  • Hello Paul.

Sorry for my bad English. Could you give me some information about this guitar (Gretsch 5120)? Where is it made? How much does this guitar in your country? Excuse me, but here in Brazil as this information is not reliable. Thank you.

  • @Rubensclapton ...The guitar is Korean made, though I believe that they now come from a different Korean factory than this one. They are currently £515 at the dealer where I bought mine.

  • @Rubensclapton Your English is excellent, my friend

  • Hey Mac,

as a 52 year old woolyback (St Helens), living in Canada now , I surely DO love to check out yer vids.

    Cheers Mate ,

Never did get another teli (tv) by the way. Ha !

  • @Dwoolyman ...You're more than welcome to drop by anytime.Anything rather than the curse that is tv.Lol

  • You're an excellent player. I've no doubt that ole Chet would have been proud to sit in with you on a few numbers. Wish I was as good. Beautiful Gretsch also. I once owned a 76' Super Chet. Traded it for a Motorcycle like a dumbass. At the time I thought that I could just order up a New one as a replacement down the road. That was about the same time Gretsch went out of Buisness. I've NEVER forgiven myself for that piece of Stupidity.

  • @ancientastronomer ...I think playing with me would've tested Chet's politeness to the limits but it's extremely kind of you to say so.That guitars come and go is a sad fact of life for all of us I fear.

  • wonderful gretsch

  • @cicco277 ....It's a relatively inexpensive Korean one....handsome though,it's true.

  • The feedback sustain at the end was great and made me chuckle. Thanks for sharing!

  • @AWineJourney ...Lol.Don't you just love it when that happens? Thanks very much.

  • great !

  • @guitarquejamais ...You're very kind.Thank you.

  • I was reffering to whole Green Onions song, but nevermind, just watching you play is awesome :)

  • I think the secret is to just go at it.The MGs records are great to play along with ( a variety of keys too) and as long as you don't fill all the spaces you'll be fine

  • I can only agree with all positive comments here :) extremely nice playing, thanks for the upload. Maybe, if you have time and will, you could make a video tutorial for us newbies out there :)

  • Thanks so much....I'm not a very good teacher I'm afraid. If there is something specific you want to know, ask and I'll help if I can

  • Actually the song, "Music, Music, Music", starts with the words, "Put another nickel in".

Thanks for the really nice music, especially, Green Onions!

    Terry in Alexis, NC, USA

  • Thanks very much for that

  • You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Hi -very nice playing and great guitar --winni

  • Thanks so much

  • sounds great.very good job and a 5 star bonus buddy.

  • You're very kind.Thank you.

  • Nice technique

  • Thank you.

  • dude i love your guitar !!!!

  • Thanks.

  • Love that Fatness of the Gretsch! May I ask what diddie you were playing around 0.32 and 1.30? sounds like an old country/blues tune, but I can't place it...memorable....

  • Thanks...just some generic slow rockabilly type stuff and then some chords I fool with sometimes.Nothing specific

  • Sorry...1.30 is either 'Music,Music,Music' or 'Put Another Nickel In'...not sure of the right title

  • hi paul very great playing, great gretsch sound, whats the song from 3.27 beginning? i knew it but - beat me - i dont know the title now, 5 ***** and best wishes

  • Thanks...it's Green Onions

  • i've always wanted to learn that country picking technique...is there a video or book you'd recommend for me to get a good start?

  • The little I can do I kinda worked out myself.I'm afraid I'm the worst person to advise you.Sorry

  • благодарю Вас

  • :-)...thanks - I think.lol

  • I have to say I really liked your take on "Green Onions", you make it look so easy. I've been thinking about treating myself to a Gretsch. I play a tele at the moment and love it but fancy something different. Do you have much in the way of feedback problem in normal playing (I liked how you controlled it at the end)

  • Thanks...I really only play at room volume and the guitar is very well behaved.I have to go pretty high gain and move around to get feedback.

  • Luv the way you show its not just a Rockabilly Guit... I do alot more with mine then just Setzer and Pigat....( Mines the 6118 125th annie ) Good job and keep it rockin!!!

  • Thanks so much.Good to see you.

  • Hey fendermac

love the sound and that gretsch 5120..

thinking of getting one and just wanted your opinion , mostly play rockabilly myself.

Would love to hear from you on the 5120

    Great playing....

    Thanks

    Jay.

  • Thanks so much...the guitar is great value for money and great fun.You should try one for sure.

