@j919or The documents pertaining to the existence of Jesus by the Romans are at least 300 years after the event. What's more all the so called 1st hand evidence is full of contradictions. When you have no credible recent evidence and the rest amounts to nothing more than hearsay then the historicity is highly questionable.
As for the miracles: Most of the population of Iran claims to have seen the face of Ayatollah Khomeini in the moon when he died. Does that mean Islam is true?
@j919or No records of Pilate executing anyone called Jesus, Pliny writes of his followers but has no first hand information, Irenaeus as an early founder of the church who felt able to authenticate which gospels were true and which were false lived in the 2nd century more than 1000 miles away from Palestine. Biblical historians date the 4 gospels as being written between 70 & 90 AD. That puts the age of the 4 men at around 80 at a time & place where you were lucky to live past 30.
@davidiainmcmahon Pliny was a historian and researched as did other historians. Pliny was much closer to the events than any of us and he was a hostile witness/historian. The testimony of a hostile witness carries much weight.
There are some scholars that state many wild and extreme viewpoints. There are many scholars that date Mark in the 50s and Matthew in the 60s.Either way you know nothing about textual criticism bc lengend and myth doesnt appear unless the writings are over 100s postdated
@j919or Pliny does not mention Christ or give any history. He mentions him when recounting what other people said about him. Tantamount to hearsay. The idea that something has to be removed by a century in order to be potentially made up is nonsense. The claim that the gospels were written during the time period has nothing behind it whatsoever.
@davidiainmcmahon are you serious? You really don't know about the magical flying narwhal and it's rider, harry potter? He told me that the gospels were written when jesus was around, so its true.
Yes that is the fact jack. Perhaps some private events might pass but private events arent the history of the gospels. There were many public events that bear on the credibility of the private ones.
@j919or Yes, like the events so private that no-one else was there to make sure it wasn't made up. A certain conversation with the devil in the desert comes to mind since it's not written in 1st person and no witnesses. Private support doesn't mean anything if it comes from the same source/document.
2. Jesus did His miracles in public and His enemies could not refute them. They involved raising people from the dead and curing those born blind 3.In the 300s AD documents were gathered that were in circulation for centuries.
4. Learn logic. And not from Dusty, for he has no logic, only empty boasts
@j919or How is the analogy false? No-one has ever come back to life after being dead for 4 days. That is exactly as probable as the surface of the moon changing shape. You can't get more public than that. An audience of yokels may not know how you do the magic trick. Doesn't make it real. You go on about logic but support the idea that if you telepathically flatter a bronze age Jewish zombie then you will get everything you want after you die.
@j919or I want to live in a place where people don't make up silly things then kill each other over them. If you call that evil then there's nothing to say that could reach you. Not to mention changing the thing you want doesn't mean that you still aren't being promised something you think will make you happy. Eternity would be a long time to spend with someone who punishes people for behaving rationally. As has been pointed out before, sounds just like life in North Korea.
@j919or So by your own account things like the so called miracle of the sun are nonsense since the sun is also far away? Ok then let's move closer. People swear that they saw David Blaine fly or John Edward speak to their dead family members from a few feet away. How is it any different? A magician + an audience who don't know how magic tricks are done doesn't make it any less fake.
@j919or Reference to the raising of Lazarus. My point was that if a dead man had been raised, people would have thought to ask him what happened to him. No account of that either, no-one even tries. You would think that would be one of the best things to put in the book but it doesn't happen. The sheer fakery of it is staggering.
@j919or Actually, "santa claus" is a real person, unfortunately for you, not knowing that proves ho uneducated you are, again, what a surprise. You want me to learn logic? You aren't even capable of comprehending logic, never mind using it. Infact, you're so pathetically weak minded that you actually believe that every piece of evidence given against you, is false, you can't even admit that there is any evidence against you, just so you can keep pretending to yourself.
Nah. Nice try but the common fantasy of santa flying thru the air on a sleigh is BASED ON a real person. You accuse my of lack of logic when all the while u rant on with pure ad hominem. BTW that is a logical fallacy.
