Remember Elphaba is just a girl... Idena Menzel sounds the same... is a SUPER HIGH BELT song.... in order for a female to "belt" that high and safely without damaging the voice... it has to sound like a little girl. Listen to any high belter--- she's fantastic and can sing the sh__ out of it!!!

I just saw WICKED for the second time with Ms. Espinoza in the lead and her rendition just gives me chills. She is into it 110% every minute and tears the house down with the song "Defying Gravity," the thunderous end of the first act. People absolutely shout and cheer! It's fun to see her sing in this video without her green makeup :) and I think she sounds great as ever. A true actress/singer but also a very musical singer...and that combination doesn't happen very often!

thats intersting that you dont get all excited when she sings. cause i find that the way she sings a song, its never really the same. she changes the notes up quite a bit. usually when i hear her sing my heart just beats like crazy. it took me a little while to really get into her as much as i have. for a while, i thought she was a bit nasally, but eventually i really really started to like her.

Mmmm.. She´s very good.. but I think that It´s not about who can reach the most high note.. She´s very good, I think that all elphabas (Dee, Sho and espinosa) were wonderful.. BUT Idinas voice, in my opinion, was the best for the role.. It´s strong and powerful in the same time.. I think espinosa´s voice a little thin for this role.. Someone with a strong voice will do it better.. I think that she could do glinda´s part, ´cause she has such a amazing voice..

First off, Eden has a good voice. It's not bad. But Idina, on the other hand, has a way more powerful voice than Eden. Also, she sounds sooooooooo nasaly. It actually distracts me from the song. Sometimes Idina is flat, but she changes up the song a lot and it's not easy. Eden in this song also is flat. But I've always been and will always be an Idina fan. She's amazing!

The best thing about this song is that Eden makes Elphaba little. You know? Young. Like her voice isn't fully matured yet. Then as the play goes on, Eden gets more and more mature w/ her voice.
