  • uhm..i was not expecting that. i go to ryerson but for criminal justice, nothing special like ted rogers or the media school

  • Ted Rogers!

  • I can't believe i got rejected by Ryerson and got accepted by U OF T, wasn't it suppose to be the other way around. Anyways Im glad i got accepted at U of T.

  • @yoyo88ification I guess that's the stereotype, but I'm not THAT surprised. Which program was it?

  • I am not too impressed by ryerson so far

  • im in ryerson and it really sucks

  • @MysticVegitoSSJ3 why does it suck?

  • @loser078 just bad teachers, i already failed one because of this teacher who could barely speak English

  • Comment removed

  • @niranjan40 I'm not sure about that. I think so?

  • Comment removed

  • @niranjan40 uhh...from what I remember they were 80-90% but I don't think it was my marks that decided whether or not I was accepted. cause the following year, i was accepted to photography.

  • omg i justed applied for the same program as you..im so nervous...>_>''

  • @StephTwitsandTubes You'll be fine. Good luck. :D

  • i'm sorry but this is really funny

  • @OsumPossum don't be sorry. it was meant to be.

  • You can try transferring into ryerson after your first year :)

  • @hd92122 done and done.

  • Headline: "fakey mcfakes makes a fake crappy video!"

  • @rlavigne99 haha, it's true. but it DOES have almost 10 000 views, so that's something.

  • i got put on the waiting list for journalism

    so stressed!

  • I am already a student in Mechanical engineering and want to transfer to another program in ryerson... I only applied through the Ryerson application but NOT THE OUAC.. is that a problem?

  • i got accepted today :P

  • Lol, how stupid do you have to be to be rejected from rye high? I got my acceptance yesterday for Biology, definitely not my top choice.

  • you realize that the photography, film and new media programs are some of the most competitive in the school? 1 of 6 applicants get in. plus, it's not just about marks, your portfolio has to be really good too.

plus, Ryerson's a good school for certain subjects, and not so much for others. Ryerson wouldn't be my top choice for Biology either.

  • Comment removed

  • did you not hear from them until May about your acceptance?

  • @popou Yeah, I posted this video the day I got my letter. I had learned the news a couple days earlier on the OUAC website, though.

  • @loser078 so did you try reapplying?! :)

  • @TDOTEMPIRE Yeah, I'm in my 4th year in the photography program.

  • I agree. Did you know that Ryerson's Journalism program is very hard to get in and requires you to have around an 90-94% average at the end? Also, they can only selected around 90 students since there's a high demand for that program

  • @Dangthom

lol thats wrong, the average is 77-80 and they admit 152 students..

  • what ..i thought all offers are done through OUAC webpage online???

  • As soon as a decision is made, it'll show up on the OUAC website. You'll get a letter from the school soon after that with all the terms of your offer and more information about the school. You can only accept the offer through the OUAC website.

  • oh ok thats cool...so you actually know before your acceptance before ou get the letter?

  • if you happen to check OUAC in the few days your letter's in the mail.

  • Ryerson sucks anyways so I wouldn't worry too much about their rejection letter. Too many queers and feminists. I got rejected from Ryerson and I wound-up going to Edinburgh for an MBA. You should go to business school and be a real man. Art smells, that is why it rhymes with fart. Good luck and put this whole 'gayness' behind you.

  • You got rejected? hah well good because Ryerson doesn't need jerks like you period.

  • I am so happy that they didn't want me. They probably could tell that I didn't like other men. There are way too many fags there; you can actually smell the Vaseline as you walk the halls. But, hey, even gays need place to go to hang out. I think they shold ust make Ryerson a segregated gay school. It is almost there already.

  • @tothatextent someones holding a grudge....

  • @Morainehills No, not at all. I am just maing the point that not fitting into certain places sometimes puts you on the right track.

  • ryersons not easy to get in anymore retard

  • @besmart78 Rye High is what they call it.

  • Ah, NO. Why did this video have to exist, I'm working away on finishign my portfolio for film studies and have been nervous about getting in for the longest time!