  • You've been sitting at James Burton's footstool! Nice one

  • Praise indeed! Thank you.

  • Love your Green Onion on your Gretsch.

  • Thanks so much.

  • awesome... fendermac you soooooo deserve that amazing guitar collection!... pure entertainment! (and education) keep rockin'!

  • Thanks so much.Good to see you.

  • what would you say is the highest fret you can reach comfortably?

  • I wouldn't be happy playing bluesy stuff above G at f15.Depends how comfy you are with your thumb hanging.

  • this was great -esp like the sound you get during green onions.

today I tried one of these at the guitar store ... it badly wanted to feed back.

    thanks

  • Thanks very much indeed.

  • its semi hollow, what else would you expect

  • How stupid of me.lol

  • That's lovely.

I'm sitting here with a huge smile on my face.

Great playing, glad to see someone get that much joy out of playing guitar.

  • Life can be grim sometimes but for the guitar. Thanks so much.

  • Beautiful tone and great playing. I would love to try one of those.

  • Great fun and great value. You should try one...and thanks very much.

  • AH ha ha ha ! You crack me up ! I'm having so much fun here watching. So many more to watch too ! Cheer's . . . from another great twit !!

  • Thank you so much.Look forward to seeing you around here and there.

  • wow, great finger picking!!!!

  • Thanks so much.

  • You are, like me, completely mad and I adore your enthusiasm for guitars. My mum told me I'd grow out of them; that was in Acton in 1963 when you could save up your Kellogs cornflake tokens off the packet and get a Burns!

I never got that Burns but I had several encounters with them in later years, the recent Marvin being one. What a fine guitar that is...and your Gretsch is too.

    Cheers.

  • Acton eh?I was an East Acton boy from 1970ish.Bloomin' noisy that Westway.lol.Good to see you and thanks.

  • You will love that guitar.Take my advice and keep it for many years and let your hands get to know the feel of it really really well. That way you will be able play sweeter than someone who keeps swapping around. You can play any style on this guitar.Country,Blues,R/B,Rockabilly,even heavy metal...Malcom Young from AC/DC has been playing one for many years and nothing else.Have a great time!!

  • It's never gonna be No1 for me but I suspect you were talking to Crackerdamus anyway.Lol.

  • Yeah I was talking to Crackerdude..

  • hi, i'm fifteen and i just asked for this guitar for christmas, was this a good decision?

p.s., amazing tone and playing! :D

  • Thanks for the kind words. The guitar is just the best fun to play. You'll love it.

  • I'm smiling from ear to ear. Just great!

  • Thanks so much.We aim to please.Lol

  • LMFAO! set to maximum stun. good job

  • Glad you enjoyed.Thanks.

  • whats the pedal name ? nice sound

  • It's an MXR Dynacomp.Thanks.

  • loved it, your great

  • Hardly great but I do enjoy it and it's nice of you to say so.Thanks very much.

  • You made me buy a 5120 like yours last night. now I need to try to play like you ... a tall order. You should get a sales commission from Gretsch!

  • I hope you enjoy it...and thanks for the kind words.

  • Thats awesome my friend !!!

I like all your vids by the way.

    I found through Stu's channel.

    GreetZZzz Mikey

  • A couple things...

    Green Oinions...key of F?

Secondly: If you don't mind me asking, what do you do? That's an awful lot of books and I could picture you as a proud member of academia (like myself)

Lastly: Great playing! Makes me wanna pick up my Gretsch!

  • Yes..F

I work in a bookshop but have always bought books.

Thank you very much.Pick it up.

  • Always had a soft spot for Gretschs. George had one , and we all love George! Fantastic sound and perfect playing Paul:)

  • I wouldn't know what to do with it if I could play perfectly.lol.Thank you so much again...and yes-we all love George.

  • You have got Steve Cropper spot on this video....do I detect a little Roy Buchanan maybe? This is my favorite blues style! Great playin*****

  • The compressed bendy thing at the start was something I saw Seymour Duncan do in a tv documentary years ago.Not good enough to claim RB as an influence...Thanks for the kind words.

  • It's fun to play and who could resist BookerT?Thanks for the comment.

  • nice guitar man, always like the tone of a Gretsch, soundfs great and i love jamming to green onions,5*****s,,,,peace

  • What did you start playing at 1:23?

Hoping to look at some Gretsch's during the summer months. Fantastic playing.
