  • holy shit!!i love this song!!! i didnt know u covered this! thats awesome

  • My ring finger has it's 1st blister.. it says thanks

  • @warrenmusic If you watch Jonny Greenwood play this song, you'll see him strumming upward. My guess is that is his way of keeping track of the fact that he on the up beat with those power chords. I agree with you, Warren. It is straight forward in it's time signature. The listener is just easily duped by accent changes and layers of syncopation. It's a lovely thing.

  • Haha! Wonderful adapt for the guitar, Warren... I feel fearless... now the trick is learning how... as you said to sing and to play at once! :D

Thanks anyway, and a lot. I realized though that just the guitar work on Radiohead stands by itself... like a classical guitar piece. And it seems that no one knows the right lyrics to this song - but since I trust you, I'll watch your cover and find out.

  • is this classic or acoustic guitar? thanks for tutorial by the way it really helped!.

  • This is live version of this song by Radiohead Live from the Basement it is verrryy good!!

  • my fingers hurt lol

  • What strings do you prefer using, Warren?

  • @HedlessChickn Elixir Nanoweb Mediums in 80/20 Bronze are my favorite.

  • I kinda named my guitar, i call it the crying minotaur due to the large decal on the body

  • Hey Warren,

I've been following your tutorials for some time now (ever since you posted there there) and just wanted to send a massive thanks your way. These video lessons are absolutely fantastic. Keep up the top work!

  • Nice!

  • hey jullian

  • Great tutorial, by the way. I forgot to mention that haha

I tried the song by ear, but I needed help on the bridge. Thanks a lot!

  • I think you missed part of the chorus.

  • dude you MAKE ur students listen to radiohead? why cant i have a music teacher like you lol

  • @bombtom512 Dude, you can be my student on Skype. Add my Skype name: warrenlain

  • i dont think your right about the off beat thing, the chorus goes straight into the verse without going back to the onbeat, i think they just ended the verses early to sound better

  • @futurfry Meter is subjective but it makes the most sense to me if you don't have a 7/8 measure in the first half. Listen to the bridge on to the end and you can much more easily hear the verse as syncopated the second half (which makes the chorus on the beat).

  • @warrenmusic that last bridge is what confuses me the most. i try to tap my foot to the "and," but it still feels awkward. anyways, thanks for the help.

  • @warrenmusic

the kick and snare pattern changes from the verse to the chorus though to accomodate a measure of 7/8. The snare is always on 2 and 4 and the kick is always on the & of 2 and 4.

    Excellent cover btw!

  • @samwel21 If you count the snare on the & of 2 and 4 there is no need for a 7/8 measure going into the chorus nor a 9/8 measure going into the bridge. Ultimately, meter is subjective, but my educated guess is that the song has no changes in meter whatsoever and is simply syncopated from the beginning (just hard to hear... I believe RH intentionally hid it).

  • the strings are in tune with each other but the overall the tuning is a little lower than drop D

  • yeah, i found it , hahahaaa, how about a tutorial on "go to sleep" ? that woould be nice ,

  • Hey it sounds like Julian is not tuned like you said.

  • hey warren, i finished a cover of little by little this week, and i posted it as a response to this video since you really helped me figure out how to play it. let me know what you think, and thanks for all the tutorials, you're awesome.

  • @cheppito Drop the E to D baby !!!!!!!

  • Are you out of tune? my guitar sounds a bit different when i play over the video

  • F dude. i've been stuck on trying to figure out the upbeats since sunday. FFF!!!! FFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!

    FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU radiohead and alex

  • @briarjwumoelliu Listen from the bridge!

  • @warrenmusic it is confusing but you can also figure it out this way--- the snare is on the "and" of 2 and 4. if you count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 for each measure (8th notes) the snare hits are on 4 and 8. the kick drum lands nicely on 1 and 5 (down-beat of 1 and 3). there is your drum beat for the song. kick drum on 1 and 5. snare on 4 and 8. try counting this way from the last chorus (it is much easier to tell where the beat is during the last chorus) then go back to the start and count it. bingo!

  • @sonicbluestrato I think you meant that for briarjwumoelliu but although your description is spot on, some people just struggle with feeling it even if they KNOW what it should be. It's super tough for those guys.

  • @warrenmusic yah, that comment is for briarjwemoelliu and anyone else that gets turned around by the beat. myself included. i know what the beat is and where it should be. still sometimes it's hard to find.

  • Great work as always Warren! Btw the guitar in this song sounds like if it was taken from a Robert rodriguez film

  • Your response regarding the lack of guitar base is exactly what I hoped for -- taking music itself as the abstraction. It is then a fascinating exploration of the album itself. Thanks, Paul.

  • very awesome stuff warren. keep it up man.

  • my guitar is named gjoyceatar

  • this may be a silly question but, the bass follows the guitar?

  • I name all my guitars by military rank. And my car's name is "Debra"

  • my guitar is called tanguy

    nice review warren

  • yaaay thank you so much! you've made my day!!

  • Great video as always, Mr Warren. You've inspired me to do a tutorial myself... it's for Separator. Just posted it--- watch?v=nNzU1OYBICQ

  • @sonicbluestrato Good work, sir!

  • @warrenmusic and now Morning Mr Magpie - watch?v=nwMRlT4sCU0

  • fantastic man. love your tutorials.

  • it's called "open", not "zero"...just sayin'

  • @vamoonan When numbering frets, the open fret is also known as "zero" fret. Some guitars even have an extra fret just off the nut that is named the "zero"fret ...just sayin'

  • oooooh what a cliffhanger at the end! I totally get what you are saying about the two guitar parts working together, ed and jonny are tighter than ever on this track. When i first heard the song it made me think of ed and jonny as a four handed guitar player covering two guitars at the same time

  • im so psyched for the general musical talks!!!! THANKS for this :D awesome!

    mr. magpie next plsss
