@rd47blog Anger isn't hate. You can be angry and want to express how you feel without hating anyone. Their music is springing from a real place and can be a comfort to those who might feel the same way but are having a hard time finding the words.
Black Fire does not dishonor culture. They act as a bridge for communication and understanding between the world's cultures. Their walk is not an easy one. They are often shunned by those for whom they walk. I am inspired to not be walked on by walking. See beyond what we have been told is the "right way" to be & do. Just do....................... do with heart.
As an indian of the south I ca also relate to the anger, energy, hope, struggle for peace and harmony. Your music speaks to me as a prayer. Love Blackfire!
i'm sure euros LOVE this...especially audiences filled with wannabes/pretendians, like in GERMANY. hahahaha. no disrespect to blackfire, but yeah - us native folks need to always be leery of co-opters, so they should be extra careful since they are touring in other countries. in addition to the many other issues they care about, i wonder if they take concern with misappropriation and how those who are dine' are represented to outsiders? i hope they do...
Gee, I thought you were navajos? don't seem like it. You guys are singing northen songs with a northen drum and your drummer is wearing cornrows, for goodness sakes,LOL How sad is this Blackfire. your navajo clanship is not navajo alright ! Don't speak for me ever.
I strongly disagree with the two previous comments. People have a right to choose their identity, utilizing their ancestry, their family relations, their experience within the native culture as well as their encounter with the culture that surrounds them: to evolve. Trying to pigeon-hole them in your own idea of what a "real" Navajo is supposed to be betrays an insensitivity to the cross-cultural struggles of indigenous peoples around the world. The reservations are not zoos or cultural museums.
i would like to belive that they are pushing the right things about navajo culture but some things dont work for me like the use of pow wow beats and drumming. not navajo. i think that their goal is honest but misguided. i wish you all the best and all the success that you stirive for
they came to my town too and resurrected punk music. bless them. and they taught me great stuff like the meat over here tastes of fear. hope they come back.
i love them. i first heard them when they played in mali with a tribe called the tuaregs. tuaregs are like the indians of mali and they look indian too.
Pindakaas, mine countrymen said it allready and I have nothing to say accept agree with him. Natives have the first right to their land so the land has to be handed to native people
Beautiful video. I really hope you will have your homeland back after the unjust relocations of racist governments and regain true indigenous sovereignty. I've added this one to my Favorites.
I dont know, when i went to monument valley people were nice and friendly

the funny part is that in terms of Navajo Clan kinship...they are not even Navajo.
Their maternal clan is what they are.

It is so wonderful to have the father included. All the better for a healthy family. Much like harmony exist in the home.