@j919or But, I challenge you to come up with a single piece of PROOF, real, observable proof, that can be verified, go ahead try it. Maybe then the rest of the world would actually listen to your pathetic tales. Even though it's obvious you have no proof and never will, infact with how fucking stupid you are, you will either take proof against you and use that as proof for you, or you will just come up with some magical story and try to say that is proof. I and everyone else wants you to die.
First admit that u cant answer my previous arguments. Otherwise I will insist that you respond ot them. ALso, you made various paperthin arguments and assumptions which I refuted and still no response. Either answer them or admit u cant. No more emotional rants/babble.
@j919or I won't answer any of your arguments, you wanna' know why? Because you lack the education required to have a valid argument, and you use flawed logic to come to a conclusion while ignoring all evidence against you, or just saying it's false. And no, using your logic, Santa Claus is a real person, he has more proof of his existence than any religious claim. The sad thing is, you're so uneducated, you probably can't even explain to me what the epigeonome is.
Christians should not be asking Dawkins any questions but rather exposing his lies and irrational and illogical ideas. Dawkins admits that he doesnt have the answer to the origin of life. Dawkins knows that the only origin of life that is logical is higher life. And that life must be eternal for only life can beget life.
Dawkins uses false analogies to embarrass christians that are not aware of this logical fallacy.

Finally, I am sorry if I've offended anyone. I hope that whoever is right about the existence of God or gods finds out soon enough for me to join the "right" side ... and end up in Heaven ... if it exists
Anyway, I don't know why Richard Dawkins has to pick a fight with the whole religious world. I bet he couldn't even pass an AP Calculus test or convince most people that buying a lotto ticket is mathematically insane (and then crush their hearts by saying, "ya know ... if you wanted to give money to schools [which is where the lotto money in certain states are supposed to go to], you could have just as easily left a US note on the porch of the school district's headquarters ...). Sigh ...
Furthermore, I have lived abroad. LIfe is great there in certain ways. People are courteous and anti stupid. I've also lived in some liberal states and they have graffiti all over the interstate walls. Now, THAT is a thinking person ... who does he/she think is going to pay to repaint the interstate wall? The whole city/state/country through taxes. We could be spending less on repainting and more on education if people just behaved themselves. (continued)
You know and *I* know that coming up with new rules is 1) an ongoing problem as we creative humans will find ways around it(**turkey story below) and 2) just a "slap on the wrist" for those who are EXTREMELY damaging in previously said creativity. Butterball: Some idiotic bunch of kids decided to walk onto a interstate highway overpass which itself was an interstate and drop a Butterball turkey which I believe killed someone. Laws against turkeys? New law prohibit walking on highways.
And elements of life that are "sinful" such as greed and homocide don't generally affect the world negatively anyway. Except when the US has to bail us out of a housing crisis, because, you know, if you're not greedy you will NEVER get anywhere in life ... sorry I'm arguing a bit tangentially. My point is that governmental law, science, and many other human made entities cannot replace a good set of morals, but hey such is life no? Get ready for the next bailout ...
@misterbrianchen They don't have to effect the world negatively. They only have to effect us negatively for us to build rules around them. Killing other members of the tribe weakens the pack. We all suffer by individuals being lost. Over time we gain a sense of empathy with other sentient life (like dogs). Non believers simply see it as being more likely that these rules came from a god we made in our own image and not the other way around. All gods are very human and laden with artifice.
I know many people who have all at least one experience where they felt a higher power was in control. Surviving cancer, grieving, substance abuse (Alcoholics Anonymous even use the phrase "a higher power"), winning an American Football championship, living life without stealing and digging oneself out of the slums. Being happy, healthy, religious, and lawful are just things that ya know ... happen in our universe. (continued)
I hope the US and any of its counties and cities never again decides to copy laws from anywhere. LOL. Really ... arguing non-creativity. I suppose we should make it a law that all laws must be sung to a tune and written in a range so that only the best sopranos can sing it.
@misterbrianchen When you claim to have divine revelation it weakens your argument when there is no revelation at all, just regurgitated ideas from other people. I expect that from people and man made institutions. Funny that god would show up and give us laws only to be embarrassed that we had figured them out for ourselves. All you are left with it revelation that humans made without a god and some archaic, barbaric or inconsequential rules to stroke god's ego. That's a crappy intervention.
