It either fully undergoes decay or it doesn't, half life has nothing to do with half and atom decaying. A single atom cannot half-decay. Half life is when half the unstable nuclei in a substance have decayed and the other half has not yet decayed. Sorry FAIL.

  • the half life does not have anything to do with individual atoms. It is defined as the time required for a radioactive substance to lose 1/2 of its radioactivity. This means that when there is a known amount of radioactive substance, after 1 half life the activity will be exactly half of what there was originally. There is absolutely no way of knowing when a single atom will decay. It is simply impossible.

  • Well, in the case of this video the atom shown is un-named, and can therefore be giving off alpha and beta radiation, which is the particle itself, or gama radiation which is just a ray of energy, so it can go either way

    Radioactive decay is not simple. I assure you it utilizes far more elementary physics and mathematics than you are capable. Furthermore, you know nothing of simple quantum mechanics... nor of simple expoential decay.

    Alpha

    Gamma

    Beta +- (positron/electron emmitted as a proton/neutron becomes a neutron/proton + of course, a neutrino )

    emag produced, thus light could be produced, though most of the photons have a far higher frequency as their kinetic energie (hf) must be great.
