  • My cellphone (Smartphone) is way better than this old shit hahaha :P

  • @MusicBuch True, true, but without these first steps, you wouldn't have your shiny, new smartphone.

  • Everytime I hear the word "Univac", it reminds me of the robot "Uni-Blab" on the Jetsons!

  • And now we have petaflop supercomputers a billion times faster than this, and we still can't predict the weather...

  • @kargaroc386 That's just what I was thinking :-D

  • geesh what a button monster

  • 2000 math calc's a second? DAMN!

  • hahaha univac is saving time?? you see all these button!! haha and well today cumpputer is not better than before haha!!

  • I wonder if it can play Crysis

  • lol at 2:49 looks like the guy is using a laptop, but probably a brief case

  • @stephk42 laptops in that time were as big as an fridge

  • @eggaweb An IBM PC XT ran faster than a early System/370 but you could hang more peripherals off of the mainframe.

  • Awesome video! when you look back it kind of reminds you how far we've come in computer technology. From gigantic machines to laptops and smartphones.

  • I gotta say, that's a hella fast printer. Seemingly much faster than my brand new 18PPM laser, even. Impressive.

  • My shitty Samsung Gravity 3 is more powerful than that.

  • Vista is worse

  • Its clock speed is 2K! Compared to umpteen gigs today.

  • useless.. How are we supposed to look up porn on that thing?

  • The "App Store" for Univac is awesome! They have cool apps like: Bingo, Tic-Tac-Toe, and "Calculate My Paycheck". There's an app for that!

  • 600 lines a minute!!! WOW!

  • @KristaDawn1985 Blazing, I know. Lol :) -Michael

  • @KristaDawn1985 Dot Matrix ftw!

  • I used to program a Univac V77 in the mid-80's ... this is hilarious to watch! Thanks!

  • @rodanmedia That's amazing! Is the commercial technically accurate?

  • in the year 2000 we will have flying automobiles food will be in the form of a pill and we will live in space -__-

  • I like the print out 'unit one OK, Unit 2 OK' thats better than my PC all I get is 'Internet explorer NOT RESPONDING, Microsoft Word NOT RESPONDING.

  • But can it run Crysis? Sorry, couldn't resist! I've been favoriting retro computer videos, but this is about as retro as they get! Always fascinating to see what computing in its infancy was like! Thank you for sharing this!

  • @kevin12567 Your welcome. I'm glad you liked it!

  • @kevin12567 Yes it prints the screen in front of you as you play crysis:)

  • This thing runs faster than internet explorer.

    OH DAMN

  • this thing is cool!

  • OMG! 12k units a second, 2k calculations a second, and a really high end printer

  • WTF? I didn't know Cloud Computers date back to 1950s!!

  • @BoogsterSU2 I thought it said "cloud" too, but I played it again and I think he says "file computers".

  • @1:32 Host "Here is where we get the answers."

From a typical1950s housewife standing next

    to a washing machine? LOL

(just kidding..It sure looks like it, though)

  • @dboy122660 LOL!

  • 2000 process x minute, o_o damn Univac really kick asses i prefere a Univac than a Computer with windows vista ¬_¬¡

  • @bicho3200 A lot of people seem to share that opinion. I have been using a Vista machine for about twenty months now and like it very much. So much that I'm not even tempted to upgrade to Windows 7. I guess it comes down to your personal experience with Vista.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • @hwy61media VISTA SUCKS

  • @l30666 I'm always impressed with comments like these. Two whole words and neither of those two words say why you don't like Vista. Eloquent!

  • @l30666 yeah univac owns vista!!!

  • @l30666 user error

  • I wonder what year this commercial was made. I enjoyed watching this. It's amazing how much computers have advanced.

  • As far as I know, this was broadcast on February 5, 1956.

  • A typical smart phone has more computing power than the combined power of all the Univacs ever built! It's amazing how far computers have advanced!

  • @eggaweb you dont need a smart phone, the commodore 64 is enough

  • 60 year later they still can't get the forecast right!

  • You are so right! LOL

  • @bumperstickerguy Why don't you teach us all how to better predict it? what? your too stupid? thought so, Shut up you simpleton

  • This is weather!

  • Univac style, yes :)

  • Isn't this the same computer that picked Nixon over Kennedy in 1960?

  • I don't know. Could be. Interesting question.

  • Good one!

  • Thank you :)