And commandments ... if you don't like them, try living in some of the crime capitals of the world ... where your car gets broken into ... where people are often shot ... (must I name some more attributes?) Anyway, I'm out. Thanks for listening.
@misterbrianchen Commandments 1, 2 & 3 are just threats and shows that god cares more about being feared than much else, 4 is just him saying "Saturdays are cool", 5 is a tactic to instruct you how to get a juicy inheritance, 7 hinges on jealousy and does not damage the society but the relationship, 10 reduces women to the level of livestock and endorses thought crime. You can't get more barbaric than thought crime. 6, 8 & 9 are all lifted from prior laws. No credit to Yhaweh there.
I don't quite see how a god of monotheism is impossible, but I'd like to see your proof. And while you're at it ... the standard with which physicists who do NOT work with nuclear colliders end up saying a particular set of data from said colliders proves or disproves the existence of subatomic particles. I sure hope the first one is easier. I see that you hold The Bible up to a VERY high standard. I just wondered if you also held up many parts of science to the same standard. (continued)
@misterbrianchen I would expect the word of a perfect creature to be flawless. If it isn't then it can't be perfect. The god of monotheism is always omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient, omnipresent and sentient. Possessing these 5 attributes would mean that there is no way bad things could happen and that this god would also have no free will. The world shows that bad things happen a lot so god either can't or won't stop it. Impotent or evil are the only options and both defy those traits.
I believe we ALL believe there is NO WAY to "intellectually" talk of religion ... because the two are so far apart :). So YES, Dan. I try my best not to talk to my professors in grad school about religion ... it's such a sexual superiority being intellectual ... ain't it?
but the story of a man asked to prove his faith with one possible death is … I guess more fun to talk about? … because if THAT is too messed up, maybe we all need to go to war again.
A modern moralist … Considering the lack of human societal structures and codes from that era (500ish BC), I don't think this is too strong a point. But hey, some people are just lucky … they get God to talk to them twice and no one gets hurt. Government and other more 'modern' societal structures have NEVER led to killing. *cough* *HITLER* *cough. Maybe if Hitler lived in 500 BC he'd have been nicer. 2 world wars, Alexander the Great, Caesar, sigh … [continued]
"I'm Offended/He's Offended" <-- a simple it's okay for Christians to be offended but not for atheists .. and when atheists ARE offended, you get Dawkins.
"We should be HAPPY that liberals in Florida have SUCH LITTLE CONFIDENCE in science and innovation that they will take sides in a family matter and let a woman pass away when her family was happy to take care of her."
"I wonder if there's a website for evolutionary biology jokes. But yeah … Dawkins would probably NOT be offended." (cont)
So I am pleasantly warmed that the Christians are such a problem for atheists, because (and yes, I'm picking examples from a small sample of people ... which statisticians and those who science-snipe Bibles should NEVER do) I have to be honest. Some of the most irresponsible, unfair, and condescending statements have been from the mouthes of Atheists ... And Dawkins is NO exception.
THINK PEOPLE! Should we ban ALL religion from all subjects in high school? I find that hilarious ... especially when Shakespeare and MANY MANY books have MANY mentions of God in it. Furthermore, all Greek Mythology should be banned as well as the Gaia theory and most of the planets in the solar system (cause Mercury is that silver stuff ... never a Greek/Roman god). And yes, we should all throw away our Nike shoes. Mozart, Bach, Handel ... worthless masses. (continued)
I quite dislike atheists who very pompously prance about declaring that God does NOT exist. First, it's just rude. Secondly, he continually decides God does NOT exist because a small portion of the Bible is "incorrect," but refuses to acknowledge the wisdom it brings (Psalms and 10 Commandments) and the effect of the the Bible on a large portion of US law. ALSO, I HATE it when atheists target one religion or the other but not all religions. (continued on next post)
@misterbrianchen The god of monotheism is logically impossible so he is on sure footing in there. 2nd there are massive parts of the bible that are totally wrong and when you claim that you have revealed knowledge from the perfect creator then glaring factual errors are an issue. 3rd The 10 commandments are 70% junk. I find it "rude" when the pope tells people in africa that condoms make it more likely to get AIDS and leads to a continued pandemic. You have no right to moan for being made fun of
RENOUNCE YOUR SINS, AND GET ON YOUR KNEES AND BEG FOR FORGIVENESS FROM YOUR SINS, ELSE PERISH FOR ETERNITY.