I'm glad to see you got in eventually! It's nice of you to share this experience with usssssssssssss

  • haha nice 007 elevator music ;)

  • lol you got rejected to ryerson ahahahahaha

  • lol i have 446 more subscribers than you ahahahahahaha

also, I've been going to Ryerson for 2 years now, kthx

  • ok you have to be mentally retarded if you got rejected from ryerson

  • whats a good average to get into ryerson

i got onto the waitlist list for film and this year im gonna apply for that and new media...

  • I don't really know. I think it really depends on the program and it REALLY depends on your non-academic requirements. I'd say if your average is below 80, your chances are slimmer, but if you've got an 85 or higher, you've got a good chance.

Then again, this all depends on your portfolio. If your portfolio is crap, you've got no chance.

  • nice hair...

  • Wooohoo Ryerson! RyEng! RyEng...

You did get in eventually, right? I hope so... this is the best place ever! :D

  • I did get in eventually.

But for photography, which I think I'm better suited at.

  • Sweet! As long as you find your place :D

  • LOL DUDE

    pardon my language

N I HAVE TO SAY THIS

    you are F*inG hilarious

  • I like to think so.

  • yea i know WTF !

  • Hey, I got in ryerson's film studies too!

  • congrats!

  • YEAHHHHHHHHH!! i got accepted.....turning down york for ryerson cause its smack down in the middle of downtown...btw how big are the classrooms there (im talking like the sciences)?

  • You should probably ask somebody who's taking sciences.

Our lectures are 200-ish students but our labs are only about 30.

  • Wow, that must have been a total bummer with initial rejection - but sounds like you got back on your feet and are now on your way to getting what you originally wanted.

I'm still waiting to hear back for 09 Radio & Television Arts...man they are SO late getting letters sent out.

  • I'm still in gr11, but I'm looking to get into the acting program at their theatre school. I know you applied for film studies, but I want to know my chances.

  • are you....asking something?

  • Not unless you know a rough guesstimate of how many theatre applicants get in.

  • 30 out of about 1200

  • this video is amazing/hilarious

it relates to me soo much aahahah

i applied to ryerson for film studies and im praying i get in, lol

    anyway sweet video !

  • oh jesus christ this is exactly what I'm going to be doing in like 3 weeks and I have a feeling i'm going to get the same exact letter lol. I'm shitting. I applied for RTA at ryerson and film studies and I really hope I get into one cause I'm not too keen on york film. Anyone have some wisdom for me? I hopefully have to chose between york film, ryerson film, and ryerson rta. WHAT DO I DO???

  • Don't go to York unless you don't get into Ry at all.

As far as I know, film is more artsy and rta is more about the technical skills. RTA will probably give you more opportunities for work...but film will give you much different classes and assignments...so it's what you want to do.

  • ee that sucks,

hope u get in next year

  • i did.

this video was made 2 years ago.

  • applied to film at ryerson for Fall 09...Hope to get in. My grade average will be around the 86ish mark this year...My films are decent. i only have one on youtube...made it in 05

  • youve got balls for posted this rejection vid

    koodos

  • Dude so sori u did not get in i am applying as well ans GOSH im worried.

    fuking small class size.

but i checke dout your demo reel. and i have a feeling YOU did end up getting in maybe a year later or for another program becuase part of your demo reel was clearly shot in pitman hall.....so DID YA! i totolay hope you did. LOL. my hope can vicariously live through you!

  • Don't be too worried.

I never got into Film, but you're right about getting into another program a year later. I tried for Film at York and Ry-Ry the first year, screwed up my app. for York, so I got in but without a major. Did a year at York, applied again for Film at Ry-Ry and York and Photography at Ry-Ry, go rejected from both York and Ry-Ry Film, but got into Photography at Ry-Ry.

But you were mistaken about pitman hall. That was stong residence at York.

  • ya i have a feeling my photography application is TONS stronger than my film application. mostly essay wise. and i hate story board so i figured fuk it i wont include one.

BUT ill be happy if i get into photography do photo for a year and hopefully beocme a better cinematographer and apply to film.

and i applied to york to. but honestly. FUCK YORK.

  • not a bad plan. though, if you switch programs, you'll likely have to start over your 4 years once you get into film.

but at least you'll have the option: stay in photo or switch to film.

and "fuck york" is right. don't go to york, they'll fuck you in the ass.

