Dude, you're teaching people all the wrong shit! You don't play the verse like that. Pluck a note, slap a note, pluck, slap. Then one held note when you hit the 3rd fret. 10th to 12th hammer-on with a slight slide down.

as a pick player and lover of metallica i have to tell you that you are playing this somewhat in poor form for picking....example is the second part...whenever you are picking and you have to play an open string higher than your current string eg moving from e to a than back to e again...must be aware of the a string still ringing...you can mute it left hand or trying using the a note on e string instead of open a...it will make for more distinctive notes

I hate critizising playing techniques... but please learn to use your little finger. I think it's very common with people who have not had a teacher to not use the little finger and you actually miss out on 25% of your left (or right) hand's capacity by not using it. I don't say your technique is wrong, but as a fellow bassist it's the best advice I can give.
