I've just ordered a used wmo, since it's not available from shops anymore. You said you've purchased more wmos... Do they have a short lifetime ? If I plan to overclock it to 1000Hz, would it break the sensor over time ? btw very nice review, gj mate.
can you help me? i dont know if i should pick the Kinzu V2 Pro or the Kana.
i have a qck+ fnatic edition, dont know if i am low or mid sens user (6/11 windows, 400dpi, 2.0ingame cs). i have a kinzu v1 that freezes sometimes... i heard the v2 is better, because it has teflon feet and Omron switches.
@13NyO13 wmo is the same in the different shell, bro. as i prefer smaller mouses and i had 3.0, 1.1 and now i have wmo and it's best from these 3 for me, just because it's shape. i had about 10 mices, maybe more.. it's a shame that still intellimouse sensor is best for fps, especially for cs, q3 etc.
Maybe the friction is different even though the feet are identical because they have been worn down on different surface types, or just some are more worn than others?
Also, have you had any issues with the scroll wheel triggering scrolls when you didn't move it to the next notch on any of the Steelseries mice?
Apart from your microphone, great and very detailed review, just what I wanted to see, esp. the weight of each mouse. Not everyone mentions that or if the weight incl. cable or not. Please make more reviews of other mouse, if you get your hands on them. :P
I don't know enough about the sensor technology to say for sure, but each mouse that uses the Pixart sensor has the same problem, from what I've heard.
There have been a few who claim they cannot reproduce the problem, along with many who seem to activate this problem more frequently than I can.
To me that sounds like a hardware defect, and not software-related, but I could be wrong.
I'll update if there is concrete news on this front, God-willing
What if I put the skates from the kinzu on the kana... would that make it more suitable for cloth? Or is the kinzu sliding better on cloth than the kana? I have qck+ na`vi
It's a Filco Cherry Brown Tenkeyless mechanical keyboard. Elitekeyboards doesn't carry Filcos anymore, but they carry tenkeyless mechanical Leopold keyboards though.
wow. proper review. salute! im thinking steelseries are a little bit arrogant with these new mice? what the hell is this 5 new mice in last two months. sensei, diablo 3, and fnatic sensei are basically identical except sensei can get higher dpi. 11k yeah OK! who needs that. then they make slightly smaller kinzu v2 and v2 pro, still don't know what the difference between them is, and then they throw in an extra button on the sides and call it kana. this is just bizzare.
I had Sensei but the problem is that my hands always sweats when I'm playing for like 1hr. and half probably due to its LED light in the palm area of the mouse...I was thinking if I should buy KANA(white) or the Kinzu V2 Pro Edition(Black). Is KANA white and Kinzu V2 Pro Edition gives a comfortable feeling of the hands without sweating???
I wish Razer would make an IMO 1.1 inspired mouse. Something with less sharply slanted sides, a wider base, and slightly taller back at a very light weight.
i just got the mouse but it totally feels strange, when i do a 180 turn in cs, im watching up to the sky oO and the cursor doesnt feels very smooth in rts games like the mx518 was
Very good video, extremely detailed in terms of all the aspects.
Right now,I'm still with my old IE3.0, the wheel is by far gone,I haven't been using the scroll wheel when I play games for quite a while, and now I'm considering in buying a new mouse.
I waited for the Kana since the day that the voting poll opened, and now I'm thinking "should I buy the Kana or the Kinzu v2 Pro", I understand that both have a problem, but which of the 2 has the lesser problem?Which one should I buy Kana or v2 Pro?
I don't have the Kinzu V2 to test against, unfortunately, to be able to answer your question.
According to the SteelSeries website, and what I've heard, the Kinzu V2's sensor has been more tailored toward high sensitivity gamers, especially RTS gamers. The Kana being better for lower sensitivity gamers, as it has a much higher malfunction/perfect-control speed, basically meaning you can move the mouse much faster before weird things happen.
@OranJuno At what speed of movement does the bug appear in the Kana? I'm a CS player with a relatively low sensitivity, will it affect me that much? Also, do the drivers matter that much, from personal experience I've witnessed mice going worse when their drivers are installed, and if I buy the Kana, I don't think I'll install them.
@Chillehhhh I'd like to think about my options and carefully choose, at the moment I'm considering in buying a Kinzu v2 pro, since that's the model that I found the least amount of negative comments.
@tempestpesh well do you want to go without the side buttons for browsing and such and the texture of the mouse, i heard that the kinzuv2 make your hands sweaty
Im gonna buy a new mouse, but should i buy Sensei or Xai? Now that the "Kana" is on the marked it made it more harder to choose.. I really like the grip on the Xai..
@OranJuno sorry one more question regarding the wheel. is it smoother than the xai? my xai is kinda rickety and THAT is what is most irritating to me. it just seems cheaply made. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What i would like to know is does this shit double click like the last 3 kinzus that i've had? Is steelseries going to take my mony and give me a crappy mouse again. i find it hard to trust them after ive wasted soo much money on them adn they all double click. Nice video, keep up the good work. I will buy the Kana if it duznt doble click.^^
No it's a microsoft wheel mouse optical. This is a more affordable without the buttons on the side as the 1.1 and much smaller and less fat than the 1.1 he's got the same sensor than the 1.1 and explorer 3.0
I'm playing counter - strike 1.6 with pretty low sensitivity.. And i have Steelseries qck mass mousepad.. Do you think i can use the KANA anyway? Is it much mouseacc or what ? :)!
@OranJuno Before i was using the Microsoft Sidewinder, when i started using sensei, it felt like i was skipping pixels and like there were no acceleration. Though im used to it now.
@OranJuno and if you lift the mouse like a cm or so as your gripping, with the tip of your fingers just lift it a little bit and try the same movement you would see it would track much much better. Steelseries support said that to clean my mouse and my mousepad. Where as they are just recently purchased and brand new and not dirty at all. I've also tried it on my friends Sensei same thing. This doesn't even happen to an ordinary mouse. Its annoying when your trying to get accurate shots.
@OranJuno I've contacted SteelSeries support about this issue on my Sensei. Windows 6/11, 900CPI, 1 Freemove @ 1000HZ poll rate, and %22ExactLift, (other config like accl. set to 0). Its annoying when your trying to get accurate shots.

davidsveningsson 1 month ago
@davidsveningsson
People keep asking about the sensor, and I don't really want to do a review without solid information, but from my anecodotal tests, there does appear to be some prediction, but not as bad as I've seen.
There is very little acceleration, but if I swipe VERY quickly, it does become a bit inconsistent. In actual playing, I haven't noticed acceleration though with my sensitivity, which is of course, good news.