  • lmaooo n64 goldeneye 007 elevator music ftw

  • how the fuck is it funny? u r making fun of dat guy..... why dont u tell them dat now ur on probation.......... now dats funny hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • wow great job... u should get an award for dat............ but wait , it doesnt matter now , does it? ur still on probation........ btw the only course u got higher marks than me was in geography...dats it

  • LMAO n1.

  • um yea...

Glad that you got in! I only now just found this video, and thought to comment.

PLEASE PLEASE post a video response when you get to 4th year! I have a feeling it will be a moment of great reflection upon this video.

Oh an make sure you take the studio lighting in 3rd year! Although a new prof is teaching it, and I heard mixed responses. I had the old prof. He was truly awesome.

Oh, and also post of what you think of the general ryerson admininstration! (not image arts)

  • hopefully i dunt get the same fuckin letter =( im soo stressed out

  • i don't know why i watched this twice, 3 months apart.

  • hahahaha that was funny

  • Im sorry.

I know how you feel dude.

    COOL video.

  • I just check the OUAC website, that's how I found out I got accepted to Trent and Waterloo already.

  • that fucking sucksssssssss man

my biggest stress out is that god damn letter and whether i'll get in for '09. shit.

  • aww your so cute!

  • For everyone talking about the envelope size here... just check your admission status on the Ryerson website after you apply. It updates much quicker than snail mail.

  • Oh, snap.

Hopefully going to Ryerson for Psychology in September 09.

  • good luck. see you next year.

  • So ... I'm applying to Ryerson this year, for film. Hoping to get my BA. I'm worried. D:

  • It's tough. My suggestion is to spend a lot of time on the writing portions of the portfolio.

  • What do u mean write portions on your portfolio do u mean like just producing a good quaility work? or having ur statement?

  • I mean, make sure any written aspects of your portfolio are well-written. That'll give you lots of points.

  • Ahh alrite Thks man..sucks that u didn't get to go..wat field did u apply for? (u don't have to answer if u don't want 2)

  • so did you get in to some other one, or did you try for next year?

  • I got into York that year, but after a year of York, I applied to Ryerson again and got into Photography. That's where I am now, in my 2nd semester.

  • oh cool cool...i applied there these days for the business management course; im hoping i get into that one.

  • Wow..

    Sorry.

  • i have a theory...if u get a big envolope u got exepted in...if u get a small "regular size" one then u got rejected :P i dun even bother opening my regular size letters :D

  • i was just about to say see u at ryerson...

  • haha, don't worry. this video was from over a year ago, since then I've been rejected again and then accepted to Photography, so I WILL see you at Ryerson.

  • LMFAO @ PWNED

who the fuck does that? open your webcam and start reaading your letter. LOL

  • Have you considered applying as a "part-time" student? It might be easier to get in that way.

  • this is from an article i read and it helped me out thought i would share

"Even though you undoubtedly feel disappointed by your thumbs-down college letters, your own life road will be filled with surprise twists and unexpected turns. Everyone experiences their share of rejections; what takes character is the ability to rebound from these rebuffs. So, please, head off to college with your head high because, whether you know it or not, the best is yet to come."

    so hang in there

  • LOL aww..so random..you'd be a cool kid to have around the IMA building

my bf is on wait list for Photography as well

I just finished 1st yr New Media

    Good Luck to you!

  • thanks. I hope I make it though, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • well, it turns out I will be hanging out around the IMA building soon enough, since I eventually did get accepted. Thanks for your support. Maybe I'll see you around?

  • :) Sure thing.

I'm not sure who the photography profs are but you will be having two lectures with all of the IMA kids (Art History and Concepts/V.Studies).

You probably have Slopek which is great. He's quite a character.

Be prepared to take a bunch of notes and memorize slides in Art History. Cameron is a nice guy and likes telling stories -- he may or may not be your prof for that class.

Anywho, that's my two cents. Hope you had fun at orientation and have a good first week!

  • u didn't even have to open the letter for that man~~ it was obvious...

  • I just got my letter from Ryerson today and I have been offered a place on the Wait List. It sucks, but at least it's not a complete rejection.

  • Cool! Good luck.

I got rejected from Film again this year, but I got wait listed for Photography...so we'll see.

