9:12 did he just play the lowest C in the bass? good man, I always play it too, even though this low note didn't even exist when the sonata was written
@308813062 yea, he did. and the reason he did is because even though it wasn't written (The pianos played by beethoven didn't have this lowest C) many people agree that, had he had access to this low C, beethoven would have most certainly written it into the sonata.
@imrich6: What I have done thus far is to simply dig the file out of the cache. But now and then, with some files, there simply isn't a copy in the cache. I suppose I should go get myself some downloading software...
Yup. Barenboim is absolutely great; the camera work must be among the very worst and most amateurish I have ever seen. And worst of all. they have built in some anti-download thing so I can't get it to my hard disk. ;-)
@LorentzElena32 There is no need for much explanation on the subject of Barenboim's interpretation needed. This performance is sublime. I made the comment about the explosion of the note as something that stood out to me uniquely compared to most other performances of this movement I've watched.
Appassionata...what a great musical representation of the turbulance of human passion! It feels good to be alive!

based on the thumping, the pedalling was rather violent. beautiful interpretation nonetheless.

@cjcarrington97
well if you can explain the connection with Beethoven, Barenboim other than with some low extra-aesthetic reasons.

Hope that's cleared things.

Every time I hear this piece I get chills down my spine. One of Beethoven's best sonatas. And Barenboim is an unbelievable pianist..

This is the most magnificent masterwork for piano I ever heard... And Baremboim is unique!
