  • yeah there is 5 pages worth of people on whosampled , who sampled this song

  • used in many rap songs as a sample

    anyone got a list?

  • ty FOR STILL HAVING THIS ON YOUTUBE- i WAS ONE OF THE GIRLS IN THE VIDEO, I REMEMBER GOING TO nyc & THEY DID NOT ONLY THIS ONE, BUT "YOU SHOULD BE HIGH LOVE" DID THAT EVER GET TO VIDEO? WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE OVER 30 YEARS AGO... AND I STILL ROCK- GO TO CONCERTS ALL THE TIME!!!!

  • Roxanne Roxanne By UTFO 1984....

  • What the fuck, did you record this with a camcorder?

  • dizzee rascal ripped this

  • @achmadim So did Jay Z apparently in 99 problems

  • OIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIii

  • this is the most sampled song of all time dont beleive me look it it up

  • So THIS is where Jack White stole his sound from! ;-)

  • So pure, so raw, so sexy.

  • Amen to that.

  • lol

  • You Should be High Love was a Great Tune off of this album too!!!! I had the tape 'till somebody dumped BEER...FKT it up!!!!

  • I love his signature hip-rockage-- swingin' that guitar around. It makes me laugh but I likeit! :P

  • This Kicks Ass! It would even be better with a 10 minute "beat" interlude. Hint hint.

  • Yeah, Bobby (R.I.P.) was definitely underrated! Glad I got to see him twice w/ Billy.

  • Great vibe & video. Bobby C & Leo Haze (Y&T) are my favorite Thunderfoot drumers.

  • the 1st true Hip Hop beat!

    da relic

  • Search 'Amen Brother'

    You'll learn alot

  • yea... ive known about that for yrs now... but THIS was THE beat in NYC.

    da relic

  • dizzee rascal ...dan le sac vs scroobius pip...oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 2:10...... ha ha ha ive got the big beat i feel the sound...we owe it to billy thank you for inspiring through out the generations...who would have known ha ha ha lmfao happy fuckin boose year

  • Chouniard has such a heavy foot. His kick is just a fraction of a second slow. Gives you a Bonham feel. Great cruisin beat.

  • As Heard On: * Ice Cube - Jackin' For Beats * Special Ed - The Mission * Big Daddy Kane - Put Your Weight On It * Big Daddy Kane - Get Down * A Tribe Called Quest - We Can Get Down * EPMD - Get Wit This

  • Joe Budden - Wait a Minute, Jay-Z - 99 Probs

  • B-Squier is the man, this is the most sampled song in hip hop history,,, for real...

  • Sampling: The art of the uncreative and unoriginal

Squier could (can) carve up a guitar.

  • Squier was, after all, a lead guitarist BEFORE a lead singer as well.

As to Bobby, no question he was phenomenal, a great compliment to one of the most talented rock stars of all time, Squier himself.

As to sampling, this is the MOST SAMPLED track of all time in hip hop. Period.

  • Why are you looking at sampling as negative? Thanks to this record being sampled all over the place, Billy Squier truly can do whatever he wants.

I'm sick of rockers and guitarists hating on hip hop. It's 2008. Appreciate that people like other people's work and find common ground.

  • This track is so awesome. I turns out it was also sampled for Jay-z's "99 Problems". That, and they sampled part of the Wilson Picket track: "Get me back on Time, Engine number 9". Great original!

  • Bobby Chouinard never gets the credit he deserves for his drum sound.

  • It wasn't the drummer. It was Squier banging on something.

  • dayum! the original DOES rock! I was wondering where those rappers got this sample from!

  • I just realised where Dizzy Rascal got this sample from I've never heard the original before now.

  • Every new batch of kids forgets what transpired only 20 years earlier. Wonder where Squier got this? :)

  • the song rocks!

  • Yep, this is the most sampled song in music history... Billy is on tour this summer with Ringo Starr! :)

  • What the hell do you base that on?

