The mindset of true selflessness implies that thoughtfulness toward those around you outweighs your own self-interests. In which case, you would be happy to suffer if it meant somebody else could have the last apple. Opening the door for somebody is a shining example. This is a mindset I truly believe every newborn is capable of learning.

Mental stress can allow a person to function in a manner which doesn't represent they're true character. There must be a balance between negative and positive that's why i can fully agree with a completely selfless world. Fear and succumbing to it can cause a lot of selfishness to occur.

@Hache2KMusic tying it to the positive--optimism is much more emotionally motivating than pessimism. Stress would drastically diminish or even disappear in a totally selfless society. Main reason, teamwork is ALWAYS more efficient and the amount of labor required to sustain well-being would diminish and possibly disappear (with robotics). As selflessness increases productivity, people get happier, people volunteer even more. It's a self-perpetuating cycle kinda like compound interest.

@GilucZ there is a lot YOU can do.stock up on essentials, water,tinned foods, medicines. Invest in gold stocks. buy a generator,with enough fuel.When it kicks off evacuate to non population centres. You will be preparing for famine,disease,financial collapse,all of which will cause riots as people try to survive. AND FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO BE. Do not accept their LIES.
