@Mankkubus It's true, all of the computers in the world couldn't produce this imagery without the artists, technicians and production talent that drive them.
_ In real life, there aren't any frames. We see all the actions being lived. We do not really see motion blur.
_ When ILM works on movies ( meaning the actions are just frames ) there is motion blur.
My question is : How does ILM make motion blur ? It looks so real, everytime I try to pause a video to see the details of the rendering of Transformers in action I see motion blur.
Motion blur is usually an effect applied at the time that the hardware is rendering individual frames. For example the animator can specify which animated elements will be motion blurred, the direction and length of the motion blur is achieved by specifying how many frames are used to average out the motion. Modern rendering software can very accurately simulate different kinds of cameras with different lenses & shutter speeds meaning it can match real cameras quite well
Hey guys this is Amazing.. am A great fan of Transformers i love all 3 parts everything is Awesome .. and Hatsoff to u guys for making us such an brilliant movie,,,, WE are Expting part 4 aswell .. hope we ll get offical news from michalebay..
u guys rock .. Once again thanku for bringing us our childhood heros in Big scren like Optimus , beeee , Ironhide , etc....Cheers
Megatron's transformation is damn smooth - especially when he pulls that head scarf down onto his head. It definitely gives a different look then we used to seeing him as.
that was amazing ! i sometimes prefer behind the scenes of how they make movies than the film it self.. like this one , i love transformers ! but i really wanna know how they also do it.. thank you so much for uploading this , and can i have links or name , to see a full behind the secens ? or more clips , or where did you get that clip from ?
WOW AMAZING REALY AMAZING I REALY ADMIRE YOU SCOTT
FOR ALL YOU WORK THAT YOUR DONE WITH ALL TRANSFORMERS MOVIES
IN SPECIAL WITH DARK OF THE MOON THIS MOVIE REALY HAVE THE BEST CHARACHTER ANIMATION I SEEN SO FAR IN A MOVIE AND ILM IS SHOR ONE OF THE
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS STUDIOS IN THE WORLD AND I AM REALY INTERESTING HOW DID YOU DONE ALL THAT ANIMATION WHAT SOFTWARE DID YOU USE FOR ANIMATION THANK YOU
@SummitTraxxas We use a number of different piece of software to composite elements together but for stereo 3D work we're primarily using The Foundry's Nuke.
For lens flares we make our own and have many custom tools to do so.
It says on your jobs page on your website that in order to be a compositor, you need to have experience with Shake. Since Shake is now discontinued, what is the main program you use? I would like to apply for compositor and I am very familiar with Adobe After Effects.
@TeamRedFilms We still use Shake - with a lot of custom extensions created here in-house. We also use both Nuke from the Foundry and Inferno from Autodesk. Thanks for your interest.
Great video :) seriously I could watch a 4 hour vfx documentation of your work :D what projects are you involved in for 2012? Consider me in the theathre ;-)
@TheScwall The Transformers are each rigged with a completely custom rig that animators can add and subtract objects and parts on the fly - we call the tech: Dynamic Rigging.
More please i would love just hear the directors talk about how they did their favorite shot, or how the 3d artists went about taking on the challenge of the 70,000 part snake thing please i just want to hear what you do :/ i so badly want to go work their
If only g1-whiners could see how much hard work ILM puts into this...

@harveyp1814 It makes him look really broken, and it makes sense that his transformation is slow because he's all rusted like Jetfire.

Mask???

@SummitTraxxas Yes we have a fantastic team of roto artists that do a MASSIVE amount of paint work on every shot where you see robots.

@ILMVisualFX Thats AWESOME!!
What software do you guys use to piece it all together??
Is it like After Effects or something??
And when ever we see a lens flare do you guys make them yourselves or do you buy a video copilot optical flares bundle or something??
Thanks!