OH YOUTUBEFACE'S
WHY STICK WITH IRRATIONAL ATHEISM THAT SAYS THAT THE UNIVERSE MAGIC'ED ITSELF INTO EXISTENCE, AND THAT ONE DAY HUMANS JUST APPEARED AND DECIDED "I KNOW, NOW THAT WE HAVE SUDDENLY APPEARED, LETS SPEAK, MAKE THE WHEEL, AND PROCREATE"
Dead-to-the-spirit deluded "God Delusion" author & blithering fool scientist goon Richard Dawkins another "leader" given 2 the profane masses is another useful idiot 4 Jesuit machinations
Jesuitical; pertaining to the Jesuits or their principals; designing; cunning; deceitful; prevaricating

God is spirit but has revealed himself in flesh. The Creator must be invisible and transcedent of time and space.

@zombieofgod ""Otherwise there would be no religious people.” ""
Reason is assumed to be valid bc humans are assumed to be honest and good and nonbiased. Also humans are assumed to have enough knowledge and ability to know in order to form reasonable conclusions about origins and the supernatural, I could easily demolish those assumptions. It is highly unreasonable to conclude thatthere is no creator/designor. Unbelievers are unreasonable for they would rather go to hell than forfeit their ego
There is no evidence that Isaac had trauma or therapists. The ancients werent a buncha wusses like today. Further, Isaac was likely more secure knowing that his dad obeyed God to the extreme and that God loved Isaac in:
1. Granting his miracluous birth
2. Stopping his father and providing the sacrifice. God gave Abraham and readers a sense of the suffering that God would later endure as Jesus was the sacrifice that wasnt spared.
What if youre wrong? He is wrong and there is plenty of evidence. Complexity to which Dawkins even admits is "overwhelming" is evidence for God or a being more complex and powerful that anything that we know. But people are all blinded by sin and cant see God until their sin and blindness is cured by Jesus. Meantime no evidence will suffice the wilfull unbeliever.
@j919or "Complexity to which Dawkins even admits is "overwhelming" is evidence for God or a being more complex and powerful that anything that we know. "
What makes you think that complexity can't arise through natural processes? And even if we don't know how do you fill the gap with god?
PS: If you've got nothing except argument from incredulity, don't bother.
@zombieofgod ""complexity can't arise through natural processes?""
Natural processes attack complexity its called decay. Unless energy is harnessed by information , it is harmful to complexity. ANd since natural processes are always harmful to information, where would information arise?
@zombieofgod wow, this faggot is even on this video (not you, this j919or retard) Trust me, there is no point talking to him, you should just block him and ignore anything he says. I have proved him wrong in everything he has said, and you know what he uses as proof that he is right? The scientific evidence given against him. He is literally scum, too stupid to be considered human.
@j919or Ad hominem? Is that all you can say to people that mock you? You think the majority of the internet mocking you is "ad hominem" ? learn what the word means, you moronic twat.
@j919or Is god Complex? If you say no. Then I'd like to challenge you,
1. He can read everyones thoughts
2. He's Omniscient
3. He's omnipotent
4. He can create everything out of nothing
He sounds pretty complex right? So how is it that God has come about, without needing a maker? A Creator of the Designer. I don't understand how you can say that the earth Couldn't have existed without a creator, when you're own God that is obviously the most complex thing I've ever heard of doesn't need one.
@TheJakeRockz Either the universe has its own intelligence or it was made by intelligence. Either the universe was created or had a beginning. We know that it had a beginning so it/matter/the universe mustve had a creator. God has no beginning for God is non material.
@j919or Such Closed Mindedness. Just cause it isn't A doesn't mean it's B. There's so many other possibilities. Nothing should be filled with Fairies by default -_-
Only an intelligent non material being with unlimited power and wisdom could form and maintain the universe. Any defects are explained by the fall and so in the biiger picture any defects arent defects at all but enhancers of what is to come...for those that believe. For the rest of yall unbelievers Im horrified at what awaits u.
