Me too , it makes the reading sound but it wont start . My laser works but i don't know . My psp got washed lol but it works fine except it wont read UMD disks ! I was thinking about hacking it but there isn't a tutorial for a psp 3000 6.10 . Please help someone ~

If you had CFW, you'll never use umds again

and you can just play cso/iso

Try This... Open Your UMD SLOT

Insert Your UMD

Slowly Close the SLOT while your hand is on top of the umd..

Another Help..

Take A Toy Clay..

Stick it on the UMD disk.. Not on the middle .. Closely To the middle move it to the right..

Close the UMD SLOT

It will read :)

~ Dont use the Second Help.. if your not on slim..

this happend to me once. i read online to move it to the far left. dont do that. dont use foil either. i ended up moving it the far right. it kept working from then on.

Ok this happened when dust gets in in soo you HAVE TO take it apart and get to the other side of the laser and blow on it

take a cleanex and wipe the laser gently not to hard and it should work and also keep the laser to the left ive done it to 17 psps and worked every time

Ok guys I've figured out how 2 do this yesterday u must remove umd door, and the case that holds the game and the screw on the laser use a knife 2 loosen it up a little worked 4 me.

if the disk slides inside the clear umd case u need to have it fixed so that it wont move around cuzz it wont work if the disk thingy in the umd itself moves

you dont need money to fix it , i called up playstaion and they gave me a new one the next day exactly the same. only downside is that they didnt give the battery pack so i had to wait another week for it but now its been one year and my new psp is working fine :)

mines makes the same noise noise when i put a umd in it.(psp1001)so i press the switch inside of it and the laser lights up and the black circle thing spins but the thing does not go back in forth.it just stays there does not move.i would send it to sony but i found it in da woods a while back any one got any ideas with wats wrong wit it?

I just recently had a problem like this. You have to move the laser thing, that goes side to side. If you touch the laser, it wont matter. Blow on the disc and the drive. Turn off then on. A cold reboot usually works. Keep trying, it will eventually pop up. The problem is that the laser won't move, or the drive is fucked up, but it shuld work :)

ok. i have 1 theory. if you dropped your psp which you might have. know when you put your umd in the psp, the laser is probably not close enough to read the umd so push it LIGHTLY not hard. it is just a theory so dont get your hopes up.

my sister gave me her psp and it does the same thing. but if your psp is still under warranty just send it in to sony and get it fixed for free.

hey like i said i would contact u. i'm not sure of the state of condition of your PSP so i cant tell u how to fix it but what i would try is to way watch my video on how to replace psp screen/umd drive and u just watch and disconnect all of the wires i do and if it still doesn't work you can buy a new umd drive off ebay for about 15 to 20 dollars
