato.

  • Great intro...super song.

  • This is a young Brother Eddy Grant with the Equals before he hit the big time.

  • @peasah2005 You mean before he hit the big time...AGAIN! The Equals were big news in their day.

  • Reminds me of my deceased father; he did'nt like popmusic but was fond of this

    particular song :-)

  • 5 people shouldn't come back

  • This is quite a sad little song, when you actually take the time to listen carefully to the lyrics. :(

  • Great to see black and white band members together!!! Top track!!!

  • @999pooley it went to nr 1 in the uk in 68

  • @999pooley It's nice to see the promotion of racial harmony.

  • 1:58 Dietmar :D

  • great song, well done.

  • Can't believe I'm listening to my dad's cd's on youtube, and loving it hahaha

  • Uf que años aquellos quien los pudiera repetir.

  • Luther Vandross came from Change.

    Phil collins came from Genesis

    Lionel Richie from the Commodores....

    Diana Ross from The Supremes....

Michael Jackson from The Jackson 5 and Jacksons....

And Eddie Grant came from the The Equals who hit the world chats with this track. The difference with him is that he switched his musical genre to reggae..

  • I like it!!!!!

Ένα θαυμάσιο τραγούδι από ΄ένα φανταστικό συγρότημα του 60.

Το καλύτερο για την αρχή και το τέλος μιάς συναυλίας.

  • Eddy Grant was lead singer of The Equals ... he also remixed and re-released this as an Eddy Grant number in early 80's

  • I THOUGHT that Eddy Grant was in this group... I remember the remake by UB40 better, but I've obviously heard the orginal before, too...

  • @shmuli9 Eddie Grant was in the group if your asking :) x

  • @xxfocusstxx Thanks for the correct spelling of his name! (I mean it, as I HATE it when people write 'Marc' when putting down my name.) I used to make up alternative lyrics to "Electric Avenue"... In any case, he must have been VERY young when he was in the Equals...

  • swetdilly,u said i was incorrect, how do i know u know, if u just tell me i am incorect, now that i have told u,i think the next time u say someone is not correct,u should give, the wright answer, how do i know, unless u tell me.

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm I like it !!!

  • Your other question,Don't Worry Be Happy, was Eddy Grant.

  • I just did some more research, and this is strange,i just went to Google, and it said Eddy Grant wrote it and did it originally. So i am not sure, what the hell to say now ?.

  • U are right, the original singer and song writer was Peter Becket. The lead singer from the Equals, was Derv Gordon,Eddy Grant was in that band as well, thank u for clearing that up for me,u learn something new ever day....JB.

  • Do u know the lead singer from this band ,also did,DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY.

  • @TheDrive55

    incorrect.

  • AM radio 1960?

  • This may be the most underrated pop song in rock history. That beat is so infectious you can't help but to bob and weave. I think it reached #17 on the charts back in the day, but I always thought it should have been a #1 song. If it came out today it would be a #1 song. Peace.

  • @makingsense53 yup, and resulted in Eddy Grant's great solo career

  • @makingsense53 it went to nr 1 in the UK in 68

  • @makingsense53 : well, according to TOP OF THE POPS, IT GOT TO NO-1 & SOLD 1-MILLION COPIES WHEN RELEASED IN 1968!

  • @makingsense53 it's not satisfaction

  • @makingsense53 so true, i remember hearing this years back when i was a little kid, havnt heard it since i swear, ahhh such a tune

  • freedom and human brotherhood? are you drunk?

  • Je pens que l'égalité entre blancs et noirs est impossible car les noirs nous sont bien supérieurs à nous autres blancs.Love this group of FREEDOM and HUMAN BROTHERHOOD.

  • OU SONT CES ANNÉES !

  • A number-one in the UK (and in most of Europe), and (if my memory serves me correct, I was but a youngster then) a top-10 hit on this side of the Atlantic.

One of my favorite pop songs of that era.

    Love the infections beat.

  • Baby, come back! is based on the case of a 9-yr-old girl, Fatima Arafat, who ran away from her partents in England to join a hippie commune.
