Very poor technique for the knockout punch actually. He dragged his fist through the punch and his forearm should not move with a swiping action like that. Im amazed he was able to generate enough power to end the fight. Imagine the power he would have if he worked on his technique.
@AllyWheels It was a purposely thrown punch to get around the guard and blindside Sprott with with it. He turned the knuckles over and everything and got the snap behind the punches. Sprott was expecting the same punch Audley had been using the whole fight but was not expecting the unorthodox-ness of the punch that took him out, and Audley knew that.

Sure, Harrison landed a peach of a left hander on Sprott who didn't know anything about it, but he was losing on the cards massively, hadn't shown any real fight, drive or variety in his boxing up until then and had got rocked a few seconds before by a average and past it Sprott. Anything can happen in a heavyweight bout when you've got two massive guys trading blows, but apart from another lucky shot I can't see Harrison out doing the more lively and technical Haye. TKO in 4th or 5th!

audley harrison is like emile heskey .. hes been at the top level of his sport for all of his career although he has no talent and has only ever had one good moment in his career! harrison won the olympic gold and heskey won the FA cup with liverpool apart from this neither man has done anything well in their whole career! @kingborov lol you can't compare a boxer to a football player, a boxer has to do it by himself, whereas a footballer such as emile heskey plays for the team(which he does very well) the only reason people complain about heskey is because hes branded as a 'striker' just because he doesn't score, doesn't make him bad.

@hullcityftw Harrison got his title fight with Haye purely for money. Everybody knew that he wasn't going to beat Haye and that's why Harrison was investigated for throwing the fight because he got his ass beat that bad people thought he wasnt trying.
And i have no idea why Heskey is in the premiership because he is not a prolific goalscorer, he falls over nearly every time he gains possession and he doesnt have flair or pace or particularly good tactical awareness.

it's not a place in "an" international side, it's a place in the England team, its about who he would be playing with, he works well with rooney, whenever the ball was in the air, it was aimed towards him as he controls it, barely gives possesion away, like i said, not all strikers need to score goals, what would people say about crouch if he didn't have a good goalscoring record? the same with bent, it just depends on the type of player, and what qualities they bring to the team.

also, if sport worked in the way your describing it with harrison and heskey, then every sport in the world would be full of amateurs.
People complain about people like Heskey etc... but even if they play the same sport, there is very very little chance they would be anywhere near as good as the person they're complaining about in the same environment (e.g you playing for aston villa, or being able to compete for heavyweight titles)

that is the exact analogy, but i have a different reasoning, Heskey was a force of nature in his early career and with the right guidance could have become something close to an English Ronaldo (original Ronaldo), however he was coddled by the wrong people and didnt develop his abilities, and like Audley Harrison he got complaicent, and then it was too late

Can't see how he could continue as a professional after this, so he's probably better off doing as you said. I'll never buy him as a good pro again on the basis of this. Everyone agreed Audley would lose but I expected him to shock the world, his PR worked on me. It's a shame but I'll lose no sleep over it, just disappointed he didn't seem to make an effort

Very poor technique for the knockout punch actually. He dragged his fist through the punch and his forearm should not move with a swiping action like that. Im amazed he was able to generate enough power to end the fight. Imagine the power he would have if he worked on his technique.

@AllyWheels It was a purposely thrown punch to get around the guard and blindside Sprott with with it. He turned the knuckles over and everything and got the snap behind the punches. Sprott was expecting the same punch Audley had been using the whole fight but was not expecting the unorthodox-ness of the punch that took him out, and Audley knew that.

Sure, Harrison landed a peach of a left hander on Sprott who didn't know anything about it, but he was losing on the cards massively, hadn't shown any real fight, drive or variety in his boxing up until then and had got rocked a few seconds before by a average and past it Sprott. Anything can happen in a heavyweight bout when you've got two massive guys trading blows, but apart from another lucky shot I can't see Harrison out doing the more lively and technical Haye. TKO in 4th or 5th!
