I wish you were my neighbour! Then I might finally have a chance at getting better at playing the banjo. Beside your amazing banjo skill you have something else that stands out. The rythm and the joy!! Just love watching your videos!! Keep on picking.
Haha! Of course you are right. But I do that for hours every day! I think I would need a teacher that can make me see things in a different way, so I can get better. Not a lot of them here in Sweden though :( But Youtube helps me a lot and I do get better...but as I'm not a natural on string isntruments, it goes really slow :)
i like this version a lot. i've played this one every now and again, but the version i play the most is Hobart Smith's version. it's a bit faster and in a minor key. this one sound great, but to me it's almos a completely different tune. i love how music changes.
Josh commented that he'd like to get the Hobart Smith version. You would also do well to get Mary Z. Cox version. She plays 'Last Chance' on her cd 'Walkin'That Banjo Home'. It's excellent, and it's also in the same tuning that Jim has played it on this video.
hello jim, are you going to post any more videos, and this might be a bit cheeky but i dont suppose you can do a picking style in gdgbd tuneing and one that you have the tab for , dont ask for much do i , just love what ya do
I'll probably do some more in the spring. I don't play much clawhammer in standard G, and I rarely tab out my arrangements since I never really play anything the same way twice. However, the two bluegrass videos I have posted are in standard G, just no tab with those. Thanks for the comment!!!
Awesome song man. I just learned how to play it over the weekend at the Summer Solstice Festival out here in LA. I knew I had heard it somewhere before, and it was from watching this video. I now have to go get the Hobart Smith version of it. Awesome.
sounds awesome !

What does the clawhammer part mean? If you played that same song on a guitar would it sound like crap? The guy sounds really good!
