#1 it puts too much power into the hands of the govt. (in this case, a theocracy)

#2 there is no benefit in terms of reduced crime rate *multiple studies*

#3 why not simply put the murderers on ice, removed from society, in hopes of a cure or a finding of their innocence?

#4 There is no cost benefit, if you actually provide the legal safeguards to prevent innocent ppl from being killed. Legal fees eat up any savings.
