  • who is Jack?

  • Has nobody clicked yet they he's playing a lad called Jack and his actual name is Jack...?

  • I learnt all the lines in this scene when i was nine, watching it over and over! I bloody love it :D

  • amazing actor, i wish he never grew up! lol

  • I just noticed Jack slightly mouths Oliver's lines when the camera shot is on him towards the end of the clip before the song starts.

  • Still can't get over the fact that Jack's dead. Best Dodger there will ever be.

  • darling child, that Jack ;)

  • LOL! LOVE da way Jack throws da bread at the street sweeper!! XD SOOO FUNNY!! @ 1:00-1:05 XD

  • @acegang11 when'll u get da results? hope you get it ^_^

  • there both soooo adorbs! were doing oliver for a play, and i auditioned for dodger!!crossing my fingers!

  • Dodger is sooooooo cute!!!!

  • It's funny, when I first heard Dodger saying his name was Dodger, with his accent I thought he said his name was Thoncha and all the other characters weren't saying his name clearly where I thought it really was Thoncha as his name. Plus, when all the other characters were calling Fagin as Fagin, with Dodger's accent I thought he called Fagin as Fagey for a nickname.

  • At 0:16, what kind of food was that, that Dodger stole? I wonder whether it was small cake or some bread.

  • @afriendofbean A Philly Pretzel.

  • @hangemhigh2000 Thank you. I just wasn't sure since it looked like bread or a small piece of cake if you pause at 0:52.

  • @hangemhigh2000 This is not america!

  • @afriendofbean A bap or a cob has different names everywhere.

  • @kh9234 What do you mean by a bap and a cob? I actually don't remember using those words.

  • @afriendofbean What they are eating the bread roll has different names acorss eingland depending where you live i live in staffordshire and we call them cobs but my firend asked for some in a london bakery and they had no clue what she was on about.

  • @kh9234 That's true. Bread can have different names in different countries.

  • At 0:57, I used to think because of Dodger's accent that Dodger said "got any allergies" but now that I read the subtitles, I can now see that he is saying "got any lodgings."

  • damn you all he died in

    2006 I was ... 4

  • "What are you staring at?"

    "I think you're gorgeous!"

    Oh Oliver, I so agree!

  • Thank God for the subtitles i don't understand Limey!

  • goodness gracious. if those subtitles wern't there, id think they were talking piglatin or something

  • I don't understan ANYFING

  • omg this rlly helped i needed to watch this to develop an accent for the audition 4 this role on tuesday this really helped just waht i needed

  • awwwwwwwww soo hot!!!!!!

  • my eyes! how green can you get?

  • Everything about this was perfect.

The words by Charles Dickens, the music by Lionel Bart, the Direction from Sir Carol Reed and the Actors !

What a fabulous cast with the perfect "Fagin" in Ron Moody, who is STILL acting 40 years later! and, of course, Jack Wyld and Oliver Reed who BOTH drank themselves to death, sadly. The rest of the cast was top class and includes one of The UK's finest EVER Actors in The "Undertaker" Leonard Rossiter ( RIP ).

Oliver was charmingly innocent too !.

  • @Isleofskye The talentless kike Letzer was terrible.

  • 1:08 id love to see a kid get away with that today lol

  • Well, really, who wouldn't stare at Jack Wild?

  • I love how oliver says "my names oliver...oliver twist!" sounds almost sinister how he says it :-)

  • when I was younger I had such a crush on Jack Wild.....this was one of my favorite movies....It has put a impact in my life as a child...I even knew all the words to the songs.

  • Oliver looks like he's checking him out!

  • The hair stylists on this movie got Dodger's hair just right. Urchin/elfin adorable.

  • me and jack... alot alike! not with looks, of course, coz he's a boy, and i'm blond but we have the same eyes... you know, both brown. and he's like, 14 on that, and i'm 11 now. i mean personality wise, both cheeky, kind (i'm not big headed. im asking my cuz what im like and she's saying it), love for mischief, loyal... he will be missed. R.I.P Jack... he will be remembered, and stay in our hearts and minds for eternity.

