@nofatchxplzthx "the force that holds the atoms together is weaker than the force that repels them apart" excuse my ignorants.. but why or how did it stick together in the first place?
At 0:50 you say: "Half life is the time that it takes for half of the atom to decay. . ." Half life is NOT the time for half an atom to decay. It either fully undergoes decay or it doesn't, half life has nothing to do with half and atom decaying. A single atom cannot half-decay. Half life is when half the unstable nuclei in a substance have decayed and the other half has not yet decayed. Sorry FAIL.
are you kidding me ... if someone explains anything like that I wouldn't understand a thing. I am wondering if the speaker even believes in what she's talking about.
are you kidding me ... if someone explains anything like that I wouldn't understand a thing. I am wondering if the speaker even believes in what he's talking about.
im not a scientist or any thing but wouldn it be possible to re program a micro wave oveno power all the planet and we could maby also get free sat nav and sport utility vechicals
the half life does not have anything to do with individual atoms. It is defined as the time required for a radioactive substance to lose 1/2 of its radioactivity. This means that when there is a known amount of radioactive substance, after 1 half life the activity will be exactly half of what there was originally. There is absolutely no way of knowing when a single atom will decay. It is simply impossible.
You aren't explaining things in a simple way to the benefit of anyone.
You are explaining things that are clearly new to you, and that you don't have a good grasp of. This is obvious by your use of vague and incorrect terms, and the general tone in your voice.
On the other hand this is better then most videos young kids post, so kudos. Just don't think you're ready to be the teacher quite yet.
i understand this video,.. does that make me smart now? ... lol
btw, @ video uploader, what particle does that radioactive atom gives off? ... and how many particle per seonds does it give off? .... .. im asking these question because i was wondering if that event takes place for a period of time, that object (as a whole) will just disappear.... am i right? ...
- you can do some research on it if you dont know the answer....
No, the half life is not the time it takes half of the atom to decay but is" The time required for one-half of a given material one-half of any quantity of identical radioactive atoms to undergo radioactive decay
Well, in the case of this video the atom shown is un-named, and can therefore be giving off alpha and beta radiation, which is the particle itself, or gama radiation which is just a ray of energy, so it can go either way
@pyrot3chs uhm .. actually .... gamma rays are particles of light ..... light by the way contains energy therefor is not a form of energy .... light is made of a particle known as photons ...
Don't explain shit you do not understand. I hate kids like you who attempt to explain such a concept and fail horribly.
Radioactive decay is not simple. I assure you it utilizes far more elementary physics and mathematics than you are capable. Furthermore, you know nothing of simple quantum mechanics... nor of simple expoential decay.
No where did i mention that this was "simple", only rather the entire concept. Not to mention that of course i didnt go in depth becasue 99% of the youtube community is far too undereducated to grasp such a subject. this is a general overview, not a college lecture...
@pyrot3chs got a question for you when we bombard a neutron on uranium it gives off 2 neutrons+ba+kr+energy so my question is if we want to quicker the process is it possible to release 4 neutrons instead of two giving off two other minor elements different than ba and kr ?
@pyrot3chs Shut the fuck up and get serious haters. Yes, I have elevated diction and can confuse the fuck out of you just by vocabulary words but I am trying to learn and got sidetracked bc I read some of the bs comments. This kids trying his best to help and if the information is wrong than why the fuck dont you make a video yourself and explain to those of us that are searching for knowledge. Anyways thanks for your time even though this video did not help me I am sure you helped a few others.
@MrMadness87 If you are trying to make a one sentence clever witty comment, blowing the word "your" and putting down "you" instead leaves you looking like the idiot.
By the way, I'm sure it's not the only thing you blow.
@TiminPhoenix ehem clever boy, where im from "your" sounds the same as "you", its slang you wouldnt understand. i dont care if it sounds out of context. my comment was funny, i dont care if you didnt think it was funny.my mom ses im funny so i am
@TiminPhoenix If where you are from Your sounds like you, then you must be at some State Hospital for "Special Needs Kids." And your mom only says that, because the same LSD that caused your birth defect causes her to laugh at your comments, the weather report, the sound of paint drying...
Don't apologize for that. These people are such losers that they can't even find a creative way of insulting you, so they point out your mispronunciation .
however, I agree that you can't simplify quantum mechanics.
this was very simple and lovely .. u just explained it widelly and injected to my brain .. thanx to whoever you are .. thanx thanx

if you reverse the process, lets say zinc, has a half life of 145 years, so if i went back and time 145 years, my zinc would have doubled right?
theREALiceveela 1 year ago
@theREALiceveela no other way round, so if zinc has a half life of 145 years then the number of radioactive atoms in the zinc would have halfed.

Is light produced during this process? Or in any other small scale decay / irradiation devices?
SparkySubie 2 years ago
There are three different types of decay:
Alpha
Gamma
Beta +- (positron/electron emmitted as a proton/neutron becomes a neutron/proton + of course, a neutrino )
emag produced, thus light could be produced, though most of the photons have a far higher frequency as their kinetic energie (hf) must be great.
killarcha 2 years ago
Since when is "beta" pronounced "bayta"?
In Greek it's pronounced veeta! and in proper English (i.e not UMERICAN) it's pronounced beeta! (which is much closer to the Greek!)
phantaros 2 years ago
Well, im sorry for mispronouncing it but beta is often pronounced the way I said it, and it doesn't really matter.
