  • All 3 Kerbals weren't happy at the same time until the rocket started heading down. Hahahahah.

  • Should I get this game? My computer can run Minecraft on fog 2 and normal render distance with 80fps. Is my computer strong enough?

  • Everytime it wobbles it looks like the spacecraft is dancing. xD

  • You need to get up to AT-LEAST 10-15,000km before you start tilting ;)

  • And...that was completely hilarious! Keep up the guten work :) Almost died laughing watching the rocket speed towards the earth.

  • i attempted to orbit earth with my homemade vostok rocket

    i got into orbit but....

....now im stuck cuz i fucking used up all deorbit fuel

  • cut the stage in half and add a 2nd set of boosters

  • The strut connectors break apart when yoiu activate them so.....the boosters wouldn't have been stuck together.

  • how do you install KSP??

  • i think jeb and i would get along just fine because i would maniacly laugh at falling to the ground at 300 meters per second

  • Your vids are great!! I love ksp

  • If Kurt ever designs a rocket that I am supposed to ride, I am going to run away screaming.

  • there's something wrong with Jebediah : D his face the entire time

  • wait u said

    there alive

thats bad. u wanted them to die?

  • laughed sooooo hard..

  • ....Is it that hard to point it upwards and floor it?

    I'm an ass, yeah.

  • dude, your not going horizontally, the smoke trails just aren't that accurate yet.

  • @kurtjmac this is the most interesting thing you've youtube'd. Even building the lego space shuttle will not be as cool! Space is awesome!! We all must go there!

  • 7:01 Uhhh... the astronauts are having fun...

  • Looks like a missile

  • u know, whenever u count down, all i can think of is the song major tom for the rest of the vid XD

  • futuristic shadow?

you mean the future will be a dick?

  • This game is fun, but annoying at soem times, sometimes my rocket literally just falls apprt on the launch pad

  • @TheOverkill102 You're just not all that great at the game then xD

  • @MayThereBePivot hahaha, im not kidding it wil literally fall apart , like they forgot to use glue xD

  • @TheOverkill102 It's too heavy then, just follow along with this failthrough ^ and you'll be fine until you get off the ground. [literally]

  • it helps if there's an SAS module below the comand pod. it will cusion their fall, and if it explodes they survive.

  • My first rocket went straight up and then went straight down, my second rocket fell on its side when I tried to launch it, and my third rocket just went completely FUBAR.

  • STOP TILTING YOUR ROCKET U NOOB

  • I've been orbiting the sun for a year now and Kerbin is very slowly pulling up to me and it seems like in another year, the Kerman brothers may return home!

  • about halfway through the video i was yelling "abort mission! abort mission!" at my screen.

  • Most amazing parts are the Explosions

  • hellooooo ladies and gentleman! my name is burt...

  • i bet i was the only one who played duke nukem vs pootis while he was flying

  • 4:55 - We're Gonna Die! :O

  • my first launch: hmmm, that looks bad, whaat if I-BOOM- god dammit!

    flight results: crewmembers KIA: all

  • YOU SIR EARNED A SUB FOR BEING AN ADULT GAMER WHO ENJOYS SCIENCY GEEKY GAMES SUCH AS THIS

  • @kurtjmac can you PLEASE make a missile, and crach it into the earth (or moon) that would be AWESOME!

  • You need to activate your SAS while on the launch pad.

  • Jurt Just so you know... the guage meter at the bottom also shoes speed.

  • 5:00 Thumbs up for the flying dildo :))

  • interesting....i got an ad for an all you can see boobies anime...are you trying to imply something kurt???

  • Finally, remember the old axiom that applies especially so in the Kerbal Space Program: Any flight you walk away from is a GOOD flight.

  • Also, you have too many control surfaces. All those winglets on the SRB's add unnecessary weight and mean that the SAS is constantly over-correcting for itself, leading to the oscillations you see. In addition, once you get into higher altitude or low velocity where your control surfaces are no longer effective, you need to ACTIVATE your RCS thrusters wit the R key. Advanced SAS will use these as well to maintain stability.

  • the shadow looks like a penis

  • Kurt, try getting into the second atmosphere level before tilting

  • 3:58 Nose issues...

  • Weee!

  • Subbed for KSP, stayed for the Minecraft.

  • Anyone notice that the astrokerbals as like smiling maniclly when Kurt is losing control of their rocket?

  • Kurt: Ooo it's got a nice shadow (Looks exactly like a penis)

  • "Few" modifications?

  • Damn, those astronauts are FEARLESS!

  • @DaVince21 Jebediah is a crazy muthafucka

  • How about a tutorial v=bGd_BFu9e10

  • Struts don't screw up separation, so worries.

  • I love this "game", but i have an additional challenge (as if it needed it). It works reasonably well in Wine, other than the fact that you can't change the camera view at all. I just about managed to get into a highly elliptical orbit using the stock equipment... but damn is it hard. Shame because it's probably a simple fix.

  • MORE ROCKESTS!!! if that doesn't work, MORE ROCKETS AND BACON AND ROCKETS AND FUEL AND DONUTS AND ROCKETS!!!

