@GunWebsites Excuse me, but I am having a fight with someone. I said that the desert eagle was used to take out engine blocks for a period of time. Was I correct? He says that it still doesn't have enough power.......
Im glad that such a well known gun reviewer is finally embracing guns in modern culture then ignoring then as childs thoughts, people fail to realize how much the youth is affected by them
All guns are interesting, and games are introducing a LOT of people to them before they might ever see a real one. So research like this was fun to do, thanks for the support
Being old enough to remember life before there were any video games, it's tough to put myself in your shoes, but kudos on stay away from the lure couch potato-ing, LOL
Yup, many drunken LAN parties due to this game, many moons ago. This is where the "Deagle" originated. This is kind of funny because kids today were nothing like my generation, having seen computers and "gaming" later in life in our 20's as opposed to being raised on Xbox. Seriously, I had a freaking Atari and progressed up to a Tandy. So, Counter Strike was like CRACK you can imagine.
the hitman 2 screenshot, you were right the gun is in the game as far as i know, but you got the police GAT, i noticed it cause i played it a few days ago :p
Well, I own and have played Metal Gear Solid, and the gun you showed is actually supposed to be a HK MK23 (SOCOM) pistol with the original stock laser/flashlight combo. They even label it as such. Just thought I'd point it out. Cool video concept by the way.
Ammo question!! The muzzle energy measurements on the ammo look all wrong to me. Isn't the .357 more like 600-800 ft-lb? and the 9mm is up to 1500 ft-lb??? no way. Not calling "bullshit", cus it looks like you put allot of time into this, but if someone could explain this to me, i would be gratefull.
@34601k Yeah I agree with you. It looks cool, and I fell in love with it in games like Resident Evil 2, but it is very impractical and I have no desire to get one.
In the screenshot from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, what's pictured is Snake's HK Mk 23. The player can not use the Desert Eagle in this game, only the character Meryl uses it.
The term Deagle primarily came from Counter Strike back before CS V.1.6 when it was still a fan made mod of the game Half Life.
From what I heard we were pretty much the 1st ones to use it while in game. If you want me to I can get screen shots of it from when it was 1st introduced into CS up to the newest version for Counter Strike Source just PM me.
great gun i own 3..but its damn picky about its rounds you feed it...low quality rounds and youll jam up like crazy and some wont even cycle the slide back.
@GunWebsites yeah but you can take 1 of the springs out and then some lower powered rounds will cycle it back, but it throws the guns dynamics out alittle...also there is a gas port in the head of it...that thing is such a bitch,it gets corroded from the gases like crazy..and its nothing more than a little steel plug looking thing.i took mine out and polished it with my dremel to a mirror finish and then coated it with some graphite and break free and now its smooth as silk..
@ if im gonna shoot these days id rather use one of my Taurus .44s or a smith and wesson model 29..i enjoy my eagles but A; unless your reloading yourself they are too expensive to shoot, for plinking B:after a hundred or rounds of 357.or .44mag (forget plinking with .50ae) your wrists and fingers are killing you at the end of the day. C: if you get a hot round in there thats over seated or over charged at the factory..the ejected casings can hit you in the face and bean the shit out of you.
Just FYI, ask any gamer and they will tell you the word "Deagle" was probably born in Counter Strike. The game is MASSIVE and any gamer I think would say that is where the term originated.
Just my opinion, but I'm pretty sure most gamers would agree with me. :)
@Smith28Adventure I agree... I learned "DEAGLE" from Counter Strike well over 10 years ago. Cant think of any other games that the word could of came from.
Desert Eagle is such a stupid gun. This comment will probably get thumbed down by a bunch of little kid gamers.
I've shot one and they are over-everything. over-powered(.44,.50ae, etc) too heavy, over-priced, etc, etc. Such an unpractical gun for everything except having in a collection or as a wall mount.
I always thought the word ''Deagle'' was originated by players in counterstrike online. Just a name some gamer said out loud over his headset and it went viral. I could be wrong.
I've never shot a .50 Desert Eagle, but I have got to shoot a .357. I thought it was pretty nice actually, but, unfortunately, the guns just not a good fit for my hands. I don't know why so many guns get bagged on for being in games? I mean, there's a ton of driving games out there that feature real life cars in them, that doesn't make the real cars any less cool, right?
if you go to imfdb.org you can search any game/gun/movie/anime/cartoon/comic, and it will pretty much tell you all guns in all movies, for an example, if you type desert eagle, it will open a page for the deagle, and tell you all of the movies and games etc. and what they are named in the games, its pretty cool
Your getting ready for Duke Nukem 4 pc? All the games are unrealistic cause they lack eye injury... from the case ejection hitting on face and near eye often (anti desert eagle sarcasm).
Interesting firearm and subject. Another youtuber named FireArmsResQ sort of does the same thing with his firearms. You are right about games getting capacities and names wrong. A bit annoying that the producers can't do research on the firearms in their game.
