  • I just cant make sense out of the posts below, but it is car lights. I have seen them, and MTU has a vid of them.

  • @burninbiomass

Seriously. I thought computers now-a-days had the ability to spell check, grammar correct, add periods, commas, enable capitalization, prevent run on sentences....

  • maybe a classical case of a fata morgana or mirage....a reflection from a far away lighted object. Or here we have a wisp. In that case it is paranormal activity ;)

  • I didn't pass nearly enough cars on the highway from and to Houghton at night to explain how constant this light is. Also, it's been going on for over 40 years. It may not be ghosts, but I seriously doubt it's all been headlights this whole time.

  • @majean - How long has Hwy. 45 been there? That should tell you how long the lights have been there. Obviously, cars have been around for well more than 4 decades now.

  • @TheUFOResearch The problem you'll find is that if you go to Paulding and ask 10 people about the light, you'll get 10 different stories about its origin, how long its been appearing, etc... you're also bound to hear stories about how the CIA, FBI and US military allegedly studied it and couldn't explain it. This phenomena has taken on all the trappings of a classic urban legend in every way.

  • Highway 51? High 51 is nowhere near there. I am not sure you know exactly where you were standing when you saw the light. Marquette County Michigan has CR51 but not listed as a highway. I can buy that its cars, possibly. but the angle that which one stands facing the light, does not cross any main roads until one is going into Rockland Michigan. Its possible that its a mirage we all see but it is "NOT" cars on Highway 45 because Robbins Pond Road angles off to the northwest there.

  • Highway 45 runs north and then north east slightly and then north again. There is no point where the angle that one views the paulding light is parallel to 45 nor does 45 cross anywhere in front of the viewing point all the way to Bruces Crossing, even though the debunkers said the high crosses 4 or 5 miles up the road from the viewing point. Show me your proof that its highway 45 and cars on highway 45 or 51 if you choose to believe that road runs through there.

  • @bostonartist2008 Not true. Look at Paulding on google maps. Scroll down and zoom out to a resolution of about 2 miles / 2 km. As you say, 45 runs north east. This is where old highway 45 (that leads to the observation point) juts off directly north. 45 continues NE, then veers back north. About a mille (give or take) past where old 45 breaks off, "Forest Highway 5250" crosses over 45.

  • @bostonartist2008 if you turn right onto "5250" after about 2,500 feet you'll meet up with what was the continuation of "old highway 45". Turn left and it willl dead end at the hill. Turn RIGHT and it continues north; paraleling the new stretch of 45. After running due north for about a mile, new 45 starts to veer north west, while old 45 goes more or less due north. Another mile or so up the road, the old and new stretches of 45 intersect approx. 1,500 feet south of Bond Falls Rd

  • @bostonartist2008 now remember, the power line easement / right of way cuts through the woods right along side the old stretch of 45. Its where new 45 starts to veer north west and begins to parallel OLD 45 that the headlights slip through. This isnt obvious from the observation point, but if you drive north to bond falls road and head back south, where the power lines cross over, stop and look south along them. You'll see the top of the hill in the distance.

  • @bostonartist2008 So yes - 45 DOES paralell old 45 and a quick review of a current map shows this to be fact. So to correct myself after looking at google maps... Its not 4 or 5 miles up the road - its about half that distance.

  • Again I am not saying its not cars, but the only plausible explanation (if it is cars) is that its a mirage of a highway further north over a hill, like most mirages work. Bent light, etc.

  • @bostonartist2008

You have the wrong viewing location. The viewing spot is on old 45 (which Robbins pond rd. now detours down). You can verify this by looking at the satellite view of both roads. All vids show the power line and the trees trimmed back for it. On the satellite view, you can see what they have labeled for Robbins Pond Rd is mostly covered by trees, and doesn't run straight for long enough.

  • @bostonartist2008 OK my bad - yes I meant to say highway 45!