  • I attempted to get an orbit around the planet... ended up orbiting the sun instead.

  • @TARDISES and hwat happened after that?kind of a stupid and a question of the everyone-knows-the-answer type but...

  • @TARDISES as the heavy would say

    "OH THIS IS BAD!"

  • @TARDISES

    lol!

i think u might have reached escape velocity there friend

  • Mine just about reaches the edge of the atmosphere then starts to spin wildly....

  • "Uh... The astronauts are having fun." I can't get that out my head. xD

  • The fact that the rocket was at a steep angle to the trajectory after you (over)tilted it didn't help with aero drag at all, Kurt. The rocket should be pointed RIGHT at the green thing to minimise aero-drag until you get out of the dense part of atmosphere, and the actual tilting towards the proper trajectory should occur only after you reach high double-digits.

It was most enjoyable to watch nonetheless.

  • I think this game will have a lot of potential, I happily pre-ordered it - Thanks for showing this, Kurt :]

  • YEEEEEY NEW KSP UPDATEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I swear that middle guy is always smiling...

  • kurt just got me intrested in this game

  • Parachutes on solid rocket boosters do work. It was the liquid engines that were crashing in the first episode.

  • I find this more interesting than FLoB :D

  • Lose the winglets on the SRBs, they are whats killing your stability on launch

  • After few trials and fails I managed to bring them to orbit, but didn't know how to slow the rocket to bring them back... so yeah, we have new satelite

  • @W0Ndr3y The actual slowing down is done by turning the Shuttle, Soyuz or whatever retrograde (so it points opposite to the direction of flying) and burning the main engine until perigee of the orbit intersects the surface of the Earth.

  • @carneyfex That is something I know, but I didn't know how to recognize the direction Iam flying and how to rotate the ship properly... I need to focus on this more

  • 05:00

    Do it slowly!

  • So glad I downloaded this now, using 3 liquid rocket engines as a first stage with 7 fuel tanks between them, then ejecting them when empty and using solid booster and then a liquid booster, I managed to get to about 500km, which was fun :)

  • F you Kurt! you got me addicted to this game >:|

  • That rocket performs some kickass dancing moves.

    *wobble wobble wobble wobble*

  • Kurt: "Didn't make it too far, but they survived...That's unfortunate."

    Me: ಠ_ಠ

  • Kurt, only tilt when you reach near-orbital atmosphere.

  • don't tilt!

  • you need to watch some tutorials first kurt! i found this game about a week ago and figured the best thing to do is to get up to 30,000 meters as fast as possible, kill the engines, angle out at about 45 degrees and then throttle up again. then just gradually bring the angle of your craft down to about 10 degrees over a period of time. make sure you're in space around 20 degrees.

  • @idrinkk No, it's more fun (for him and us too) if he goes by trial and error on his own..!

  • Next time press "R" to enable the"RCS" when you clear the tower :)

  • I watch you play KSP while I play KSP in another window. This is some seriously recursive shit.

  • i wonder how much money has been wasted on kurt's disaters!

  • @dadadannn I'd say way less than on other players' first tries :D

  • This game is like crack. I can't stop sucking at it though.

  • Is it me or does the planet seem to have continents that look a lot like Earth's?

  • Kurt. Make a TF2 first impressions video already. Sheesh.

  • Keep straight up until about 30-40 kilometers, then tilt to about 45 degrees SLOWLY.

The thick atmosphere ends at 30 kilometers, so don't touch your rocket until you are past that. The upper atmosphere ends at 70 Kilometers, so an orbit above 70 kilometers should be stable. You need about ~2,500 m/s horizontal speed to achieve an orbit at around 80 kilometers. But just check your map. Also, if you bring the navball up while in map mode, you can actually control your rocket from map view.

  • this is an amazing series!

  • "unfortunaley this episode has gotten a big long..." wait what?!?? NOOOOOO WAIT!! DONT!!

  • What I love about this lp is seeing the trial and error and seeing the slow process and development that eventually leads to success. It really makes me appreciate the real thing a lot more.

  • Hellooo Laddies and Mentlegen!

  • Kurt, your solid rockets didn't crash into the land. The messages you saw were from the liquid rocket stage.

  • You should add more fuel to your first boosters, so you get out of the light blue phase of the atmosphere easier. I assume you don't need that much power when the atmosphere is getting thinner.

  • you can tap F when the auto-system is on to turn it off while its held down. We well Fuel boosters are better then solid for lifting off; and solid in space as you don't need to fight earth momentum and gravity.

  • Moar!!!

  • The struts between the solid boosters break when the boosters separate, so you can have them all connected together.

  • Option 1 to go to space: Rocket

Option 2 to go to space: Nuke yourself into orbit

  • @MrStereotypicalAsian Option 3 to go to space: Giant from Skyrim

  • my 2nd launch, I successfully (and not intently) made it into orbit around the star D:

  • Epic countdown

  • "Unfortunately, this episode has gotten a bit long . . ." NOOOOOOOOOO!

  • Never. Ever. Use winglets if you have an SAS. It just makes the rocket wobble madly (and don't use the heavy duty SAS either, it's way too powerful to be used unless your rocket is absolutely massive).

