Thank you for a great review and this little addition to it! Knowing about noise cancellation capabilities beforehand is a must for every headphones shopper... driver or pedestrian ;-)
Those are thw most amazing earbuds I have ever had. But I mines came with a walkman that I bought before. The cable is too short and therefore they came also with an extension. Now, that was like 2 years ago and the earbuds are still working perfectly today, but the problem is that the extension cable broke for the use(but they served for a long time).
As I mentioned, the earbuds are great and they are almost new.
I love them but I need a new extension which costs like $50 a whole set.
They're also less like to get damaged, straight plugs lead to damaged cables when they're pressed against something, and they're more likely to press against something because they jut out further.
Sony EX-75 has a 9mm speaker, the EX-85, a 13.5 mm difference in power is remarkable.
The Sennheiser CX 180 has a Frequency response 20Hz-20.000Khz. The EX-85 Frequency response is 5Hz to 24000Khz. It also has a much larger speaker. You can not compare one product with another. The frequency response of the Sony is much more defined and the sound is huge potential with regard to the Sennheiser, due to the size of the speakers
hi! I have to say two things: the first thing is that previously I had the model EX-82 and the sound is exactly the same, just change the design of the plug, that the EX-85 comes in the form of "L". Also, the EX-82 is not manufactured more.
The second thing I find interesting comment is that, in my E-85 I have blocked with a silicone sealant the grid headset and the sound changes dramatically! It is much harder, to derive all the sound towards the ear canal, and the bass really hit a 50% plus.
i cant help but think these are a set of the fake ones in circulation. that box looks like the fake sony boxes. and im sure sony use the term tru bass not deep.
I used to own the MDR-EX082 when they came with my Walkman. I think they're identical to one another, except the EX082s had a straight plug rather than an L-plug.
I've never gotten them stuck in my ear, but I hadn't tried either. And they do block some outside noise, but not to the degree of noise canceling headphones will.
I bought a pair of Ultimate Ears from ebay for $40($80 orginally) and i hated them. The left side was extremely weak so i just purchased Sony MDR - EX75 phones and they sound so much better for half the price. Sony headphones rule.
Ok, just because you've heard $10000 sound, doesn't make you KNOW what good sound is. For one thing, Sony Earphones are know to be build cheap, the sound quality isn't the greatest, and they are pathetic for the price. I bet you got those for what? $80 or something? RIP. You could get a pair of Ultimate Ears Metro Fi 100, 150, 200, Altec Lansing uhp306, Creative ep-630, creative ep-830 for that with money remaining.
While all the companies you list DO make better products, my subjective reviews are based on my personal price to value ratio. If I felt like dropping much more on a better pair I would, and have. Since purchasing I have used these for jogging and not a thing else. Which isn't to put them down, I'm still very pleased with their performance. You shouldn't be such an audio snob. Not everyone will buy premium products, and for the iPod using masses these are without a doubt a step up.
well that's the problem, you may be right, not everyone has an high audio standard, but for the same price, why would you buy the sony's? who wouldn't buy the ultimate ears, creatives, or altec lansing?
i have these and i find them to be rather bad for $60. however you could get them for like $25 or so on ebay rather easily (buyitnow). I'm no audio aficianado, and maybe it comes with the territory for in-ear phones..but to me they sound very tinny. The bass is OK but not particularly powerful, gets drowned out by the highs often as. There seems to be a lack of midrange. The outputs are a little wide as well. they're certainly better than the cheapies you get at the store for $20 though.
ex300 is a true noise cancelling in canal earphone

these things are great. excellent fit. great sound quallity, light weight, good looking. only flaw, thin cables prone to breaking

As you know, the sealant can be removed when you like, so I recommend you actually try it. You will not regret it!
If you are interested in showing me a photo of them looks like the headset with silicone sealant, just let me know.

Joe dont worry, that guy probably buys inaely expensive headphones to listen to crappy compressed audio which defeats the purpose anyway.

These actually are better than average for Sony, and for $49, I think they're excellent for the price.