  • Sampled to death, for sure - but I think the most sampled song in history would be James Brown's "Funky Drummer"

  • actually "when the levee breaks" is the most sampled, w/ Funky Drummer a close second.

  • How come nobody ever mentions "Calley Oh" any more? Definately the best song on Tale of the Tape. Saw him play it live and instantly became my favorite BS song. Was there ever a video of it?

  • Will someone load more of this album-please!

  • Song kicks ass...On the record with this one he had a cool tune called Rich Kid and Who's Your Boyfriend...The Tale Of The Tape rocked!

  • the big beat is the Most sampled track of all time!

  • Nope, goole the Amen Break.

  • Its pretty amazing how so many hip hop artists use this song eg Dizzee Rascal and Jay-Z

  • Like the song says, it's got the Big Beat.

  • I still think Billys' got alot more to contribute musically,Dont say no still Rocks with the best of em.

Its sad when an artist puts so much of their heart and soul into something to have the music media pigeonhole and catagorize it,also! the Christmas Blues tune Billy did is awsome, its called Christmas is a time to say I love you,Its one of my favorite holiday tunes,Makes me look forward to the holidays,a time I usually am bummed,Thanks to Billy,YOU ROCK,how about some new material.

  • lol, dizzee rascal basically ripped off this song

  • I think you mean 'sampled'. Moron.

  • I am quite fucking aware that he "sampled" the song, what I mean is that the beat in Fix Up, Look Sharp is pretty much unmodified from the original (although heavier). It's a good song, but not so original. Prick.

  • Ack, sorry :| Just when I read 'ripped off', I figured that someone else might not have realised it was a sample. Apologies.

  • No problem ;)

  • Apologies to you too for calling you a prick :)

  • No worries :D

  • yea i heard billy ghost wrote dizzee's whole album too.

  • loved this album! billy was way underrated

  • Agreed. He's really one of the most influential yet completely overlooked pop artists of the 1980s.

  • This is what Billy said in a Boston Globe interveiw regarding The Big Beat: "It's the most sampled song in history - they said that on MTV, so even if I'm wrong, I'm not making it up. The intro of the song is me with my hands in a trap case, beating on the side of it. I just walked around the studio banging on stuff, looking for a sound. . . . People sometimes write that Billy is the king of hip-hop. I didn't even know what hip-hop was then."

  • The drums on this song are absolutely monstrous, no wonder everyone wants/wanted to sample this

  • fuck yes..

  • the song rocks! Thanks!

  • anyone have any Piper footage?

  • no piper footage but ive still got 4 piper albums, now all i have to do is convert them to cd.

  • I only have 2 Piper Albums (Piper & Can't Wait); what were the others?

  • i believe those are the only two

  • utfo a rap group used this for their song "roxanne'roxanne" masta killa from the wu tang clan also sampled this.

  • The "Rock Me Tonight" video is much better.

  • Billy IS THE MAN!!!!

  • I want to buy an mp3 of this. can someone direct me to a site? I don't want to have to pay a lump sum up front. Just pay for individual songs KWIM?

  • anyone have or seen billy's "nobody knows" on here. please email if you do

  • Love this dude, what a kick-ass anthem. He's got a hell of a voice---smooth like milk.

  • I love this song, didn't know there was a video for it.Love it!

  • What a phenomenal find and awesome song! Haven't listened to this "tape" in awhile but it is a rocker...laid the groundwork for "Don't say No" in a big way!

  • Still sounds good. I hope Squire is getting paid for all of the rap groups that have used that drum part as a sample over the years...Dizzy Rascal etc.

  • Apparently he's doing very nicely out of it.According to MTV he's the most sampled person ever!

  • he is not the most sampled person ever. mtv has their facts wrong. the most sampled beat ever is "amen brother" by the winstons. squire isn't even close to being at the top of that list. james brown, the art of noise and countless others have been sampled more than squire. he's been sampled, but not as much as others.

  • The "ahmen break" you are correct
