To other people- Of course you would find lavafalls, lava pools, lava springs, etc. above ground. Notch stated in an update a while back when he brought in the biomes that lava would rarely appear above ground. (makes it easier for obsidian farming)

Lava and fire can set fire to other blocks four spaces away so I'm guessing the lava set the tree on fire which set the other trees on fire. Lava pools on the surface are natural but rare so.....there is other evidence of herobrine on YouTube check that out but this is normal
