  • Five people don't have the touch.

  • Well done!!! This is my life in the city.

  • inspired pairing, bravo!

  • 3:23 The guy from Star Wars!

  • Finally! I find the original, not the remix version, which everyone else is posting! Nice choice of THX-1138... Chalk up Peter Gabriel with the likes of Queen, who used it as an inspiration for Calling All Girls' video.

Awesome video! And yes, it's loud...but it's rock...it's SHOULD be!

  • @MaysLilStar Unfortunatly, this is not the original. This is as close to the original as you'll find here. The reason I know this is by the drums. The original version was very tom-tom heavy VS this version which has more snare drum. The drum parts had a very heavy Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" (the signature end part) feel almost to a point where people thought Collins was playing it. Also, the original doesn't have as much keyboard as this version. I still have the vinyl somewhere.

  • @johnduncan77 The answer comes from the fact that this version has cymbals. Gabriel wanted to emulate the cymbal-less sound from Peter Gabriel 3, so he kept it up on 4. Cymbals would not return to a Peter Gabriel album until So. It creates a very tribal sound. This version is also indeed much more keyboardy. Still, all of that just makes it work better with the video presented.

  • I can't find the words for how amazing this video concept is.

    Great Job!

  • @annsaysno THX-1138. Directed by a very young George Lucas. ^^

  • Great song to blast while finishing up an 8 ball.

  • @annsaysno

    THX-1138

  • THX 1138, nice!

  • Did this just come in so loud that it shredded your computer speakers too.. or is it just me?

  • 3:24, I'm pretty sure that guy later appeared in Star Wars

  • my personal theme. I should carry a beatbox with me playing this as I wander

  • go look up the video 'just like you' by three days grace...didnt realize they ripped this off

  • Great song, not even Heather Nova could mess it up.

  • How people think Lucas' Star Wars is better than his THX-1138 is completely beyond me. To me, SW is like a child's imagination of Sci-Fi, with fantastic and goofy aliens and spaceship battles, whereas this film is an actual THOUGHT on the genre, like Soylent Green. And yet SW is considered the best Sci-Fi film ever made. I guess that just means people don't want to grow up.

Oh, and I love this song.

  • @KingOfUm I imagine it's the way the story of Star Wars was told that captures everyone's interest. Having heard what the voice of the actor that actually "fleshed" the role of Darth Vader, and how consideration was given to doing the various scores heard throughout the film on synthesizer [and knowing what synths at the time of production were typically like (See "Moog Modular")], I applaud Lucas' decisions of how to tell the story... For they effected the final image, which is what he wanted.

  • He's driving the car in a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) tunnel just before it was put into use for mass transit

  • LOL at the one guy who didn't like this. GG.

I've been listening to this song for years. How does it not age? Unbelievable. Go check out Heather Nova's cover.

  • For you Sox fans, is that Terry Francona at 2:40? Haha.

  • @SkyhawkEB that's Donald Pleasance... ya' know the guy from the original Halloween Movies... and one of the greatest character actors of the 60s-80s

  • Kontakt!

  • Great driving drums in this track. What a great corresponding video too!

  • I think this is the best correlation to this song I have ever seen.

This Is the top of my list for this is so true.

I feel so sorry for the young out there for they have no idea

    what freedom was(is)

  • Great video...I will go back to watching "Birdy" now

  • this song also appeared in the film "The Chocolate War"

  • Who could that one ashole that does not like this one?? shit

  • @320263 I agree!!!

  • very cool!

  • peter you will always have that special touch, God bless you

  • You did a great job! I think this is one of Peter Gabriel's best songs and THX-1138 is a truly interesting movie.

  • thank you for posting this video!!!

  • Wanting contact sounds like Scarecrow from Arkham Asylum. aaah, memories!

  • Vid goes well with sound

  • Brilliant! What an excellent job of matching the movie parts to the song! Excellent job!

  • Yes Yes children, this REMAINS one of my favorites....

  • George Lucas + Peter Gabriel = Brilliance!

  • I looked everywhere for this version!!<333

  • Still gives the tingles

  • I can't stop playing this tune.......It's a cracking song.......

  • nice,VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Same as rip-off DJ's . . using someone else's work and calling it their own because they had a "slap-it-together" method

    Bullshit

  • THX 1138!! My god, I love this movie! And such a great fit for an amazing song like this. Great choice.

  • Hmm, the video reminds me of Plato's Allegory of the Cave--the struggle to break free from an artificial world of shadows and illusions so that a single individual can be exposed to the light of the real world.