Keep it going, your gonna be a General some day. At least the Administration dept. I guess your gonna have to send 6 people home already. You know what's cooking in the oven. They don't.
@waseem1173 Yes it is. I have never been hunting (all the local game has a variant of mad cow at the moment) but it seemed very good from a gameplay standpoint. Nothing really amazing, but the animal AI and a few other things were actually better than some of the big budget shooters.
Oh man, don't get me started on video games :) the downfall of American youth. As a parent I have always limited the time my sons can spend and I have also watched their academic grades sore above others who spend way to much time on them. I am actually surprised you put this much time into promoting the video game idea. I always try to encourage the youth I am involved with to get outside after doing their academic work.
I hear you. I haven't played a video game in many years.
But I was curious to see why we get so many questions / comments about this pistol.
and surprised to see how many games feature the DE, so instead of throwing away all the research (and time it took to look it up) I made it into a video to share
FYI, our average viewers is like 50+ years old, so I expect this will be slightly informative to some people, and ignored by all the kids looking for walk throughs, or cheat codes
@GunWebsites I am surprised your average viewer is not younger. I have a few friends with similar channels and they have many young viewers wanting to see the guns in their video games fired in real life. I can nly speak from my experience. I have always limited Alex's time on video games and he made straight A's from 1st to 5th grade, literally in every class. I watched as his friends would brag about their kills in the games and also report their less than average grades.
When I was a kid we bragged about how good we were at doing stuff.. now it seems kids brag about their skill at playing the video game (virtual) versions of the games we used to play outside or their skill in killing other virtual gamers .. don't seem like the best way to spend any time, not to mention a majority of their time
Lego blocks are in video games now
so are playing blocks too 'old school' for kids now?, lol
@GunWebsites I always take heat from my comments on video games but maybe some young kid out their will have their eyes opened to the fact that public schools are not educating them and the rest of society is aiding and abetting the same cause. I am a capitalist so I do not blame companies trying to make a dollar but all I ask is don't blame me for trying to educate youth about the dangers of spending too much time on them.
@ArtisanTony It depends on the child or person I suppose. While some kids will "veg" out in front of a console, others when told "hey wanna make a new level, music, or add some new guns to the game" will jump at the new found creative outlet, esp since they know their audience will be their peers. While it's true the "Nerd" image of the pale guy that never sees light is still strong, I also know quite a few "digital mtn men" that work out of a laptop - in tent - on various trails year long. :)
Ok its just like you said... "were not really video gamers" so thats it! It's not rocket science do what you do best lets just stick with real pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns... I just spent hours playing why do I want to watch video game images on the gunsite?
:raises hand: I admit, I've been a long time gamer, and I'm familiar with most of these games. As someone here pointed out the term "Deagle" likely came from Counter-Strike" which was wildly popular among PC gamers when it first was released because it was free. At present the list only contains commercial titles. In PC gaming as early as the 90's a trend of letting players make content (Mods, maps, conversions etc) and share it via the net lead to many free and popular games not in stores.
@GunWebsites i can confirm DEFkon001's statement, Counter-Strike popularized the name Deagle. It was one of the most popular mods for half-life when it came out, but when it was released as a retail game it became the most popular multiplayer game in history at the point in time (surpassing a former Quake mod turned Half-Life mod called Team Fortress). Counter Strike: Source came out as a mod for Half-Life 2 and was also immensely popular, only surpassed in popularity by the Call of Duty series
@DEFkon001 Counter-Strike or "CS" became one of the most popular of these "mods". It's effect on the business end did not go unnoticed as commercial products now had to compete with a free offering of equal or higher quality. It'd be as if Glock INC started started selling G17's for 1 dollar back in the 80's. Everyone had it, or knew of it. For the free price you couldn't complain. Eventually CS was bought out by Valve, but it's popularity sparked interest in making "mods" in many others.
@DEFkon001 cont.2 - Mods or Modifications started out as simple as players adding extra levels to games like Doom, or Quake, but in a quick time players learned how to make new weapons, and change just about parameter or "rule" in the game. In firearms the Ruger 10/22 or AR15 might be a good analogy. Mods allowed users to completely change the look, feel, nature, and even purpose of the game platforms they were built on, without requiring PhD's to do it. You still needed the original game though
@GunWebsites Excuse me, but I am having a fight with someone. I said that the desert eagle was used to take out engine blocks for a period of time. Was I correct? He says that it still doesn't have enough power.......

I wish I would have found something that concise when I was looking, would have saved some time, lol

The screenshots in counter strike online(cso) is P226, but the dsert egle skin actually the same as cs 1.6,so noting need to mention about.
Also, both .44 magnum and DE are the most powerful pistols in call of duty modern warfare 2, but again, it just a minor mistake.