  • @crazyJester1998 what did jack die of?

  • @BlindNoMor Some form of oral cancer which necessitated the removal of his tongue and vocal chords.

  • @BlindNoMor Cancer

  • its so funny how dodger just throws his bread at that guy

  • "My eyes! How green can you get?" haha CUUUTEE :)

  • @FriedGreenHobbaNobba Just watch the 1997 verision. Elijah Wood <3

  • ive got to do this in my school play cheers

  • he looks so gay at the begining

  • Don't homosexuals get ass?

  • No he was married. Twice...the first one failed cause of his drinking.

  • I think it had more to do with his homosexuality.

  • I think you have a problem yourself. Homofobic?

  • @FrankClanton How do you know he was homosexual, not that there's anything wrong with it...and it dons't really matter he was a skilled actor, but where'd you read, hear that?

  • It's no wonder he drank himself to death.

  • @FrankClanton What?

  • Unable to deal with his homosexuality, Wild killed himself. He already had three near-fatal heart attacks before he developed cancer.

  • Ohh that's a sad story =[

But HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT HE WAS GAY? Where did you read this, show me some proof gosh darn it!

  • Yes he would light another cigarette as soon as he got one down so that he would constantly have one alight throughout the day.

  • What a total nonsense.

  • Frank has a lot of fantasy. Jack Wild was an alcoholic but he was far from gay.

  • @FrankClanton

I just read all I could find. He had been married and there's nothing that said he was a homosexual. He was an alcoholic and a smoker. That gave him cancer and THAT killed him.

  • @FrankClanton Jack wild was not gay and he did not kill himself. That would have been against his religion.

  • Wild didn't become a Christian until after he stopped drinking.

  • @JuanMacready He still became a Christian before he died so he very likely wouldn't have killed himself. Also, I haven't seen him show any sign of him being a homosexual.

  • Of course he killed himself, he admitted that himself. His brother Arthur died the same way.

  • @JuanMacready How could he have admitted it if he wasn't alive? I guess the only way he would have admitted that is if he meant indirectly bringing it upon himself by smoking and drinking. And same with Arthur.

  • It's a shame Wild died before he could finish his autobiography because I would like to know how it all went so badly wrong. In 2005 he told a programme called "The Child Star Jinx" (with his second wife lip reading for him) that he was drunk all the time and would smoke one cigarette after another.

  • @JuanMacready I also would like to read his autobiography and I wish I could have seen that Child Star Jinx program

  • It used to be on this site. My father said that looking at Wild made him want to vomit because he looked like one of those men in the gutter. Corey Haim and Gary Coleman were also interviewed.

  • @PeaceNdLovee its homerfobic

  • jack wild was such a cute kid ~ and so natural & talented!!

  • Did u see the way dodger posed after he said, "Ain't you ever seen a toft?" he's SO cute! :)

  • @1wizgirl271 its 'toff'

  • @1wizgirl271 its toff thick yanks

  • lol

the Dodger rather reminds me of Gavroche from Les Mis...

  • Not in this movie. This is Jack Wild, baby.

  • Dodger is played by a very young Phil Collins. yes, the guy that sings In The Air Tonight :) you can check it in the Phil's biography.

  • not in this movie, he didnt! This was played by Jack Wild

  • No in the movie, on Broadway in london.

  • "What you starin at?" Love this little accent!

  • ITS TOFF ITS IN THE DICTIONARY PEOPLE UPPER CLASS ITS A JOKE HE AINT A TOFF! anyhow great film isnt it i find it brilliant

  • Hell, yes, it's brilliant. And of course, it's a joke, but that little raggedy Dodger has more style than any upper class geek any day!

  • i know some people just take films so seriously :)

  • Nah, it was crap and Kubrick was a talentless ugly freak.
