@mahpokemons Ravens can produce over 300 types of different sounds, and they imitate to a startling level of accuracy exactly what they hear - so if a woman is talking to the bird, it will imitate the said words in a woman's voice, regardless of its own gender :) Crows cannot replicate as accurately as ravens, since they have a more limited spectrum of sounds.
I played this (sound only) to one of my single friends, and she said he sounded like someone she'd like to date. Then I showed her that he was a bird.
@coolethan8: Oops, sorry XD I didn't realize that I write ''cut their tongue OUT'' instead of my intended ''split their tongues''. But anyway, since we're done with that, is THAT the only way for them to learn any language? I've read some comments here that some disagree with you : /. They(as you may have alrdy seen) say that you do not need to split their tongues at all for them to learn a language. I have really no clue since I'm not experienced with learning crows/ravens/parrots a language.
@Khornedevotee Like people, each crow is different. Maybe some of them can do it naturally while some can't? After all, some people don't have mouths that work as well for talking as most. That's not meant as an insult to them; some people just have an unusual jawline or a natural lisp, or other things that make speaking more difficult.
I said this before, but I have to say it again, it seems:
I've seen that raven, but it or rather it's keeper fails, since the raven says "say 'nevermore'" and not just the single word. Furthermore, it must be my own "pet" raven. So I can't die happy yet! :P
I had to watch it twice. I had no idea that crows &/or birds in same family had vocal cords so that they could form human words :0 It seems real, such a deep voice, which I find interesting. But is it possible that someone did a voice over?
Tuo sama korppi yritti nokkia multa sormen irti joskus. Tarjos nokassaan aina keppiä tuolta aidan raosta ja sit kun menit ottamaan sitä ni se yritti nokkia sormia.
@UlfLundell It is.. when i first heard something like this for real it even sounds fake being there as the voice sounds so weird almost as if they are throwing there voice ... but yep it is them its just so unreal... these people are lucky they caught it talking a few times in a row
@TankTaur I joked about doing the same thing... Is it even possible? If so, I'd probably cheat by recording myself saying 'nevermore' and looping it near the bird's enclosure at night.
@KitBikyuu Actually, that is a very common way owners of pet parrots teach their bird to talk. So, it wouldn't be cheating , just speeding up the process. My parents raised several different parrots when I was young.
@jasonx165 I've been told about it several times, but that instance is quite the failure; the raven is mimicing the phrase "say 'nevermore'" and the "say" part really takes the edge off of it, and it is said in a very calm and anti-dramatic manner to boot. It is also not my OWN pet raven saying it. That is a very important part of my dream too. Ravens are fascinating creatures and I'd much like one to be closely associated with me (I'd rather not consider it as a case of me "owning" the raven)
Heh. I've been in the same park in Finland, and I met this Raven :]. I've got simillar movie. Got to post it one day. It was a very unusual experience talking to this interesting creature :).