  • Kurt, the reason it's difficult to steer is because you have 2 sets of winglets operating at the same time. They are throwing each other off, you should only have 1 set at a time. By set, I mean the ones on the solid boosters, and the ones on the 3rd stage with the main capsule.

  • 71 until 25K subs :)

  • By the way... You can go to the moon in this game. It's an actual place, and you can land there.

  • Kurt, the planet's name is Kerbin, not Kerbal.

  • Not too much weight, you don't have enough thrust.

  • wow, thank alot for showing us this game! i love it!

  • 14:41 you're missing the wing?!

  • Bob does not like launches.

  • add more vertical solid boosters (:

  • KSB 0.13.1 is out! minutes ago!

  • /watch?v=cKGnxwKkrxY

  • Kurt, I have been experimenting with KSP and I think once you reach 10 Km you can start tilting. But before then all I seemed to get were problems..

  • Kurt your pilots cannot use the advanced SAS units because the pilots are not advanced enough. They can only use the basic one.

  • Jebbidiah is gonna LOVE the Wolfie 3.6.

    Meaning, it's insane.

    :)

  • I got pretty far into space with a setup of 3 of the large rockets on the bottom fueled by 9 tanks (3 each) connected to an upper segment via a tricoupler. It works pretty well but you burn fuel SO quickly.

  • Eventually Make a spaceship for the moon

    Name it "The Farlander"

  • @MBPLetsplays What about mars? :D

  • @MBPLetsplays You mean the Mun, right?

  • F.Y.I. Supports break when you switch stages

  • tri coupler with a total of 18 fuel tanks i think it has a slow takeoff but it goes really high.

but that was in the last update they may have changed that.

  • there are mods to add the shroud you are talking about.

  • i was so happy when i saw this

  • Kurt:

Tilt your ship when you get 550 m/s.

How to go faster? Delete the wings on the solid engines, and for more stability, get those wings of the upper part of your ship, down so the wings are next to the engine.

I know this because I've seen an awesome tutorial that shows how to build the ultimate perfect rocket, land on the moon, and come back. And it worked for me!

Thumbs up so Kurt can see!!!

  • Finally, a video that ISN'T skyrim in my subbox!

  • mormon commercial wtf?

  • when i download it says this when i open the file i cant play "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KEEP GOING!

  • I want to see you get to the moon dammit!

  • OMFG KEEP DOING THIS I LOOOOVE IT.

  • Try making something like the Vostok rocket, something with clusters of multiple rockets!

  • MORE!!!

  • Here's a tip, try not to roatate the rocket till you atleast 10-20 thousand meters up. Alot of times you don't even have to angle it till you reach space, where its very easy to get into orbit.

  • make a mega-rocket!!!

  • kurt: you don't need many (or any) winglets when you have SAS. they kinda clash and cause the massive wiggling you see at 5:00 -ish

  • And Jebediah just keeps on smiling. That guy freaks me the hell out!

  • I JUST ESCAPED THE EARTH O.o (and drifted out into deep space)

Kurt here are my tips: Use a very simple design, and add a little at a time when you feel like you need more power. This way, you will be efficient on the mass to energy ratio.

  • Kurt i dont think you should be tilting your rocket because when you do everything goes wrong!!

  • Kurt and the Kerbals...

  • Death Star in the back ground at 7:04

  • The title cards of the Kerbal Space Program episodes are awesome.

  • This is a cool game and is it free? And if not how much is it?

  • @quit123100 its free

  • The reason the asas is making your craft wobble so much is because it isn't tuned, there is a mod that is tuned better on the kerbal space program forums, no extra power, merely tweaked settings.

  • More solid rocket boosters!

  • another amazing vid kurt! Hope your next rocket makes it into orbit

  • SAS (not Advanced ones, those seem to just control the wings) placed atop solid rocket boosters are rather good at stabilizing them.

  • I nearly screamed out loud when I saw this

  • MY first rocket fell over LOL.

  • Kurt, have you checked any of the modpacks for KSP? They might have parts you're looking for, most of them are on the Kerbal forums I think.

  • @AklyonX Ah, like the compilation sets and the Warp Nacelles?

  • @XanthinZarda Yeah, those. Though trying to use the Warp Nacelles at all just asplode my rocket usually.

  • I saw the final rocket and before he said anything i was thinking "oh dear god!"

  • I wish my fing computer could handle this. Xbox versoin would be epic

  • hahahah more, should do this kind of game as a live stream.

  • Kurt, don't angle until you hit 40k or so, otherwise there's too much drag.

  • This is a good series! Really enjoying it! :D

  • not kerbal

  • Kerbin

  • Can you upload the next part tonight kurt? Please?! :D I'm loving this series.

  • Tricouplers are your friend, Kurt!

  • This game definitely needs its own series! And I can't think of anyone better suited to do a Let's Play for this; Kurt's nerdy enough about space to know his stuff!

  • Yay for continuing this as a series!!!

  • The astronauts are just SO HAPPY!

  • I am totally getting this :D

  • he's going to die.