  • Dear god people, it's headlights and tail lights. If you look close at other videos, you can even see the split tailights. I've been there quite a few times, even before the road washed out and was removed. It's cars on the highway going over the hill.

Take any cheap scope there and set it up at the guardrail during the day. You'll clearly see cars going up and down the hill. Then wait until dusk, all of a sudden the lights appear, because people on the road turned their lights on.

  • @hpiguy Thank you! Anyone that has not observed the phenomena first-hand and been to the location has any right to dismiss the observations of those of us who HAVE been there - ESPECIALLY if their informational "source" is a lame-assed TV show. Thats like someone saying because they have never seen Antarctica, it can't exist.

  • @nopethegeek A TV show where their boat was chased by a prehistoric monster...IN A MAN MADE LAKE! They are incompetent in so many ways it's just not funny.

  • @youbetrippinfool - Hey, maybe it was a MAN MADE prehistoric monster! LOL!

  • if youve never been there, just shut the fuck up, trust me, i would know, there is not enough traffic on the road to keep it going all night, which it does.

  • @thegamerking97 its a state highway. You're going to say there aren't 2 or 3 cars that drive it in the span of an hour even at 3 AM? It's a remote area. its not THAT remote or obscure.

  • whats funny is i did the same thing with a telescope about 10 years ago, what i saw was headlights, i was almost disappointed.... when out of the corner of my eye i saw a beachball size ball of light red-auburn in color about 30 feet from me halfway up the trees that sat still for 5-10 seconds then shot off at a 90 degree angle over the trees,.... this was in the middle of july and there were witnesses everywhere. ive heard stories of people say that a light chases them near there...

  • Its sad actually that "Fact or Faked" couldn't (wouldn't?) figure this out. I debunked this as a 25 year old who had no idea what he was doing and with none of the fancy gadgets that this TV show had. Just enough wisdom to WAIT FOR THE DAMN SUN TO COME UP TO PINPOINT WHERE IT OCCURS! In early morning with enough sunlight , and under high magnification, you can see the cars themselves.

  • @ghosthoundstv i also find that they debunk things in the wrong way.. like they ignore a lot of shit all the time.. whether they claim its paranormal of fake.

  • @lejendjackson the show also (as I understand) believed it was possible the Apollo moon landings were faked. Thats hysterical!!

  • @lejendjackson Yep. But then what should we expect? Integrity and honesty? It's a TV show! They don't care about uncovering the truth - they care about getting ratings and money from advertisers.

  • @ghosthoundstv On Fact or Faked they closed the road and the light was still there. Explain that

  • @AaronAirstrike How FAR up the road did they close it off? Where exactly? This is what they never tell you. Look... all the locals in the area KNOW it's BS. They've known its BS for years, but they also know its good for local business.

  • @AaronAirstrike They couldn't even see their own headlights - explain that. Or I'll explain it for you - they didn't go far enough up the road to recreate it.

  • I hear all these stories about how the light allegedly can't be car headlights, because people have seen it hover above them. I've YET to see any video evidence of it doing that. The photos and videos I've seen ALWAYS show it in the same exact place every night. Why do you think that is???

  • So it happens EVERY night only like once? Sometimes it happens a couple times but ALWAYS once or twice EVERY night. And what about when people walk over there I know many personally and they see it for a how long walk then they dont see anything when they get like RIGHT next to where it should be. No offense but I just don't think it could be headlights when they're on that long. Our opinions can be stated too and just saying you don't have to try and prove me wrong :P

  • @danceforevergirl

The light goes on and off all night, its just more sporadic later at night (less traffic then). When I was there it was on and off many times.

People walk to where they THINK it should be, not where it is. You have to walk thru the town of Paulding and up US45 for a ways to get to the spot the lights come from.

  • @burninbiomass Like I said you don't have to prove me wrong ((: and plus I found a video from a local college in michigan stating that it's not real but it more like a star effect (;

  • @danceforevergirl if you don't want someone to "prove you wrong" don't engage in debate OR post your opinion if you can't accept the fact that others will disagree with your opinion and have alternate explainations.