  • dude.... nice work on mixing one of my fav sci fi movies from my youth <yes i was a gamming egg head at an early age... so this and 2001 space oddisy ruled for me :)>... and im a huge gabriel fan.... so TWO THUMBS UP AND A DOOBIE SMOKED IN YOUR HONOR... giggles... till next time all keep joking and smoking

    Waldstiem

  • Crow, you MUST tell me where you found this version of the song! It's not the same version that was on "Security" or on "Phenomenon".... where did you get it?? I must KNOW!!

  • TERRIFIC VID!!!!!!JUST DISCOVERED THIS AND I MUST SAY THIS WAS AWESOME!!!NICE CHOICE OF SONG AND VERY ORIGINAL CHOICE OF FILM-MOST PEOPLE WOULD HAVE CHOSEN SOMETHING STUPID LIKE TWILIGHT OR A MORE MODERN FILM WHERE THE SONG DIDN'T FIT.AHHHH EARLY GEORGE LUCAS-DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THAT!!!!

  • Is the audio of the song added, or are we hearing the music from the original edit?

  • Comment removed

  • This is some fuckin' great editing, and great song and movie choices as well!!

  • AMAZING!!!

  • hahaha....well said, mikepare1967 - @assSprinkle, time to acquire some new vocab and a broader mind, sunshine....hahahaha

  • What an amazing song....this is everything out of PG i adore. The video is clever and very well made! Love the bass line during 1:22-1:40...so hypnotic!

  • Donald Pleasence,Robert Duvall,excellence...

  • Brilliant

  • I love this vid and how you used the 83 remix for it

  • Try drink, food, cigarette, tension will not ease... just brilliant.

I swear to God, I think I can actually HEAR Peter Gabriel sweating on this song, he's so intense.

  • ...said the guy with a name "AssSprinkle" .

  • @mikepare1967 Your funny!

  • Very well done. Fits the song as if the music was made for the video.

  • Sweet!

  • Heh, it's Portal 2

  • audio is a half step sharp

  • Sounds Amazing!

  • cuz it's speeded up. that'll do it...

  • Peter Gabriel 4 ever !

  • i'm usually not up for this sort of thing, but this is really nicely done. good job.

  • very sensual video I like it

  • Sensual? How about looking to the future,

this is going to be our existence.

But, then again, you might defer, to the

idiots, who want to control you, but then

again, maybe you are already in a 'matrix'

    of self deception.

Fucking is good, control isn't, unless you

are a person, who needs to be controlled.

When a stranger, says NO, fuckem!

  • I've been a Simon Phillps fan since the WHO. Levin's bass blows me away. I've seen so many versions, some good and some not so good. Peter Gabriel rocks.

  • What Movie is this from that Duvall is playing in?

  • THX-1138

  • THX-1138

  • PS - You guys should track down the "Plays Live" version of this song, it is pretty fantastic.

  • i am having a hard time identifying this version. i own 3 versions: security, '85 remix, and phenomenon. it is not from the phenomenon soundtrack (remixed by robbie robertson), and "hit" contains the short version of that remix. it is also not the '85 remix found on the sledgehammer single. reportedly, the '83 remix on "shaking the tree" is the same as the '85 remix. i recently ordered "walk through the fire" 12" single, but the track info lists a 5:00 version.

  • Best version by far. The mix is so fat. Tony Levin's bass sound is just huge and Simon Phillips jams out hard!

  • This is absolutely the version that is on the Shaking the Tree greatest hits album. When I first got that album, I listened to this track non stop for about a month, I was obsessed with it. This is it.

  • Robbie Robertson remix I thought. This is the best version though.

  • Just a guess.....

    ART CENTER OF PASADENA??

Song and Editing Are Brilliant..., Jungian!

Where NO one Can Hear you Scream!!!!!!!!!!

    A former patient @ Arkham???????

  • The Ohio School of Broadcasting.

  • @letterstovenus No.

George Lucas' first film " THX1138"

  • @rhino1138 Wrong! It was "American Graffitti", which showcased what life was like for him in his late-teens in early-'60s Modesto, California. Unless you mean his college film... Which he made at MIT in the mid-to-late-'60s. The His first "Big-Screen" was AG, with THX being an elaboration he wished to do on his college film. I don't blame him for that because, well... Given the chance, how many of wish we could go-back & do-over what we did in college?

  • where can i get this version of the song?! legally! ;) how is it called?

it is neither on the 4th album ("security") nor on the "hit" album... :(

  • I would also like to know. Is it off of Shaking the Tree?

  • Yes. It's off Shaking the Tree.

