  • Nature video widens the spectrum of my knowledge about nature. seahorses, are amazingly beautiful!

  • It looks like they stretch their tail out to build negative pressure in their bodies, and then open their mouths to relieve the pressure, causing their food to be suck in. what do you think of my theory?

  • Nature videos are really fantastic.

  • Quite interesting! I enjoy watching them at the Manta Aquarium at SeaWorld. It's one of my favorite spots to sit and enjoy them. Thanks for the video!

  • How do they bahave as pets... Good or bad? I'm thinking about buying a few as pets....

  • @petete21521 leave them alone

  • im still trying to figure out the (unprovable) theory of evolution. So if I understand, I should be able to alter my dna by just doing something like holding onto something or alwys jumping off of small cliffs into water, then my kids do it too, and eventually our family down the lines , and we will develop wierd shaped hands and wings? ummm ftw? evolution makes no sense

  • @douglaswbenson I agree

  • God created them. Evolution is bunk.

  • @douglaswbenson

    lol :)

  • basically, everything is evolving to become more and more lazy :) just dont move and wait for food to come hehe

  • wow. that only explained that the seahorse and pipefish have something in common. nothing more, nothing less.

  • Beautiful video in its simplicity, further enhanced by a great VO that accompanies the images without becoming overbearing. A small jewel indeed. Thank you so much for posting!

  • we will see in a few years if its only this single reason...thats what makes science so cool

  • Its interesting that we always try to define a reason or purpose for peculiar body design. And if we can't, we call it vestigial

  • @xdopiex over-simplification imo ... we only call it vestigial if

    1) it was present in ancestral species

    2) it serves no perceivable purpose now

    3) keeping it is not a significant disadvantage

if any of the above aren't true, then a deeper explanation is required, and we just say we don't know yet

  • I highly doubt that this is the only reason for having an s-shaped body...

  • @afhdfh External pressure (less food, more and better predators) often requires a new surviving strategy. Those most fitted to use this new strategy will thrive and spread. It's simple and elegant as that.