@wearestarstuffsagan Snow flakes are not that complex. They are patterns. They are not equipped to do work. The are not life. But they are products of the complexity of the qualities of matter. All of this is more evidence of design.
I say let Dawkins go on with his lies. All those that dont want God will follow him. I could destroy all of his arguments and I have been doing so, and im just an average idiot. So dont read my essays if you wanna remain in delusion.
I'm 38 and i still believe in santa!! A fat man who comes once a year with a sack full to the brim with gifts!! there's a family guy scene in that somewhere i think!
The thing is that Santa-clause believers aren't sinister and contra-productive to the progress of science. They don't interfere like bigoted retards. And Santa isn't persistently being taught with mind control rhetorics, like the major theistic belief systems. Why Richard Dawkins is to a degree an anti theist is a stupid question and either very ignorant or out of tune with the world. (01:18) Though it's quite humorous. It's lack of insight.
@SaerdnaOoOoo I mean even if he is an antitheist, so fucking what? They're free to say that all atheists will burn in hell for not believing the sky daddy and when someone criticize them, they're labelled as 'strident'.
I found it to be quite funny, that's precisely why I included that. :)

Get ready for the next bailout ...
misterbrianchen 1 month ago

I suppose we should make it a law that all laws must be sung to a tune and written in a range so that only the best sopranos can sing it.
misterbrianchen 1 month ago
@misterbrianchen When you claim to have divine revelation it weakens your argument when there is no revelation at all, just regurgitated ideas from other people. I expect that from people and man made institutions. Funny that god would show up and give us laws only to be embarrassed that we had figured them out for ourselves. All you are left with it revelation that humans made without a god and some archaic, barbaric or inconsequential rules to stroke god's ego. That's a crappy intervention.

(continued)
misterbrianchen 1 month ago
@misterbrianchen I would expect the word of a perfect creature to be flawless. If it isn't then it can't be perfect. The god of monotheism is always omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient, omnipresent and sentient. Possessing these 5 attributes would mean that there is no way bad things could happen and that this god would also have no free will. The world shows that bad things happen a lot so god either can't or won't stop it. Impotent or evil are the only options and both defy those traits.

But yeah … Dawkins would probably NOT be offended." (cont)
misterbrianchen 2 months ago
So I am pleasantly warmed that the Christians are such a problem for atheists, because (and yes, I'm picking examples from a small sample of people ... which statisticians and those who science-snipe Bibles should NEVER do) I have to be honest. Some of the most irresponsible, unfair, and condescending statements have been from the mouthes of Atheists ... And Dawkins is NO exception.
misterbrianchen 2 months ago
THINK PEOPLE! Should we ban ALL religion from all subjects in high school? I find that hilarious ... especially when Shakespeare and MANY MANY books have MANY mentions of God in it. Furthermore, all Greek Mythology should be banned as well as the Gaia theory and most of the planets in the solar system (cause Mercury is that silver stuff ... never a Greek/Roman god). And yes, we should all throw away our Nike shoes. Mozart, Bach, Handel ... worthless masses. (continued)
misterbrianchen 2 months ago
I quite dislike atheists who very pompously prance about declaring that God does NOT exist. First, it's just rude. Secondly, he continually decides God does NOT exist because a small portion of the Bible is "incorrect," but refuses to acknowledge the wisdom it brings (Psalms and 10 Commandments) and the effect of the the Bible on a large portion of US law. ALSO, I HATE it when atheists target one religion or the other but not all religions. (continued on next post)
misterbrianchen 2 months ago
@misterbrianchen The god of monotheism is logically impossible so he is on sure footing in there. 2nd there are massive parts of the bible that are totally wrong and when you claim that you have revealed knowledge from the perfect creator then glaring factual errors are an issue. 3rd The 10 commandments are 70% junk. I find it "rude" when the pope tells people in africa that condoms make it more likely to get AIDS and leads to a continued pandemic. You have no right to moan for being made fun of