  • @ghostgeek I'm sorry but I will state my opinion if I WANT to. And plus, did you see my second or first post. Honestly I was kidding. And please, I am "accepting the fact that others engage in debate". Seriously, you didn't have to take more than a minute posting that comment.

  • @danceforevergirl No problem with you stating your opinion. Just don't post it and expect that others won't disagree and say so! =)

  • @ghosthoundstv I did expect people would xD and I did expect that people would argue because a lot of people don't like the fact that people have a different opinion from theirs xD

  • @danceforevergirl If someone tells you 2+2=5 and you correct them and say "no - it's 4" it has nothing to do with you "liking or disliking" them or their opinion. You're simply correcting their error.

  • @nopethegeek Well when it comes to "ghosts" people have their own opinions. And usually they don't like to be "corrected" as you say. Simply I DON'T believe the Paulding Light is a ghost. There are only a couple questions that come in my mind when I think of the Paulding light. But people PLEASE leave me alone and not argue with me. Thank You, Brianna.

  • @danceforevergirl Well, if you don't want to be "corrected" then don't post your opinion! This is a PUBLIC FORUM and if you can't handle people disagreeing with you and SAYING so, then you shouldn't comment. It's that simple.

  • @ghosthoundstv Okay. My god. Shut up about the fact I commented ONCE and was "wrong". Please stop bothering me -_-

  • I have lots of experience with the Paulding Light, 20+ years' worth. It's not headlights; if it was, the sightings would have started with the advent of cars with far-brighter headlamps than were available (burning-oil lamps) at the time they started. And, of course, that highway wasn't even built at the time all this started... now what?

  • @drjass340

The first reported sighting was in the 60's, right after they re-routed that section of US45.

  • @drjass340 I'd like to see historical reports of the light that predate the advent of cars. Everything I've seen says it was first reported in the 1950's or 1960's. If you have historical documentation to the contrary, I'd love to see it.

  • looks like car lights to me. makes total sense. different size cars and trucks would make them appear different. if they happen at the same time of day or night it could be people driving to and from work , semi trucks probly look brighter cuz they tend to have alot of lights mounted on them. fact or faked is just a TV show its for entertainment purpose. I watch it .the actors are too dramatic i think.

  • @spider13855

You are 100% correct with cars and trucks. You also nailed the problem with Fact or Faked, its an entertainment show, not any scientific proof. For science, check out MTU's investigation where they see the cars.

  • i dont understand! its not car lights, becuase there would not be that same light every day around the same time! the light stays to long and there would be the same thing happening in different areas if it was a car light, if you guys dont understand what im saying, well here's what i mean, its all to percise every day, it just doesnt fit, i still say its an unexplained science thing.

  • WAIT A MINUTE!!! they say the so-called "Paulding Ghost Light" comes out at night. in this vid it was a light evening. so, by my right, I would like to say: "To all the retards that believe this shit, they're car head-lights." That'll be all.

  • @SnappingMAMMAL7 are you retarded? the reason it seemed light evening is because the quality sucked and how can you make such a stupid point? its every night around the same time and is to bright and if this was a car, why doesn't it happen a bunch of times at night, why once? and if it was a car then it could happen at other places in the world, all im trying to say is, the light has to much Precise details, you can keep your theory but i don't believe what you say.

  • @hamburgermeat1818 OK I dont think i should have jumped right to conclusion

  • @SnappingMAMMAL7 Im sorry that I posted that comment, lol, i just get mad over these types of things :P

  • @hamburgermeat1818 It actually DOES appear many times during the night. And if you do a search for "spook lights" or "ghost lights" you will see that this type of "phenomena" DOES occur in MANY places.

  • @ghosthoundstv well in that case i agree with you.

  • I got some great advice as a child. "Don't believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see."

