Ahaha, the music here was just perfect. I always tell people - Spock is actually quite the emotional little thing, you've just got to appreciate Nimoy's subtlety and sometimes not subtlety with his expressions. It's brilliant stuff. xx
This what I always enjoyed about this show--subtle humor and the "non-emotional" Spock was always showing emotions with his facial expressions and eyebrow lifts.
@Llaaseil What fascinates me and which I find remarkable is the measure and composure with which, in a few gestures and movements Nimoy is able to express Spock's emotions: this never stop to amaze and delight me!
I always thought Kirk was terribly thoughtless here, making out like that in front of Spock....
Kirk''s definitely at his worst in the whole episode (as he himself admits at the end)--and yet in the end, Spock comes to his rescue and comforts him anyway.
The way Kirk and Spock are so good to each other, despite each one's faults and failings, makes theirs an inspiring model of loving friendship.
You did a beautiful job with the slow-motion. Thank you!

@frescadp Yes, it is almost incredible the patience and depth of feelings of Spock for Jim! They are so full of nuances and the actors make them so perfectly that I really struggle to remember that I have to deal with fictional characters! Really I love both Shatner and Nimoy: if only I see that movement of the head and the look of Spock and I see Kirk's expression while dancing with Ryna, I wonder how one can really believe that other people can be Kirk and Spock!
I cannot decide if Spock is cutest when he has a bitter smile, or when he is sad in his self-possessed way...or...well...Spock is ALWAYS gorgeous! ^__^
@Orypeci Oh, no, it was not just you who noticed! ^__^ And there are many other scenes: in The city on the edge of forever mentioned by ImaginarySanity, in Shore leave, in The conscience of the king on the bridge, in Court martial when Jane accuses Jim of murder...in the most of TOS episodes you can catch glances about Spock suffering for Kirk. In this case he is fascinated by the music and cannot help but playing, but he doesn't likes indeed what is happening!
Oh, so exciting! Your plan to show moments when Spock is embarrassed by Kirk's behavior! When i close my eyes, i can already see some of these moments. Just like this one...poor Spock...always the victim and never the glorious winner...He was always bullied, like in Galileo 7 and many others. Thank you Annafrancesca!
Ah...well, if you were poor leutenant Gaetano I'm not so sure that you were so fond of Spock! ^__^
Seriously, I would not say that Spock is bullied, but certainly Kirk is the only one who accepts him for what he is and as he is. In The Galileo 7 for example I'd like to strangle Bones because he attacks Spock constantly hindering him instead of helping!
@ImaginarySanity Unfortunately I do not have time to make videos, but I would collect all the scenes from TOS where Spock clearly suffers for the behavior of Kirk. Everywhere in TOS these are nothing more than nuances, but barely perceptible expressions so intense as to be real and to create the persons in flesh, bones and feelings: Spock really gets out of Leonard Nimoy's control breathing alive as the half Vulcan strafleet officer. In the same way Kirk gets out of William Shatner's control!
@annafrancesca1 So true! The scene that sticks out to me is the one in City on the Edge of Forever where Spock walks out to see Edith and Kirk are kissing on the stairs, then walks back inside with his head down!
Leonard Nimoy; best actor in the universe

@xMikanNamix I agree! Nimoy's is just perfect, no one else can reach his nuances and subtlety in playing Mr. Spock!

I will try to not over-analyze this clip, but simply sit back, watch, smile, and enjoy it. Great choice of music, as always.

@nterpri Thanks! Thanks dear nterpri, I'm so happy that you liked!
I'd like to make something more elaborate than jus one or two scenes in slow motion, but time is so tyran with me in these last months!

XD You know, the first time I saw this scene I noticed this and was thinking how sad that was. Glad it wasn't just me who noticed. XD

@ImaginarySanity : Yes, you are right, Vulcans have emotions but they have learnt to suppress them.
