This song will always give me goosebumps. I've been to 24 shows in the last decade and have never seen it live. I've resigned myself that I probably never will. :(
Anybody notice that somehow daves neck got like twice as muscular between this and like a decade before this. probably from the hardcore vocals.. he is always singing with every last breath. but anyways i love this song. it really shows that there is no boundaries for the band.
@800adam008 If I recall, this was an internet broadcast back in '98 so yeah, video quality is lacking. I think their performance makes up for it though...
@anttheman92089 let me guess, either Carter's 18" crash cymbal or some kooky keyboards or I think Tim Reynolds is in the back serving up some tasty licks...
@0509killer Most of the live mixes I see of DMB live are mediocre at best, and some are just pathetic. Palladia had some of the worst DMB I ever heard. It was a lot like the old Isle of Wight concert. Obviously half the band could not hear themselves either. That makes for a lot of off key shouting, and some instruments were just lost. A lot of those festival venues are like that. One sound guy does all the bands. Half the time he is off screwing around during the bands he does not care about.
@cguy7408 im gonna go ahead and say random dave mumbling haha. he just makes stuff up lol. the "official" lyrics are those ones because this reprise is featured at the end of the album version of spoon. what he does live im sure is different from time to time. which is what makes him so great. And for that matter same with Halloween. Halloween live is like snowflakes, no two versions are the same.
@asainsoupeaters15 just because he's playing a higher note doesn't mean it's impressive, or shall i say, more impressive than tim's role throughout the rest of the song. He's probably not photogenic anyway.
i was in ATL seeing Panic that night. it was Kicken' This vid makes me think I may have made the wrong choice. just kidding, Great music is Great music. thanks!
i was in ATL seeing Panic that night. it was Kicken' This vid makes me think I may have made the wrong choice. just kidding, Great music is Great music. thanks!
6:45 easily the best part of the song...and from 6:58 on how did they not put the camera on tim, he was laying down some insanely fast picking with just the sweetest melody to it, and they didn't pan the camera on him once, i wanted to see him playing those notes sooo badly
I love this song for the lyrics more then the bad-ass tune. I try to live by it if I can:"Fools are we are,If hate's the gate to peace This is the last stop.Oh war The only way to peace Well, I don't fall for that.” i means more today I think. Thank you Dave for your talent, insight and rock sauce!
Carter 07:03 > 07:11... unbelievable!!! The guy is a monster!!! Best motherfrakking drummer ever to play in this planet doesn't even begin to cover it!!! How the hell does he do that??? Damn...
having a great day 7 out of 10, your team going to the superbowl and winning 8 out of 10, meeting carter beauford 9 out of 10, listening to dave matthews band live with your wife, friends, 16 months in sobriety, leaving a family business, moving to Texas and hearing this song live 12 out of 10.
@stevebak99 Well I just assumed so! I saw the video of the guy running on stage, and after reading up on it a little bit, I saw that that night was the last time they played it (or were about to play it). Til now :)
They finally played The Last Stop on July 31st....first time since 2006. The reason that they haven't played it so long is because when they were about to play it in '06, a mysterious man in a trench coat somehow got onto stage and was running around behind the scenes. It spooked the band pretty badly. In an interview after, Stephan said that as the guy was being taken off by security, he yelled "Father, look what they are doing to your children!" And they haven't played it since, until the 31st
I'm not so sure. Turns out nearly every single one of his references about the Abrahamic religions was to mock them. Yea, he was born and raised a Quaker, but he's now and has been an Atheist to the Abrahamic God and the Abrahamic religions since the mid 90's.
If you don't buy that, there's an interview on YouTube where he makes this quite clear. He's being interviewed by a Canadian radio jockey. AtheistMediaBlog's channel has it.
While I appreciate your efforts in proving a point. I get it and I am glad you know your stuff. My previous statement was initially just a joke to express how awesome this song is to a religiously ignorant friend of mine.
@kevroh06 So did I. 10 Years and who knows how many shows I've been to and I've never seen it live. If they don't play it at Wrigley I just may weep silently...
