Some people just will never get it. They have to be ready to see that they need a change in their life and not until that happens will they seek out change.....The Cycle of Self Development. I am thankful I have infused D.C. into my life. He was an amazing man and obviously he had something going on because his trainings and princicples are still VERY much alive. His trainings and books have changed my life. And I already was pretty successful and had a great life! Now, I am even more successful
Dale Carnegie was a twat. I was recently forced to read his nonsensical book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" in my English class. About 25 pages into the book I realized that the it is almost entirely comprised of examples of other people applying Carnegie's principles to daily life in order to get their way. Carnegie could have easily compressed everything in that book to a mere 30 pages, but instead he decided he needed some extra money and filled a 300 page book with complete drivel
You clearly don't see the importance of the other pages. If you read other work by Carnegie specifically 'Quick & Easy .. Effective Speaking, Carnegie states that 'the Rules' would fill one and a half pages. The other 270 pages are filled with illustrations and stories of how people use the rules to wholesome effect! nobody wants a list of Rules - yet anyone can relate to a personalised experience. Rules of an Entertaining Speach = Humanize, Personalize, Specify, Dramatize and Vizualize. Get it?
Why would anyone want to read a book that states a rule/principle, and then provides seven or eight examples of people who were able to use the principle to their advantage, in EVERY SINGLE chapter?? Do you not see?? About 80% of the book is filler. And he wrote not one, but TEN books in this fashion!! And for what?? I'll tell you what. For money. Your beloved Dale Carnegie managed to coerce thousands of people into buying this books of complete nonsense. And he is a VERY rich man because of it.
Perhaps you should do a little research. Carnegie was already among the wealthiest people in the world when he began sharing this "nonsense". He didn't need the money. He was already GIVING away his wealth not only financially but by sharing the principles that had made him successful. Like the 10 commandments, which principle do you disagree with? Are you successful? Could you be more successful? Follow the principles! (Assuming you're not Al-Qaeda)
its great that it changed your life I'm, so glad to hear that. With me i read the book and got a new perspective on life my lifer. when i applied the Principals every thing worked out my way and i made every one hapy aswell as myselfl. but this only lasted for about year and i have went back to my depressing life because i find it so hard to apply the principles.. do you have any advice? have you been experiencing a similar problem? how long has it been since you read the book?
Reading the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie is a great way to try out the teaching in the seminar for yourself. If you don't have enuf time or money, just get other books that people bought along with Dale's book. I can tell you that book is worth its weight in gold and every good high ranking person in a corp has that book on his or her shelf. Gotta apply it though. Sometimes that is the hard part.
