Wow the wooden floor makes it look a lot neater and the rug makes it look messy. I like the color of the wooden floor, what color is it and what type and brand? Is it the glue type or the clip type?
It was nice to see everybody chip in to help out! Loved how your oldest was feedind you the pieces so you didn't have to keep getting up! Job well done!
How did you cut the laminate to get it to be the right size? Also did you use the same moldings as you had before or did you buy them separately? (we have no molding, so thinking we have to buy them). Thanks! this is so inspiring!
It's engineered hardwood. It comes in random-length pieces and locks together on the side/ends, so you basically just lay down a row with whole pieces, and at the end of the row you cut the last piece to length. You use therest of the cut piece to start the next row, so the cut ends (without a locking groove) go against the walls.
We replaced our molding with new molding (the wider bottom gave us more room for error around the edges of the room).
indeed, we had a bit of noise immediately after installation, but it decreased greatly once the furniture was back in place, and was completely gone after a month or so of settling. We did the living room you see in the video, the main hallway, and both of the kids' bedrooms, and did not have any trouble with the flooring from installation till we sold the house a couple of months ago (the wood floors helped with the sale, BTW). Thanks for watching!
@shortbusheros4 yes you can put it over linoleum ...it is a bad a idea to put it over the carpet ...but the linoleum is pressed up and glued to the ground so all you would need is the padding cause that's what helps it level out on house slabs so you are good to put this type of flooring over the linoleum
@shortbusheros4 Im no expert on this, so I dont know if this is right or not, but I dont think it would work since the carpet would make the wood boards not level correctly, the sub-floor should be completely flat and solid, I dont think it would turn out too good to put hardwood over carpet
@leezaal -sorry for the delay, I hardly ever check my messages.
This particular floor is floating, meaning it is not glued down. It just sits on a thin foam padding and can be taken up easily. Keep in mind that the pieces had to be cut to length at the end of each row, so some more cutting will be in order if transporting to a different sized room. If the flooring was glued or nailed down you're on your own.
@queuerayzy thanks for the reply much appreciated. my friends have now moved and we got the flooring up with no problems, was just nervous as i never laid it for them but they wanted my help getting it up so didn't want to damage it. as i say it all came up easy in the end

@kimkrisrich - Hi! It was engineered hardwood, clip style (floating on a foam padding, no glue), in a honey color, by Bruce.
Hope that helps!
