Thanks man. Good stuff! I didn't know about a couple of those input types for forms yet. By the way though for an html5 doctype declaration you would need only "html", your document actually shows an xhtml doctype declaration. Thank you again.
That was probably one of the best no-muss-no-fuss html5 tuts!! Can you do one on layouts? Obviously I'd use css, but I'm a little confused about the articles and sections. Thx!
i want to put something like audio or a video in my page, with dw cs4, i downloaded a html5 package from adobe.com. but when i use the code, i get the size of the vid, but i cant press play and there is just a black screen, with the audio, i also cant press play... please help me
@emilelampe Not all browsers support html5 yet, internet explorer 8 doesnt internet explorer 9 does a little but google chrome and firefox 4 and up should... Thats what it sounds like the problem is... a work around is you can flash embed between the tags for browsers that dont support html5
@ryanconn4 yeah i'm using everything you said, and i also looked for another vid where they do it slightly different, same results.... again, thanks for helping
Nice tutorial, cleared up some of my confusion about the new tags and stuff. Only one thing - Your !DOCTYPE is old HTML4. The new one is just '!DOCTYPEhtml'
@ElectromechanicPyro Thanks a couple of people pointed that out... it was the default set for dreamweaver and i forgot to change it... but yes if you are using strict html5 thats very important thanks... Im also glad it helped
@BeastlyRig Yes and no. There are a list of browsers that support html5 and which tags and browsers are compatible. They all should be within the next year.
Forgive me if I seem like a know-it-all because I'm very new to CSS3. Doesn't the third number for box shadow define the shadow's width? It sounded like you said it defines the bottom offset.
Hello! i just wanna ask coz i am really new to HTML5 and i have an assignment... i need to develop a dictionary application... i'm already finish with the design and some functions, my problem now is that how can i link the word inputted on the the textarea to google dictionary when you click the word to show what the word means... BIG BIG HELP HERE!!!!! my deadline is coming...

@ryanconn4 My browser is Google Chrome,if I use IE it doesn't shows anything.
If I use Chrome, it only shows the size of the vid, but a black screen and I cant press play...
emilelampe 6 months ago
@emilelampe are you using the controls parameter in the tag.... you have to use controls="controls" in side the tag along with the width and height.

@ryanconn4 Yea, I know what you mean about Dreamweaver. It looks like it is doing the predictive text thing on the new tags?? Is that the case??
ElectromechanicPyro 8 months ago
@ElectromechanicPyro yes it does that by default.... I also have a plugin installed that auto hints html5 and css3.
