@demetios Considering when the original was written, music hadn't really gotten this heavy or dark. Black Sabbath had just come out like 6 months before this song was recorded and they were the heaviest and darkest thing around at the time. Personally, I prefer the live version off the BBC Sessions album because of the great guitar solo. This was easily the heaviest song written by Zeppelin and probably my fav next to Achilles Last Stand or Whole Lotta Love

what ya got to remember demetios that led zeppine didn't record this song in as a hi tec studio as d&w and also they never count them selfs as a metal band more blues then anything else, im not have a dig by the way
they made it sound more viking but i still say the original is better. They lowered the vocals down an octave and it is a slower tune. But good cover. Led Zeppelin came first and could perform this song live exactly as it sounded on the album back in 1969 and throughout the 70's. i believe these guys used more studio effects.

they made it sound more viking but i still say the original is better. They lowered the vocals down an octave and it is a slower tune. But good cover. Led Zeppelin came first and could perform this song live exactly as it sounded on the album back in 1969 and throughout the 70's. i believe these guys used more studio effects.

i agree i always thought this was way better than the orginal. hansi is a way better vocalist than led zepplins vocalist, plus i prefer it heavier like this. and zoso how is it too slow its the same speed as the orginal or even slightly faster hansi just holds notes longer than the orginal vocalist

I first heard this song only a couple of days ago. I've listened to this cover and the original version aswell. I know old Zeppelin fans will crucifie me, but in my opinion the cover is much better. The giutar sound is more powerfull and Hansi's vocals are a lot more agressive.
