They may not be perfect, but what Rob Zombie does best with his Halloween films is make you understand that beneath all the cartoonish archetypes these characters often fall under, they are still human. The first film did this with Michael, and the second film does it with his victims. Annie's death, and her father's subsequent discovery of her, are a perfect example. If that does not hit you hard, then you have no soul. Simple as that.
@CapNCorn Thank you...that is what I loved so much about this version...he was made human and showed as that and what brought him to this point. He wasnt the silent killer who wont die. You even heard him in his rages while he killed people.
@ToDaMaxxx Rob understood how messed up it was for fans of slasher films to root for the killer, and not care about the victims. The dialogue may have been vulgar, and the movies may not have been the best, but Rob set out to show us just how tragic such an event would be. The whore, the jock, the weirdo, the final girl, these archetypes may apply in slasher films, sure, but Rob is aware that such people exist, and a killing spree like this would be traumatizing. Everyone is someone's loved one.

i guess in a way its kind of a bittersweet death scene...i mean in H6, Jamie was killed, but Danielle wasn't playing her so i really didnt feel any kind of emotion or connection to the Jamie character in H6, but with Annie's death, i felt more of a connection, especially with the flashbacks of her as a little girl, it's almost like watching Jamie's death, but getting it right this time...very very well done..it's a bittersweet send off and glad it was done the right way. Yeah, but Annie is *supposed* to be the same age as Laurie and she went through pretty much the same thing, plus it isn't just that Laurie's acting out, it's that Rob Zombie totally white trash-i-fied her to the nth degree. Seems very out of sorts with her character in the original. Danielle Harris and Brad Dourif pretty much were the only good points in this film.

my god, the scene where sheriff bracket finds annie is so harrowing and heart breaking, i am a grown man and i cried when i saw that. brad douriff is a seriously underated actor and i think he deserves some kind of award for that scene alone.
Rob Zombie also made a good point, he say's that usually in horror movies, they show a year later, or two years later, and the character is fine.
So he decided to change it, and show how everyone is pretty screwed up after the attack. Laurie's foster parents were killed, her friends were killed, and then finds out, that the one who did all of this was her brother.

I cried at the part in the movie when Annie died. What the fuck did she do to deserve that?! I think that may be mainly because of my hots for Danielle Harris, but it still got some tears out of me.
Besides, not like Laurie had any more right to live. All she did was scream, cry, and curse.

They may not be perfect, but what Rob Zombie does best with his Halloween films is make you understand that beneath all the cartoonish archetypes these characters often fall under, they are still human. The first film did this with Michael, and the second film does it with his victims. Annie's death, and her father's subsequent discovery of her, are a perfect example. If that does not hit you hard, then you have no soul. Simple as that.

@ToDaMaxxx Rob understood how messed up it was for fans of slasher films to root for the killer, and not care about the victims. The dialogue may have been vulgar, and the movies may not have been the best, but Rob set out to show us just how tragic such an event would be. The whore, the jock, the weirdo, the final girl, these archetypes may apply in slasher films, sure, but Rob is aware that such people exist, and a killing spree like this would be traumatizing. Everyone is someone's loved one.

the only characters i likedwere annie and brackett. first off there both very popular actor. Daniell harris known for her role in h4 and h5 and Brad Dourif known for his role as chucky. Because not only she and her dad allow her to stay in her house and bitch all the time, Annie was attacked and hurt badly by Michael, Laurie owes her for that one, because Annie wouldn't have died if she hadn't cared for her and she would never have gone through this if she hadn't known Laurie.

i guess in a way its kind of a bittersweet death scene...i mean in H6, Jamie was killed, but Danielle wasn't playing her so i really didnt feel any kind of emotion or connection to the Jamie character in H6, but with Annie's death, i felt more of a connection, especially with the flashbacks of her as a little girl, it's almost like watching Jamie's death, but getting it right this time...very very well done..it's a bittersweet send off and glad it was done the right way. Thanks Danielle!!! :)

This is one of the most underrated horror movies ever. I don't get why the other Halloween fans have been such jerks to this movie.

Yeah, but Annie is *supposed* to be the same age as Laurie and she went through pretty much the same thing, plus it isn't just that Laurie's acting out, it's that Rob Zombie totally white trash-i-fied her to the nth degree. Seems very out of sorts with her character in the original. Danielle Harris and Brad Dourif pretty much were the only good points in this film.

my god, the scene where sheriff bracket finds annie is so harrowing and heart breaking, i am a grown man and i cried when i saw that. brad douriff is a seriously underated actor and i think he deserves some kind of award for that scene alone.

Rob Zombie also made a good point, he say's that usually in horror movies, they show a year later, or two years later, and the character is fine.
So he decided to change it, and show how everyone is pretty screwed up after the attack. Laurie's foster parents were killed, her friends were killed, and then finds out, that the one who did all of this was her brother.

Although i like this scene, i do think they over do it with the swearing. I get that its supposed to show how much Laurie has changed since the first film but it just sounded so unbelievable to me.
