I actually discovered this piece on my Music Theory class! It was an example of melodic bass, and I fell in love when my teacher played the small excerpt on piano! I am a cellist student myself, so of course I looked it up when I noticed the cello had the melody!
I think the introduction to the 7th quartet is maybe one of the most beautiful Beethoven ever wrote. I really like the introductions on the 3rd and 5th piano concertos as well.
Wow! This can so very great! Yay-Was making me so happy! My best boy is Gyorgy!! As was a little boy playing,so much fun! Keep going with Post-FANTASTYCZNY! Svet!!
Do you by chance coach in NY? Maybe we could play for you this year when we are back at school? I look forward to your other videos. Is the violinist a student of Mr. Perlman? I find it so interesting how people pickup traits from their teachers. I know I have and will continue.
This is a highly polished group, amazing actually. They look like giants, but it must be the camera. We're playing this Beethoven at school and I'll be happy to get it half this good. The violinist looks and sounds like Mr. Perlman, I bet he was his student (misses one passage, but oh well). The sound quality is magnificent for Youtube. I wonder if it was touched up? Coughs and all, this is a treasure. Have anymore?
Thanks for your complimentary remarks. We're not giants, although our average height is just over 6'. Most likely the camera angle and lighting contribute to the effect. As for the recording, it is a live performance that has not been touched up in any way. I used my Panasonic camcorder with a good stereo microphone I borrowed from a friend. The mic is much better than the camera's on-board mic. Good luck with your studies. This is a very difficult piece. I'll be posting more soon.
I agree...what a terrible thing to have happened during such a wonderful performance
