I think i can help this arguement, Im a BMW CCA member, But....i LOVE american Muscle cars. Each has their own advantages, Muscle would kick ass against anything else, in a straight line. Imports would almost always win going round a track. But reality is, who the hell has a track in the first place!? So being a CCA member, i would pick a BMW for my daily driver, BUT i would pick American muscle everytime for power and pure pound for pound kickass-ness
@sak0013 the taillights are different between the 68 and 69, this one is a 69. you can also tell by the front bumper indicators and the there are no glass flaps on the side windows.
my 67 chevelle can destroy my dads 2005 bmw 330 on acdelleration and in handeling. his car weighs 3380lbs chevelle weighs 3220lbs with a SMALL BLOCK most peaple think old cars are heavy but they are dead wrong. put a 355 with 3200-7200rpm power house in and nothing can toach it. bye bye beemer. gtos chevelles 442s are great platform cars but you have to modify. beemers come stock equally weighted front to back just no hp.

last i checked american push rod single cam engines are inefficient and obsolete. there are plenty of cars WAY cheaper than a restored GTO that would out perform it on every level. because yes there are other things besides driving in a straight line, american muscle fans look it up Im not lying. so with the same budget modern import will go way above and beyond something designed and built in the 60s-70s. STi, or a WRX..., Mazdaspeed3, RSX Civic SI or any other similar K20 car with a turbo kit.

If you bought a WRX and turbo'd it and I put spent the same amount of money on an older muscle car and put that money into the engine, it would beat the living hell out of that little subaru. Oh boy, My GTO sat for nearly fifteen years before I took the time to restore it, and guess what, it started up on some fresh gas and a battery, even with typical new england points corrosion. Unreliable? No, I've never had a problem with the car, even at my age of eighteen, fellow muscle car guys have a level of maturity I' haven't seen from any other group. Every BMW owner I've met has been an egotistical prick with something to make up for, you're an embarrassment to the hobby, grow up.

I could find and monster build a muscle car for HALF the price of a stock BMW (as well as a modded one) that would destroy that car hands down, every time. @RuggerFlail While I do agree, and I love both muscle and imports, couldn't the opposite be said if you lived in germany and bought a 90's BMW M3 to modify? Disregarding the fact that BMWs were built with the main purpose of being comfortable, quite luxury cars, and muscle was really made to do one thing well: accelerate very fast. GM cars are built here in the US, therefore the parts are ofcourse cheaper to get than for a european car, which will have to be imported.

@RuggerFlail - Don't get me wrong i like muscle, we've even got a camaro. But you could easily pick up an Impreza or skyline and do a build that would match a muscle car for the same price. For me, i think its like tomato or tamata, it doesn't matter what it is they both end up at the same point. Both do the quarter in 13, same lap time etc. Its down to personal preference, do you like high rpm 4cly or an all engine low rpm v8, AWD or FR etc...

So we lined 'em up and I took him, plain and simple. I agree with you though, stock to stock the m3 would've made an example out my nova. My only quarrel is with the people that drive these BMW's and their cocky attitude. I respect all cars import or domestic it's the drivers that need adjusting.

@mindbender91 The easiest way to pick a winner between the old "Import vs Muscle" argument is - Use the same budget. I could find and monster build a muscle car for HALF the price of a stock BMW (as well as a modded one) that would destroy that car hands down, every time. It's all relative to what is put into your ride. That's why American Muscle will always be better. Boom.

@RuggerFlail While I do agree, and I love both muscle and imports, couldn't the opposite be said if you lived in germany and bought a 90's BMW M3 to modify? Disregarding the fact that BMWs were built with the main purpose of being comfortable, quite luxury cars, and muscle was really made to do one thing well: accelerate very fast. GM cars are built here in the US, therefore the parts are ofcourse cheaper to get than for a european car, which will have to be imported.

@RuggerFlail - Don't get me wrong i like muscle, we've even got a camaro. But you could easily pick up an Impreza or skyline and do a build that would match a muscle car for the same price. For me, i think its like tomato or tamata, it doesn't matter what it is they both end up at the same point. Both do the quarter in 13, same lap time etc. Its down to personal preference, do you like high rpm 4cly or an all engine low rpm v8, AWD or FR etc...

It's a Pontiac 400 c.i. slightly tricked out, and the color is Hot Rod Gray! The car has since been SOLD! Thanks for all the thumbs up...I totally regret selling this car!

@tvtotee The part you don't see...is the car weighed over 2.5 tons with all the armor plating, 2" steel tubing and 1/4 inch steel skidplate underneath from bumper to bumper...and still did a NON-power brake burnout! ... try that in a rice burner! :) Greetings!

Is this a joke? I looked up the Fiat 130 just to be sure, and found that it topped out at 5600RPM with only 165HP. A BMW E30 or a well equipped Chevy S10 could top that.
Ferrari has made many limited production engines in its life, but the truth is a lot of them are kind of mediocre.

This is a '69 GTO, the tail lights are completely in the bumper on the '68 model.
Front grilles were also different for 68/69, and both years had hidden headlights as an option.
