I have great news for T-Mobile customers. The deal fell through. No hike in rates, no loosing features. I'll still be able to tether my phone with the built in WiFi hotspot for no additional charge. The built in analog modem in my old phone will still work. I tried AT&T for a week and switched to T-Mobile because half the features in the phone quit working with an AT&T SIM card. I'm very happy the deal fell through.

One thing that would kill Verizon fans would be if AT&T got back the iPhone exclusivity rights. Apple doesn't like Verizon from the getgo because of their wireless technology CDMA and says it's not supportive around the world. Apple can easily decide to switch back to AT&T now that they have the better coverage and network.

@SonicProwler15 I have had T-Mobile for a week and it hastpoor audio quality, drops calls, incomplets, spotty reception in some buildings. This is not the case with other carriers. Since I ended my Verizon 2 year contract I am trying others now. Several people I know have some good sounding audio on theirs. I was hoping T-mobile's would imporve as I like the phone and dont feel like returning it. Also T-M is not second according to all the CNET reviews and JD Power reviews. Check facts

When it comes to dropped calls, T mobile has a 2.3% rate, making them second best in call reception only surpassed by Big red. Sprint follows in 3rd at 2.7% and ATT at over 5%.
I've yet to have a convincing argument besides "better coverage" let me know How I will benefit from this.

I'm with ATT right now and I hate it. 3g my ass, I get more dropped calls with em then when I was at Alltel with EdGE. So now I was thinking about going to tmobile cause I've been eyeing their new unreleased phone G2x. But now I hear that att is gonna buy them too!! So disappointed.

If against verizon, no. Verizon bought Alltel for spectrum and as a result, they have an increasing 4G footprint of which they don't need to wait on regulators for. ATT will need to wait for regulators to approve, and on top of that keep to their promise to slowly integrate T mobile 3G towers, otherwise they'll face a lawsuit from both consumers and federals.
Hell, Sprint has better 4G coverage in many markets.

I can appreciate analogies. They help paint a picture. The picture you paint really only represents the size of customers in their database. Customer service both Tmobile and Verizon consistently beat At&t. So, if I used your same analogy then At&t was 6 or 7 and Verizon and T-Mobile are 8. I I had enough chars remaining then I could use that same logic and paint a more clear picture of customer service, Network quality, coverage and handset selection to paint a better more accurate picture.

These are all rates calculated without doing any sort of other service(no pandora in the background ect..). and considering that these 3 things are critically high selling points for AT&T devices(mostly apple), it's safe to say that a tmobile smartphone user gets nothing. That's your 2GB cap in a nutshell.

Wi-fi is limited to about 300 Ft. from any given building and not every building has an at-t hostpot.
I'd have to move, lose the connection, re-connect anytime I went anywhere such as traveling. 3G is everywere, and with the increasing data usage for anything, AT&T will have to raise the cap if even slighly higher to avoid defections. The've already crippled their 4G phones So I won't even bother with that.

@TheSalater I don't work at a store. I work at a T-Mobile call center. Call centers are buildings that are rented out. It doesn't take much to terminate a lease or send my job overseas. I don't see how it's retarded of me to be scared about losing my job. Almost all T-Mobile call center reps are in a panic over this. It's easy for someone who isn't financially being effected by this to think it's nothing but when you aren't sure if you are going to have a job to pay rent, it becomes an issue.

Ive been with Aerial back in 1997 which changed to Voicestream then T-mobile to the present 2011. Which is 14 years, now Im going to have to shop around unless the plans are the same as or better than T-mobiles current.

@joseramirez2011 If the battle is meant against T mobile/Sprint or GSM then yes.
If against verizon, no. Verizon bought Alltel for spectrum and as a result, they have an increasing 4G footprint of which they don't need to wait on regulators for. ATT will need to wait for regulators to approve, and on top of that keep to their promise to slowly integrate T mobile 3G towers, otherwise they'll face a lawsuit from both consumers and federals.
Hell, Sprint has better 4G coverage in many markets.

I can appreciate analogies. They help paint a picture. The picture you paint really only represents the size of customers in their database. Customer service both Tmobile and Verizon consistently beat At&t. So, if I used your same analogy then At&t was 6 or 7 and Verizon and T-Mobile are 8. I I had enough chars remaining then I could use that same logic and paint a more clear picture of customer service, Network quality, coverage and handset selection to paint a better more accurate picture.

1. AT&T is aquiring only Spectrum/towers in the USA from T-Mobile USA, Deutsche Telekom Still retains it's tower's worldwide.
2. The break up of the money: 5 billion from AT&T with a 20 Billion dollar loan, and 14 Billion in stock which gives 8% of AT&T to Deutsche Telekom which in turn makes Deutsche AT&T's largest shareholder(not a majority) and gives them a seat on the board of directors.
That's the deal in full.

2nd look at the transaction. 39 Billion plus an extra 8 they are dedicating to integration of the 2. That's 47 Billion they could have spent upgrading their network, which is more than enough.

Wi-fi is limited to about 300 Ft. from any given building and not every building has an at-t hostpot.
I'd have to move, lose the connection, re-connect anytime I went anywhere such as traveling. 3G is everywere, and with the increasing data usage for anything, AT&T will have to raise the cap if even slighly higher to avoid defections. The've already crippled their 4G phones So I won't even bother with that.

@TheSalater I don't work at a store. I work at a T-Mobile call center. Call centers are buildings that are rented out. It doesn't take much to terminate a lease or send my job overseas. I don't see how it's retarded of me to be scared about losing my job. Almost all T-Mobile call center reps are in a panic over this. It's easy for someone who isn't financially being effected by this to think it's nothing but when you aren't sure if you are going to have a job to pay rent, it becomes an issue.

And I have the advantage here. Under Contract Law they have to honor the remainder of my 2 year, If they so much as change one thing before it expires(such as cut my data), I can leave free of charge or they can talk to my lawyer.
Simple mobile is like the metro PCS for T mobile instead of verizon. So I would actually be SAVING money.
So yes, I'll have fun knowing I can leave at the buyout or at the end of my 2 year.

The cell phone industry is the largest industry in the US and in my eyes one of the most important. Think about how many BIG names are in our databases, how much personal information is in one's cellular device, hence why Federal heads have to approve of this. It's crazy how dependent the world is on one device.....
