Just listened to the Allman version...comparing rhythm sections, Allman version kinda lopes along but Waylon's version comes at you like a freight train...Ritchie justs KICKS IT and I think Waylon had the best rock and roll drummer in Nashville and was the absolute best at playing rock and roll drums to country songs...none of this great music might have never happened when Waylon was about to pack it in and head back to Texas, Ritchie told him there's another way - it's called Rock&Roll

I have seen one time Waylon on video from the mid 70's do a live take of this song. A guy on Waylon's website linked it and then took it off. If any body has it I would sure like to see it put back up on YouTube. I love that guitar lick! By the way, his 1974 album "Ramblin Man" was re-released a couple of years back that has this song on it. I can't see how Willie hit with this song in 1980 when Waylon's version is far superior!
