His signature solo... you can see the moonlight shimmering over the water... his sensitivity to his approach to every note.... bravisimo ! I have heard them all... but Getz stands alone. When he joined up with Astrud.... it was pure class.
@milessinatra Getz Stands Alone....a great thing to put on a tee shirt! I'm gonna go get one made tomorrow. The man's sound is without equal....this is beautiful beyond belief.
Wow Getz's playing here is delicious! He makes it sound effortless but it's actually really difficult to get a sound like that, He uses alternate fingerings to create subtle changes of timbre and pitch variation. Not to mention his phrasing and choice of improvisatory material which is inspired and coherent. I like this indulgent, langorous arrangement but I could have done without the high string countermelody which sounds thin and sticks out in the left speaker like an air conditioning unit.
What a truly beautiful instrumental. In his time, Getz was a master on the tenor sax; and although there are many talented musicians out there today, he seemed to have something that was simply...well...special. Thanks for sharing.
With Delphi you will Getz is a great sax and sound. The sound just as it was called. It was recognized very special to many.