  • LOL! "What the fuck!?!" Dude. That's funny.

  • unless you are going to journalism, you suck

  • film studies at ryerson is just as competitive as journalism if not more so.

  • ugh i know that feeling i got rejected from photography studies at Ryerson...hurts like a bitch at first

  • i applied again this year. wish me luck.

  • LMFAO

but yeah u took that screen from fallout

  • right you are. i had no idea.

  • woot! I just got in too.

good luck loser078 -- hopefully I'll see you in septemeber ---- ! I'll be like: "Hey! I say you on YouTube!!"

  • Yeah, we were checking out the Charlie's tape.

  • ooh cool. we were supposed to get a copy of that, but we never did.

i wanted to see the winning animation again. it was sooo good

  • Was that the one with the clock maker?

  • yeah!!

  • Did you apply again this year? I just got accepted.

Also, do you know Tim Wharton? lol, I noticed that you were a part of Teddy Torture, which I'm a big fan of by the way, so I assume you went to WO. I'm at WCI.

  • Yeah, I applied again. You got accepted?! Congrats, man!

And yes, I'm good friend with Tim Wharton. I'm surprised you've heard of Teddy Torture - thank you. I co-directed it.

  • Yeah, I watched it for the first time last year in my grade 11 media class. I was really impressed, it's so well done.

  • what?! you saw it in one of your classes??

  • lol...his reaction at 1:33 was the same reaction I had and all my other friends.

  • As someone who did get accepted to Ryerson film I can honestly say that you've been saved from the guillotine. Don't let their reputation fool you, this is a horrible program at a horrible school.

  • What's wrong with the program?

  • A better question would be what's not wrong with it. I can give you a complete rundown if you like, but just to summarize: underqualified professors who can't teach, out of date equipment that doesn't work properly, classes are a waste of time and much of the lecture time in tech class was spent explaining how to use equipment that hasn't been used in the industry for 25 years. Also, the Image Arts building is a crap hole, ugly brown mold stains all over the wall etc. I could go on.

  • The teachers are more than qualified, and the equipment you get access to is incredible. It might be a little dated, but it's not the equipment that makes a film, it's the filmmaker. Just because you're not innovative enough to produce something decent doesn't mean you should rag on the program. Judging by your videos, labeled as Ryerson, your work wouldn't be any better with better technology.

  • Pull your head out of your pretencious ass and think about why we would learn "out dated" technology before anything else - is it because it's best to learn the origins, the basics, and then move your way up?

The reason the film studies program is annoying is because there's whiner kids like this in it.

(The Image Arts building is okay too, it's undergoing huge renovations actually. Did you forget about that?)

  • Pull your head out of your pretencious ass and think about why we would learn "out dated" technology before anything else - is it because it's best to learn the origins, the basics, and then move your way up?

  • Justin, your response really depresses me. It's not necessary to insult someone to state your opinion. One of the few great things about our program is the support we receive from our classmates and to hear someone from my own program attack me, and the films that many people, some of who I'm sure you know Justin, worked very hard to make, it's just very sad.

  • We're all just learning. I don't want anyone to get the wrong about the program, this kind of personal attack is generally not accepted by both students and faculty. The environment is generally very supportive. Justin, you don't know me and I don't know you. Don't presume that you know anything about me. I'm not going to judge you based on your one response. I watched some of your videos and enjoyed them, so best of luck.

  • A few more thing though: A recent survey found that Ryerson has one of the highest dissatisfaction rate for first year students. And, sadly, despite what we are often told, the percentage of graduates of the film program who actually find work in the film industry is extraordinarily small.

  • Don't give me that. You plainly stated that the teachers were unqualified (a personal attack itself - towards many people that I respect) and that equipment was outdated (clearly an uninformed statement as well, as the equipment is great, despite not being used by blockbuster Hollywood?). In any case, I resent those statements, and if you're as dissatisfied as you say, why would you continue in the program?

  • Calling some one a pretentious ass is not a criticism, it's immature name calling. If you want to offer helpful comments about my films, I welcome it. I don't know what happens in your classes Justin, but nobody hesitates from offering negative criticism in ours. It sounds like you need to learn the difference between saying something simply to be mean, or saying something to help somebody make better films. Please tell me, how would your statements about my films how to refine my ideas?

