That JS hypo cement is something i`ve been wanting for ages, but micromark does not ship this dangerous item overseas..that testors crap is just..well what can i say, i was desperate..this is very frustrating. What are we terrorists now?? I want watch crystal cement (JS hypo cement) and i want it now! Maybe i will have to travel abroad to get it?!
the BEST glue to use is ambroids pro-weld glue... its liquid (not like that revell goopy shit you get) and it melts a very thin layer so the plastic sticks to it and will become one piece instead of 2 pieces glued together. Also if you get it on your fingers it just evaporates into the air..
I use CA for the very tiny parts like hydraulic hoses, very thin pipes and such because that poly cement in a tube or in the bottle just melts the part away, in my experiences takes ages to set and doesnt provide a very strong bond. I use tiny tiny amounts of dirt cheap CA and it sets in a few seconds, and is 10x stronger than liquid poly.
super glue and models don't mix well. Try using products that are designed for models and you will have much better luck. Super glue will stick to fingerprints and it will ruin the finish on the model.
AceLockCo, Not true superglue is an excellent filler for gaps used with accelerator it works fine if your worried about it sticking to you then you need more practice ive been building for over 20 years and I still get some on me know and then. Just part of the hobby.
I use Plastruct Plastic Weld and I also use Faller Super Expert. Getting it on my hands is not the issue, but rather messing up the plastic parts. Superglue fogs plastic, especially clear plastic.
Well, superglue really isnt good for clear parts , better to use a white glue and let dry, or coat them in future and then use superglue the future protects it from fogging.
Well, I am going to stick with the specialty products I have been using that are designed specifically for use in making models. They have been working really well for me and are easy to use. I guess just like everyone else, I use what works best for me. If others like superglue, and it works for them, that's great,
Well, Ive been building for over 20 years and professionally for about 8 (doing builds for clients) and super glue is a great tool to use in your tool box, and btw I use Super Glue that is "specifically designed" for models and comes in different types thin, super thin, and even if you get a fingerprint on it u can sand it smooth for a nice finish, many pros use superglue along with regular liquid cement you are not supposed to use it for all parts just thouse that have gaps try it .

Any suggestions for a glue (for legos) that has EXTREMELY high shear strength? meaning it can withstand a few thousand pounds of force?

Super Glue and Epoxy: Metal and resin, joining disimilar materials.
Styrene cement: Plasic welds.
White Glues: Window-making and clear styrene.
Loctite: When all of the above just won't work... >:)