  • @satodd67 did you say don't believe anything you hear? don't you mean everything? because if you don't believe anything you hear you hear then that would not make sense, that would mean that if your mother said shes your mother your not gonna believe that? or if someone said there making dinner or going to bed or if that its time for school, you would not believe it? But if you don't believe everything then that would be reasonable, believing normal things and not ridiculous things. Right??? :)

  • @satodd67 well said!

  • Another problem I have with "Fact or Faked" is they credit co-star Bill Murphy as a "scientist". I know Bill personally, and while he is a very nice person, he does NOT to the very best of my knowledge hold a degree in ANY branch of science. He is a filmmaker by profession. I take real issue with ANYONE being assigned fake titles to lend a false sense of integrity. It's like paranormal investigators who get a "degree" from a diploma mill and then Call themselves "Dr". FACT OR FAKED INDEED!

  • Good Work Poster -- using their own "proof" as evidence to debunk it! Anyone who simply says "Fact or Faked proved it" or something like that has been fooled. They got it wrong! See the video MHFQjkuj084 (cut and paste that in to the Youtube search bar) and you'll see my results.

  • I've been there too, and saw the cars myself. If Fact or Faked couldn't figure this out, they are just dumb.

  • the paulding lights are not headlights because on fact or faked they proved it wasn't headlights so yeah.....

  • @livinintheoc so you believe everything you see on TV, huh? Sorry. I've been there. I've seen the "phenomena" first hand many times, and what I've seen is nothing more than car headlights on highway 51 distorted by marsh gas.

  • @ghosthoundstv You talking? It cant be car headlights. @livinintheoc just forgot to mension they tested it themselves and prooved it was NOT car headlights. And seriously, it goes into the sky. I know what it is...

It's hagrid on his flying motorcycle :D JK. Nobody knows, but it's not a stupid *Ghost*.

  • @usajames9 I've been there. I've seen it. Several times. I've looked at the phenomena under high magnification with a telescope - at day break when there was enough ambient light to show what the source of the phenomena is. TRUST me when I tell you - its car headlights. If that shows "investigators" couldn't even see their own headlights, it means quite simply they are incompetent. They did not go far enough up the highway to recreate the phenomena.

  • @ghosthoundstv - Oooooo, you're gonna anger a LOT of whackos out there due to your providing an honest, real, yet simple explanation of those "alien-being-landing-from-outer-space=granny's-ghost" lights! LOL!

  • @ghosthoundstv then how come sometimes it will happen at midnight for about 30 mins and we have enough time to get up there and see no cars there and people say its head lights how come people dont have there friends go up there in a car u stay by post and record him in the car i tell u why u need atleast 400000 candle power to get it the size it gets to and to see it on a clear night i did it plenty of times with my friend cars are barely pushing 75000 candle power with highbeam

  • @ghosthoundstv also i have a cabin 10 miles away and ive been down that highway so many times havnt seen cars my friend sees light still u can see high beams with zoom on camera but that stretch of road i did with search light at the speed limit he saw it for 15 seconds but some times it will last half and hour to 45 mins fact or faked was there in the right spot there a general store not to far from the spot and i saw the day it was shut down because of fact or faked

  • @ghosthoundstv they were in right spot because u can see the street sign in fact or faked as there driving which is the exact sign u can see with telescope from watersmeet point sometimes its highbeams but they dont bulge out that big but theres just something weird that goes on there because with telescope u can see cars drive by but they dont coincide with were the light ill believe what i want im not saying ur wrong im just saying what ive done and have seen

  • hate to tell you, but what you're seeing is NOT the actual Paulding lights. Those are car lights in the distance. yes. But those are not the true lights. What I have seen and what I saw not even a month ago... definately not a car. All the while I saw this light, those car lights were still appearing in the background. Two different phenomenons. one explained, one still not. The Paulding lights aren't as frequent as some think. I don't believe it appears every night.

  • what is it?