  • You can't tell me you don't notice the difference between Ed Slopek's classes ( who has a PH'd) and Garrick Filewood classes (who only has a Bachelor' degree in an field unrelated to what he's teaching.)

  • Oh, if you are trying give a positive view of the program, you probably shouldn't call another student disrespectful names. That kind of thing doesn't exactly reflect the quality that you believe the school has.

  • I can't believe you're taking this so seriously. It's youtube, fella', get a grip.

PS: Garrick rules, don't even start on him. He did "Heavy Metal"!

  • It is just youtube, but you insulted me and many other people who worked hard on those films, people who are only a year above you in the same program, a program in which reputation and respect is very important. That's all I'm going to say.

  • Well, then why did you disrespect a whole faculty of professors? I'm sure they'd be disappointed to hear you say they're unqualified.

  • Also, I'd like to note that I simply said "better" technology would not have made your videos any better. That is not an insult, it's a fact. Your videos' quality (which I had never deemed poor - they are actually quite well done and I like The Recreation a lot) would not be significantly higher if you were using different equipment. I mean, it may look sharper, but it doesn't change your ideas and it doesn't change your overall impact. It shouldn't, anyway.

  • I find that one of the major downfalls of the program is that we're not encouraged to criticize other's work, and therefore, there's no real-world let downs. It's 100% frowned on to say a film hasn't "worked", and that's kind of disappointing. I find that negative criticism is helps me refine my ideas. But anyway, whatever. It's not a big deal, I'm just giving him a hopeful, positive view of the program.

  • And maybe I should rephrase my statement about the teachers. Many of the teachers are underqualified to be teaching at a university level. Justin, this is not an opinion, this is fact. The majority of universities disallow people from joining faculty that do not posses the proper education, Ryerson being the exception.

  • Then, which school do you suggest?? Sheridan College??

  • try Centennial College Broadcasting+Film program.I guess after 1 year or so u can transfer to universities much easier.

  • Thick letter- you're in Thin letter- you're out

  • Doing masters there

  • Ryerson acceptance letters tend to be small. My early acceptance letter(to RTA 4 years ago) was standard size.

  • when bouts do they send out early acceptance for rta? cuz i got early acceptance for all my programs EXCEPT rta...

  • Is it hard getting into fashion for ryerson?

  • I couldn't tell you. I don't know anything about their fashion program.

  • heck yes, its hard. I went to the ryerson open house and they asked those who were interested in fasion to move to anouther building - and like half the auditorium was emptied out

  • Damn...

  • do you have any more info about the fashion program at ryerson? because i really want to apply to their program, but i just don't know if i'll get in, cause i heard that only about 100 students a year get in...:(

  • no worries...i applied to ryerson and i didnt get in but even if i did i didnt wanna go there for reasons...good luck in the future no matter where you go. ryerson said this yr was really competitive and there were like twice the amount of applicates that had from last yr..

  • yo...acceptance letters from Ryerson are bigger than that man!! lol The only time u get those big envelopes is when u get accepted or when u get a disciplinary notice! anyways man, hope u luck in whatever university u wanna go to!

  • going through the first 2 years of film, you could at least learn the basics and the history behind film which will become valuable to you in the future. dont expect too much hands on stuff though cus afterall it's a university. if youre aiming for a hands on environment, try the Toronto Film School? my friend goes there and he loves it

  • yeah, I know there are a lot of good schools that give you a lot of great hands-on experience, but I was really hoping to get a university degree...so i'm not sure if TFS is really for me.

  • if you like film, stick with it and apply for it again. you can make the switch from new media to film but i dont know how successful of a jump that would be. I tried switching over to film after my first year but a advisor told me i'd have to take the whole first year all over again because of the course difference btw new media and film althought they're still image arts programs. we do have 2 courses in common which are Art History and Theories

  • im in new media 3rd year and i dont like the program. mainly because im more of a film guy and going into this program isnt really for me. the main 'hands-on' thing we do are art installations. but the upside in your 3rd/4th year in the image arts program is that you could select courses related to film (as your professional studies/electives) and that's what i am doing right now.