  • This song and video are amazing! I'm blown away.

  • I wish that this version of the song were on the Security album

  • I wish there was a THX Part 2.

Would be nice for it to continue off where he stands up viewing the sun.

  • He did another version of this that ended up on the Phenomenon soundtrack, no?

  • cooooooooooooooool

  • this is the one on the bee side of walk thro the fire- 12"

  • whish I had it....

  • Well, some uneducated people might think "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has soemthing to doo with THX1138. BUT like they might as well compary Britney Spears with Peter Gabriel. They NEVER ever encountered truly good music and truly good movies.

  • i am sorry about my uneducation ( I should blame complete My complete ignorance of which ) but THX 1138 is a movie of what, and would you recommend it to watch?

  • To be honest, it's good, but i didn't enjoy it. One of the movies which transports problems. If you like movies in a way of arts this is enjoyable and you should like social criticism. What I wasn't aware of, there are already some comments pointing out that this is a movie. Well, it was highly recommended that days. (By the way, I like "Charly and the Chocolate Factory" as well. But one cannot compare them)

    Have fun

  • just great.....

  • Muy buena!!!

  • The white people here kind of remind me of oopla-loopas ... lol.

  • Awesome song! Too bad it isn't the full version, but every other video is either of the remix or the Heather Nova cover :( so this is the best there is for now!

  • YES YES THANK YOU!!!

  • genial

  • it looks like the Eisenhower Tunnel!

  • Peter Gabriel rocks!! Great choon.

  • Peter Gabriels' "I Have The Touch" is FAR better than that half-assed BULLSHIT that was "The Touch" by Stan Bush.

  • Me gusta como Peter se pone al día...el que es bueno....

  • 1:05, BEAUTIFULNESS

    ¡I have the touch!

  • agrees!

  • one of my favorite gabriel songs, goes well with this video ;D

  • Brilliant job, my friend...

  • THX 1138-George Lucas, as usual, way ahead of his time. The film was panned and did poorly at theaters. If the viewer is patient and has what it takes to make it through to the end, they will be surprised by the joy of the earth we live on, as opposed to the artificial world we weakly attempt to surround ourselves with, shutting reality out, just like I'm doing right now posting this.

  • The song and the video match perfectly.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Great video. Great song!

This version of the song sounds different from the one on Security. Was this off a single?

  • there was a remix done for the "shaking the tree" album, and yes the version is different. what is missing is that cool cow bell from the original version, which really just kicked ass. this version is not as good.

  • definitely not as good.

  • that movie looks like the plot of "the island"...

  • gonepishing: that's because Michael Bay is a goddamn retard who steals ideas from others, because he can't think of any of his own.

  • true, except you forgot the "add lots of explosions and car chases" part of the scheme

  • ab~so~total~flippin~LUTE~ly!! 8P

  • i need peter gabriel, i like peter gabriel, i have album live thank

  • Excellent work! I've resisted seeing THX-1138 for a long time, but you've inspired me to dig it out of the archives and give it a watch.

In a geekly way, I find it ironic that six years after this was done, the song featured in another movie with Robert Duvall (Phenomenon).

  • This is really good!

  • he is out there but he is still better than that bitch Phil Collins

  • I used to love this song yeas ago, but I never saw the video. And I must admit it has every single thing I imagined about the song. Masterpiece!

  • Great video of a great song of a great albums

    Frank

  • thank you so very much for this,

    Elke

  • Brilliant! Really well done (o:

  • perffect!...just perffect!... 5 stars for your great job!...

  • Interesting. I prefer his live live version of the song. The movie clips are quite disturbing.

  • What a songwriter! I really think he's underrated.

  • Great song! I'd love to hear a live version of it.

  • Brilliant! Gonna check out the movie..

  • i love the song

  • Video and music go together perfectly. good job crow

  • what movie is this from? does anyone know?

  • THX-1138

  • is that the name of the movie? if so thanks for replying... if not, well, if not, then ohh.... i think....

  • The Movie clips are from the movie THX-1138.

  • wow, well its cool to think that you can draw upon the pool of human knowledge like this, sorry for the sarcasm and i appreciate the info.... i imagine it will be hard to get a copy of this movie.... thanks, again....

  • Yeah, it can be tough to verify the name of a movie when, like me, you dont have the internet!

  • i don't like this version only heather nova's version

  • while appreciating your right to comment upon all things in this great country of ours with out censorship and penalty i have to say with the utmost certainty and conviction that you are a total twit.

  • I like this song from the Peter gabriel IV, 1982.
