@MrMhmm: Great video and props for using your signal. Folks, cars that see you in their mirror...FAST...have no idea what your next move is. When in traffic, patience is key, too. I just got a white 200hp, 2002 RSX 5 speed and LOVE IT. Your car is a beast!
@Hellz420 The vehicle was in the appropriate gear to get the turbo spooling, however, to avoid any lag altogether and to get the "jump" from the roll, brake boosting is the most common way.
Great vid man. Love the appreciation for the other guy. I'm actually pretty impressed that he got you too. I'm an Integra guy and I went into this video thinking I was about to watch the Acura lose. Nice ride on both sides in this one.
One of my friends attending an auto trade school told me that RSX Type S' made after the year 2003 for some reason have stronger engines than the ones made in previous years... can someone confirm this for me?
@NyCDeViL9010 RSX was made in 2002, Later model 2002 and 2003 + have stronger valve springs. 2005-2006 have different cams that are slightly more beneficial for N/A applications.
yo whats up bro, i just got a comptech kit for my type s used with the 750cc injectrs and 9psi belt. everything is there but a couple screws and bolts. but other than the kit, i/h/e, kpro, and mounts. is there anything else i should look into getting? will i need to do anything with the fuel pump? i shouldnt need to get an intercooler for 9psi right? dude if you could help me out man id appreciate it. thanks bro.
@suckuhhballbag420 You dont need an aftercooler or fuel pump at that level but they will help if you look to increase HP or go with an aftercooler application.
@suckuhhballbag420 hey bro look into the after-cooler that will help a lot with cooling. u just bought a 03 rsx s with the jackson racing super charger and the first thing im doing with it is upgrading the cooling. i am probably going to buy a mishimoto thermostat w/ mishimoto racing radiator and dual fans with fan shroud and the after cooler. that should be sufficient enough for cooling i am also pushing 9 psi
@golsonkp what a shitty opinion, usally i like turbos better than s/c, but not on a stock k20 block s/c is better, for a driver. Rotrex is the best new s/c for k20...
Honestly, both cars have very similar engines with nearly identical bore + stroke. The only real difference is the K20 pulls longer because of the head
@youwannafanta Shut the fuck up roll racing is for queers, your probably a AWD fan boy. Of course the Evo is going to take it. If anything a roll race compares any two cars on performance alone.
plus the rsx has higher compression compared to the evo. you can add more boost to the evo, but you can't replace the efficiency of the rxs's higher compression.
@hitmangui2 Again, do your own research, let me give you a couple hints.
PSI is a measure of restriction, its not a measure of horsepower. 10 PSI on a Gt28 RS and 10 PSI on a Gt35r tuned correctly will make different horsepower, so your whole theory on boost determines horsepower is out the window.
Regardless of that, take a the rsx which is lighter, better gearing, stronger powerband, flatter torque curve, and excellent top end in comparison to an EVO that cant breath up top, and there you go.
@MrMhmm I really don't think that flowrates have anything to do with this. Qin vs Qout in this case is arbitrary. I believe what you'd be looking for is boost vs RPM and displacement for each...
@Billboard2001 Sorry man that makes absolutley no sense... The evo produces more boost at any given RPM apples to apples, and the both have the same displacement of 2.0 Liter.... so??? Again, we are comparing power to weight ratio, gearing, powerband. The CFM produces by the RSX isnt exactly more then an EVO since the power to weight ratio is better and the gearing.
@MrMhmm Well it's examining this through an engineering point of view. What does a supercharger have that a turbo does not? Constant boost. It's either on or off whereas a turbo has to build to peak boost by using the engine's current CFM flow (a volume per time) to spin the turbine. So in lay man's terms, a supercharger has somewhat of a jump start. And as you pointed out the power to weight ratio is gonna play a big part as well.
@Billboard2001 At any given time the Evo produces more boost (if you ever drove one as soon as you tap that gas its making atleast 10 psi), and has instant and more torque off the punch regardless of theories of engineering. Look in the video it took the RSX two gears to catch up to the Evo. That in itself says that the constant boost pressure and instant power of the supercharger is meaningless. All this video shows is the Evo has no top end. Thanks though.
@hitmangui2 Ever hear of power to weight ratio? Also don't forget the final drive in the RSX is higher then the EVO, meaning faster acceleration for the RSX. One other thing that probably doesn't matter is the fact that the supercharger make power as soon as you punch it due to the fact that it runs off the motor. Turbo has a small amount of lag before it hits peak boost. The RSX hits peak boost before the EVO, but that's NOT the race winner here. It's all power to weight ratio.
RSX! Got a Teggy n' wantin' one!!! Nice race, shyt was movin' n' some random shyt an RSX with a supercharger, love turbo tho. V-Tech! Shyt spanked the Evo.
nice rsx... Vtec is at around 5800 in a type -s dude...not 3000... And most likely there was no vtec "sound" because of tuning software, such as a k-pro which evens out the vtec crossover, making the engagement almost un-noticable and the power curve much more linear.
@MrMhmm hes right im planing on dropping my v-tec as well to 4,,,,it origionally kicks in arround 6000 and ends arround 7900 i have an rsx type s 2003 and getting a turbo this summer... cant wait!!!
@chenster420 you can here vtec kicking in when the engine gets noticably louder. on a stock type s vtec engages around 6000rpms but with a ECU tune it could be as low as 3500, 4000

deddjay 1 year ago
You wont be hearing vtec in this video cause on supercharged applications vtec is commonly found in the 3000 RPM range. Which is found to be ideal.
Moreover, this video shows a 40 MPH roll, which starts for the RSX in the 6000 RPM range, so you wouldnt hear vtec regardless.
Last but not least, the supercharger and nitrous really limits hearing vtec engaging unless you are in the car, and even then its subtle.
