  • @tjackson76 that's just wrong. I like Bester but Roy is another beast all together. Grew up watching Potvin but always loved Bester from what I remembered. Still remember seeing a photo of him in his tiny kitchen with his equipment and wife in the frame when he was traded to Detroit.

  • this guys seen more rubber than a dead skunk on athe trans canada highway!

  • but he lets in 3-4 goals per game this is just all his good stuff i guess

  • @okpapereat Bester and Clark put those horrible Leafs 80's era teams into the playoffs.. Tip your hat to this man.

  • @JBatts41 Its not those 2 man dude, you cant get into the playoff with just one or two people who are great. Hockey is a team sport, it doest matter if you have a gretzky and a team thats sucks as hell you wont make the playoffs, what gretzky did he made the team good as good players make players around them better players which means you would have a team. Wandel Clark made his team good but not good enough to win in the playoffs thats the problem.

  • am from montreal and that time toronto dont have any defance Allan Bester got 30 to 50 shot every game that guy smell the burning puck :)

  • Allan Bester had a great glove hand. Ya gotta give him that much.

  • Allan Bester always was & always will be my favourite goalie! I love this video!

  • Allan Bester was a very dynamic and entertaining goalie to watch. He was 5'6 at best.

  • harald ballard wouldn't even sprig for matching pads - Bester still didnt care played his best

  • jeez, he must not have been more than 5' 5"... played the stand up style (didn't they all?) but got so low to the ice he was looking between guys legs for shots from the point. good vid.

  • He was good goalie but not that great, nothing against Allan. :P

  • Most underrated goaltender in the Leafs History...what people do not realize is he had a shitty team in front of him and had a minimum 30 shots on net per game. Good little goalie.

  • Also...Great glove saves...., he should've had the nickname "

    THE CAT"??, not...

  • Now....alan was a great goalie..., to bad, he didn't have any defence to help him out back then..?.

  • If I'm not mistaken, this video features every save Bester ever made.

  • hahahah a kenny wregget tribute video...

still im not saying Bester was the shit all im saying is I grew up watching this cat and to this day I still dont know a goalie with his glove hand man he could catch a 110 mile an hr Zedeno Chara slap shot of a bumble bee!!! lololol go leafs go forever!!!

  • Some of you are fucking morons. Put Bester on a team that wasn't total fucking garbage and he might have had a long successful career, the dude had skills.

  • @tjackson76 I got into hockey in 88-89 and remember pretending to be Bester in schoolyard foot hockey.. when everyone else was being Roy (when I was living in Ottawa before the Senators were back)

  • Growing up as a goalie in Toronto he was my first Idol, then later on Felix Potvin!! Too bad they both played for horrible teams for the most part and were underrated! They both probably had the greatest glove hand eveeeeer!!

  • hmm shouldnt the sergio momesso shot be in there?

  • Faced an average of over 36 shots per game during the most offensive era in the NHL. (Gretzky, Lemieux & Yzerman)

Small goalie who played very large for a terrible team.

  • i agree but more offensive now

  • Ken Wregget was not a bad goaltender, but I felt myself that Allan Bester was better!

  • Only bright spot in the 80's BESTER YOUR THE BEST. I would hate those night Wregget got the start!

  • ya.. As I kid, I imitated his style, playing foot hockey at elementary school during recess here in Toronto. My fav Leaf goalie of all time, Allan Bester.

  • Thanks for sharing this tribute! Allan was a hell of a goalie, and it just goes to show kids that it doesn't matter how small you are its how big the dream is inside. I've always been a fan of his.

  • I watched Bester play in his last years in the old IHL with the Orlando Solar Bears. Pretty good goalkeeper even back then in his late years; he made it to the finals with the team in their first year. I met him once at the old team store when he made an unannounced visit and he was more than happy to talk hockey and autograph anything I purchased.

  • don't forget about pokey reddeck tribute

  • FUCK YEAH I used to get shit about liking this goalie LOL i was quite surpised to see one belive me I sent it to all the folks that used to dick me around... Thanks man it was kewl the song could have been something more bester but hey its all guud..

  • Maybe I'll have to make a Jiri Crha tribute video.

  • You're simply the best (Leaf goaltender in the one of the most horrible eras in team history, with the possible exception of Mike Palmateer)! Better than all the rest!...

-isn't that how the line goes?

  • Of all the millions of videos on YouTube, I still would never have believed I'd ever see one called "Allan Bester - Tribute Video"

  • @myunclesnephew ..lol....I'm a diehard Leaf fan but even I have to come to the conclusion that TJackson76 has to be related to Bester.

  • @Lennon4life1968 I bet tjackson76 is related to Jeff Jackson instead... LoL

  • sweeeeet....Bester!!

  • Upload more Allan Bester videos.

  • hmm.... I think thats all the Bester footage I have

  • yes i had a leafs home jersey of allen bester he was awsome it was sad the leafs sucked so bad for him i lovehockey cause of all his saves the man

  • he was the reason I started watching hockey , yes he would let 3,4,5 goals in sometimes but with 70 - 80 - shots on net not many would fair that good

  • You Bester believe it!

  • i think bester was a small guy with a big heart

  • Loved watching him play---Definitely one of my favorite Leafs ever!!!

  • what an appropriate name

  • allen bester is my great uncle :D

  • sorry meant to say I played against him a year or so BEFORE he was drafted by the Alexanders

  • you can't be serious!? Look I'm a Leaf fan and have been for 30 years. Bester is no where near "great" or the "best". Seriously, Palmateer, Sawchuk, Bower, Joseph, Potvin, Belfour, even Ken Wregget are all better than Bester......Geez I played against him in some local tournaments when he was on the Alexanders. Even then we were told to shoot 5-hole. Of course he's better than me. I never played net or even came close to making the NHL. Still doesn't make him an above average goalie.

  • hmmmm Bester great? I think not. Average yes......very average.

  • 60 70 shots a game he was good not average

  • Tim Bernhardt, Jiri Chra, Paul Harrison, and Rick St.Croix all faced the same amount of shots......does that make them better than average?

  • your vids r 5/5 everytime because they never get old

  • Bester was my favourite goalie ever. My ma got me a TO Leafs jacket with Bester's name and num on it for my 5th birthday, i'll never forget it. All the guys on my tyke team loved it.

  • Most underated leaf goaltender.

  • Great goalie. Too bad he played for some shit leaf teams in the late 80s.

  • i love this guy

  • Great Video.. I made an Allan Bester tribute video, 10 years ago.. Ill dig it up and try to put it up. I may need to edit it again.. But wow this brings back memories,, I totaly Idolized him. Whats he up to latley..

  • this guy saw more rubber than a dead skunk on the trans canada hiway

  • Bester...My Favourite Goalie of all time

  • "Bester Bests Gilmour !"

Awesome ! Simply Awesome ! Check out my pics of Allan Bester.. I also chatted with him recently via email. He recently got married and lives/works in Florida. Shame, he should be around the organization nowadays...
