  • Thanks man. Good stuff! I didn't know about a couple of those input types for forms yet. By the way though for an html5 doctype declaration you would need only "html", your document actually shows an xhtml doctype declaration. Thank you again.

  • Thank you very helpful.

  • DON'T EVER TELL PEOPLE TO GO TO W3SCHOOLS!!!!! ARGH!!!!

  • @dr798 Perhaps you'd like to elaborate as to why.. ? Is there something evil about them neither ryanconn4 nor i know?

  • @sl00tie Sorry, go to "w3fools(dot)com". That'll explain it all for you.

  • @dr798 Thanks for the URL. I really like the vast amount of examples they'e got... ; )

  • @sl00tie You're very welcome. It does show that they have some work to fix w3schools. There are just too many mistakes. :]

  • I don't know anything about web development. What IDE are you using?

  • @emale003 In that one I am using adobe dreamweaver cs5.

  • That was probably one of the best no-muss-no-fuss html5 tuts!! Can you do one on layouts? Obviously I'd use css, but I'm a little confused about the articles and sections. Thx!

  • @yvonnia123 I should be able to get one of those done... Will let you know when i finish it.

  • hey guys to test you web development code head to htmlbin(.dot)info for a free code sandbox

  • i want to put something like audio or a video in my page, with dw cs4, i downloaded a html5 package from adobe.com. but when i use the code, i get the size of the vid, but i cant press play and there is just a black screen, with the audio, i also cant press play... please help me

  • @emilelampe Not all browsers support html5 yet, internet explorer 8 doesnt internet explorer 9 does a little but google chrome and firefox 4 and up should... Thats what it sounds like the problem is... a work around is you can flash embed between the tags for browsers that dont support html5

  • @ryanconn4 My browser is Google Chrome,if I use IE it doesn't shows anything.

If I use Chrome, it only shows the size of the vid, but a black screen and I cant press play...

  • @emilelampe are you using the controls parameter in the tag.... you have to use controls="controls" in side the tag along with the width and height.

  • @ryanconn4 yeah i'm using everything you said, and i also looked for another vid where they do it slightly different, same results.... again, thanks for helping

  • Nice tutorial, cleared up some of my confusion about the new tags and stuff. Only one thing - Your !DOCTYPE is old HTML4. The new one is just '!DOCTYPEhtml'

  • @ElectromechanicPyro Thanks a couple of people pointed that out... it was the default set for dreamweaver and i forgot to change it... but yes if you are using strict html5 thats very important thanks... Im also glad it helped

  • @ryanconn4 Yea, I know what you mean about Dreamweaver. It looks like it is doing the predictive text thing on the new tags?? Is that the case??

  • @ElectromechanicPyro yes it does that by default.... I also have a plugin installed that auto hints html5 and css3.

  • @ryanconn4 is it smart to use only html 5 now?

  • @BeastlyRig Yes and no. There are a list of browsers that support html5 and which tags and browsers are compatible. They all should be within the next year.

  • dude which editor are you using ... sorry for lame question but I just started with basics

  • @nkhullar1 in this one I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS5

  • Forgive me if I seem like a know-it-all because I'm very new to CSS3. Doesn't the third number for box shadow define the shadow's width? It sounded like you said it defines the bottom offset.
