I'm a Christian and I'm against homosexuality in general, but all this stoning crap is all Old Testament and Jewish law. In the New Testament, it's still wrong (as it still is today) but Christ tells us to love everyone, but hate their sins. Anyone who is hating on gays should know one thing: You should still be friendly with the person, but you don't have to agree with everything they do (no matter how bad their lifestyle may be)!

Religion, like all things, has good and bad. Many Christians opposed slavery (the Methodist church divided over it before the Civil War as did other churches). Many churches were integral to the civil rights movement and many churches are helping with gay rights. Stereotyping is always inaccurate and weak minded.

I have had uneducated young gays smirk when they heard I was religious, but they themselves were using drugs and alcohol as crutches. The same is true for the United Churches of Christ (UCC) and also the Episcopal eons. Also Quakers. Further, there are strong gay equality movements in the United Methodist Church and the equal rights concept has movements in most Protestant denominations (with varying success). But there are millions of Christians who support equal rights. Don't stereotype.

If you go to any gay friendly church, not only will they treat you as an equal, they will fuss over you and encourage you to be a member. Religion, like all things, has good and bad. Many Christians opposed slavery (the Methodist church divided over it before the Civil War as did other churches). I have had uneducated young gays smirk when they heard I was religious, but they themselves were using drugs and alcohol as crutches. I have had Christians tell me that I couldn't be Christian if I was gay. It's all nonsense. It's best to treat each person with respect, not to lower oneself, and to judge a person by who they are, not by prejudice against faith or lack thereof. The same is true for the United Churches of Christ (UCC) and also the Episcopal eons. Also Quakers. Further, there are strong gay equality movements in the United Methodist Church and the equal rights concept has movements in most Protestant denominations (with varying success). But there are millions of Christians who support equal rights. Don't stereotype.

@mphello So the very existence of a vegan is a paradox at best… and vegans having children is outright hypocrisy. Each living vegan is negatively impacting the plant and animal kingdom. The only way to really, truly stop adversely affecting the environment is to kill yourself. So any vegan who is spreading their “faith” has obviously not killed themselves, and decided that selfishly living in knowing exploitation of nature is better… and should thus not be taken very seriously.

@mphello Addressing you as a Vegan. As a living creature ourselves, humans consume their surroundings. We breath the surrounding oxygen. We eat the surrounding plants and animals (mmm… tasty animals) We actively displace the natural environment – be it plant or animal – that would otherwise occupy our space. We consume the food and resources that would otherwise sustain that nature we are displacing. Every day we live pollutes and displaces. We are the antithesis of environmentally-friendly.

@mphello Prospective jurors were dismissed from jury service because of their race, gender, class, or even religion. Today the federal courts and most state courts have adopted outreach strategies to increase the total number of prospective jurors and to create jury pools which reflect more accurately their communities. The U.S. Supreme Court and various state courts also have made it harder for prospective jurors to be dropped simply because of a group to which they belong.

@mphello The phrase "a jury of one's peers" is a part of the American lexicon, yet surprisingly it nowhere appears in the Constitution. The 6th Amendment simply guarantees the right to "a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed." But on the Fourteenth Amendment's guarantee of "equal protection of the laws." Until very recently, the pool of potential jurors called did not reflect the diversity of their communities.
