You don't become a flood by being bitten. The little pods that skitter around have to latch onto you, stick a little spike inside your skin and tap into your nervous system. They then take over control of the host and, BOOM, your a flood host. That's why the only way you knew for sure you killed a flood in halo 2 was shooting it in the chest and killing the pod that infected it.

@Roaring2Thunder what was found on Earth in Halo 3, as was the same that was found on Reach in Halo: Reach, and what was found on Harvest in Contact Harvest, were all made by the forerunners, what these three things had in common were that they resembled what was found on Onyx in Ghosts of Onyx. And Onyx is a shield world, so you basically have to add it all up. If Onyx is a shield world, and the same tech was found on these planets, then all planets that have life could be shield worlds.

So yeah Forerunners aren't that good guys , Let's hope the Humans now can exerce the Mantle
